..about Greece 2012 1 by geo As you people might know, here in Greece we are having the time of our life. Part I: elections 6th May 2012 The most important elections since 1981, are held the same day as the French ones, 6 May 2012. Polls open at 7am and close at 7pm. Different ascendant, different outcome? Last government (nov2011-now) was a unity government among the two major parties. As none of them can form majority (the right wing party ?ND? ranges 17-22%, while the used-to-be-centre-left-but-turned-to-right-wing ?PASOK? 8-10%), and as they have both voted for the austerity measures that next government is obliged to follow, it is almost certain that these two intend to cooperate. So, astrologically speaking, the incumbent shall be these liberal parties? coalition, the ?memorandum-sell-it-all? ones. Of course, in order to be able to govern they may ask for the help of some negotiating-memorandum centre-wing parties. The challenger on the other hand, would be a hypothetical coalition between left-wing anti-memorandum and negotiating-memorandum parties. *I take the poll?s opening as birthtime. **Although I found Bonatti?s method interesting, I decided after all to consider the incumbent vs challenger as 1H vs 7H and not the opposite, because I think it?s similar to a football match speculation, where 1H is the home team =in this case the incumbent. asc Tau tightly conj Algol: much fear (and destruction..?) L1 is venus 22Gem02, L7 is mars 06vir23. They are both in Mercury ruled signs, which perhaps shows the ?coalition? character in both cases, both succedent and slow (venus going soon Rx, while Mars has just recovered) Mercury could also signify the centre-wing party of Kouvelis, without the cooperation of which no government of either side can be formed. In favor of the challenger is the fact that PoF & NN are in 7H, Moon is in Scorpio (=Mars), and that it?s a fullmoon actually, which in all the cases of greek elections that I?ve looked through 1977, it has always denoted change of political power. Moreover, mars is connected to its Lord by mutual reception and antiscia. Mercury however has no dignity, it?s in 12H and makes no other aspect. So it looks to me there will be a defeat of the two major parties, but the ?winning? left parties won?t be either able to form a government. (Maybe Kouvelis? party won?t join in??) And that leads us to part II: conspiracy theories The elections date was a bit covered by mystery, in the beginning rumours had it for late April, then the 2 candidate days were 6&13 May, and finally the date was not announced until a month prior to it. What attracted my attention though, was the fact that when current puppet-PM Papademos announced the election?s date to the President of Democracy (this is the procedure), he also proposed the new government to swear on 17th may at 11am, which is 11 days after the elections. This has never been done before, as the government is always being formed 2-3 days after the elections. Let?s see why Papademos picked up this date and time (!) for it.. Sun here is L1, L2, L10 & Lmoon almuten and he?s tightly conj ALgol (again) So the people (asc & moon), the nation?s recources, and the government are stacked with our galaxy?s worst fixed star, while our open enemies and their income (Saturn) are doing well, exalted, right on Spica, and angular in 4H disliking and opposing people & government (or supporting opposition). Look also how opposition?s ruler venus (L4)tightly conj PoF and how nicely partile trines its tripl. dispositor, Saturn! I really wonder why one would choose a day for the elections when he would be defeated and then propose another date when his opponents (and the country itself) would be destroyed.. Part III: GR Aries ingress 2012 ?strange days Mc tightly conj Pluto, that already denotes a dramatic year. Saturn is the strongest planet in the chart, exalted, angular, L10, ruling by exaltation and seated in the house of open enemies. What does Saturn want? Venus. Venus is nation?s resourses and there are much resources indeed: in rulership, near 2H cusp and by WS is in it. She?s also in mutual reception by exaltation with the moon (L4=land. Nation?s resources are about its land. Unfortunately, moon?s next aspect is opp to Mars (L8 ), while NN is in 8H: the ?open enemy? takes it all I also don?t like that mercury ruling L8 between sun (=L5 and asc almuten) and Uranus, and its mutual reception with mars. Although it all smells dramatic events, let?s hope that Saturn being in its dignity will show some dignity.. Georgia Quote Wed May 02, 2012 1:15 am
2 by Mark Hello geo, Thanks for all your analysis. Very interesting delineations. Just a few points: *I take the poll?s opening as birthtime. **Although I found Bonatti?s method interesting, I decided after all to consider the incumbent vs challenger as 1H vs 7H and not the opposite, because I think it?s similar to a football match speculation, where 1H is the home team =in this case the incumbent. Thats a little strange as in traditional astrology the initiator is L1. Hence in electional charts the buyer is Lord 1 while in legal charts the plaintiff/prosecutor/ pursuer is L1 while the defender is Lord 7. http://www.skyscript.co.uk/astrology_law.html Equally, in Bonatti's open battle charts the attacker/initiator is Lord 1. Of course none of these approaches were designed to determine an electoral contest. One could argue in an election all the parties enter the contest as equal contenders. I think that argument holds up better for multi-party elections rather than presidential elections which have a clear analogy to a sporting 'title fight' with an incumbent. Still as you point out the ruling coalition = the status quo or 'more of the same' while the political opposition represent the change. Actually, I meant to mention Bonatti has yet another method that could be of interest here. In horary he suggests a technique to make a decision on a radical change (such as new job or relocation). Here both Lord 1 and 7 represents the questioner. However, L1 is the status quo and L7 represents change. He suggests making our decision based on the condition of the house rulers, planets tenated in them and the aspects of the moon with the status quo the separating aspect and the future the proposed change. So using the logic of this horary approach the status quo is L1 and proposed change is L7. The problem with applying this technique is that is was not developed for an impartial judgement of event charts but rather a subjective personal decision. You reference sports astrology. In that setting I thought it was more normal to assign the 1st to the challenger/visiting team? In chapter 2 of his book 'Sports Astrology' John Frawley takes an amusing swipe at the notion that both the challenger or incumbent is automatically lord 1 in contest charts. His experience is that neither approach reliably works. Hence he disagrees with both Lee lehman and Bernadette Brady. Instead he proposes his own method which is to assign the 'favourite' as L1 and the underdog as 7. There are a lot of practical suggestions in Frawley's book which are worth consideration for political contests too. The book is also full of the wit similar to the style of The Real Astrology. Ignoring house significators we can look for general indicators of change in a contest/opening of polls chart. The fixed signs obviously suggest continuity while the cardinal signs indicate imminent change. Of the mutable signs Gemini and Virgo are more indicative of change being ruled by Mercury. Especially, if it falls in a cardinal sign. Equally, angular planets such as Mars, Uranus or Pluto could indicate likely change. We should also check the condition of the moon and its separating/applying aspects. the Moon can be seen to represent the people. there is also some research that the moon about the horizon at the scheduled inauguration time is more likely to indicate a change of government. In particular check out this thread which features very interesting research by Unique Astrology on the political results of US inauguration results and the position of the Moon: http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6529 Incidentally, I just wondered if you had looked at the Full Moon chart for April 6th? Our member Greg (Daz madrigal) used this chart to predict the outcome of the French presidential elections. I think the lunation prior to an election should always be studied but especially in this instance where the lunation occurs just before the opening of polls. 3 by geo Hey Mark! Thank you for your response, I appreciate that you are always sharing your knowledge, even to amateurs like me. Your previous thread on French elections, arouse many questions to me about delineating methods, and I was keen to start a new topic on this, unless Greek elections were a hotter subject to me at the moment. [?] Instead he proposes his own method which is to assign the 'favourite' as L1 and the underdog as 7. As far as I recall, in ?Horary textbook? Frawley advices to give 1H to favorite team, like you said, but, unless you have one, to give 1H to home team (that?s also what I?ve understand insofar glimpsing over the sport?s forum..) So, if we delineate an event chart as a horary one, why not parallel home team as the incumbent? The question of course is, how could both Bonatti?s and ?Sport?s? method be valid, let?s say in French elections chart? I was thinking, maybe it?s the house system we use for each of them. As you said, Bonatti?s method should rather be used along with placidus, as that?s the house system he used to work with. On the other hand, ?Sport?s? method maybe fits better with Whole Signs (don?t ask me to base this on traditional texts- it?s just thoughts based on a small sample of electoral charts..) In French elections chart WS, you immediately notice SN in 1H, which, in my view, is one of the greater afflictions in sports? contests. In Greek elections WS, you see Moon (people) in a very bad state, just separating its opposition to the Sun (king) and applying to Jupiter (L11= nation?s hopes). Although it?s through opposition again (which doesn?t give much stability), Jupiter is a benefic and exalts the Moon. Moon is totally 7H = the challenger, ruled by mars in virgo, literally reflecting Left wing?s uprising. So I think Left wing will be this election?s winner, but I don?t think a government will be formed. And I base this on these: 1. Key-planet Mercury, although in mutual reception to L7, mars, is in 12H, so unable to help, while it soon enters Taurus, thus favoring L1 2. Venus, L1, and thus event?s ruler in general, is about to trine MC ruler, Saturn, but it won?t; she?s going retro in 23Gem59 when Saturn is in 24Lib02! So close! Incidentally, I just wondered if you had looked at the Full Moon chart for April 6th? Our member Greg (Daz madrigal) used this chart to predict the outcome of the French presidential elections. I think the lunation prior to an election should always be studied but especially in this instance where the lunation occurs just before the opening of polls. Here you are: Well, with little astrological knowledge, i could say this chart smells tension & change, Moon is again crearly conj DC, and therefore PoF, while disposes by exalt. the ASC & by rulership 3H & IC. But what about the MC in late degrees, which definitely denotes change, but under the same ruler, Saturn? Nevertheless, that full moon in Scorpio is sooo reflecting these elections. I haven?t heard media before mentioning the full moon of the election?s date (and, as I?ve already said, there have been a lot of full moon elections in Greece?s recent history) People are willing to lose their ?Taurus? safety in order to fight back this filthy economical war. I also remember you arguing in a previous thread about Greece fitting the sign of cancer* In this case the full moon in Scorpio could have a stronger (hope not disastrous) meaning. *[BTW, activated by your comment, I started a statistic?s search back then, concerning major historic events- still unfinished-, which showed a predominance in cardinal signs, specially cancer (& libra)] The other question is, in cases of countries were the elections are held on a particular date, such as France, if delineating the election?s date was always giving a clear outcome, then doesn?t it proclaim a governments? endurance even before its very beginning? 5 by geo As in a few hours the polls open for the Greek elections 17 june 2012, I would like to share some thoughts. Unlike the elections of 6 may, where I used the sports' analogy, this time there is no "favorite" or "status quo", so I was thinking to apply Mark's suggestion to assign MC trip rulers to the candidate parties: Venus & Mars (Hellinistic) I think Venus, as a middle class representative, suits better ND liberal party (which is for the memorandum), while Mars in virgo suits better the working classes, thus the left party SYRIZA (against memorandum) L10 in detriment in 12H cusp, suggests either the current situation as it is with no government, or that the future gov will be a weak one. Mars being stronger than venus (angular, while Venus is debilitated in 12H) and being also Moon's last aspect, gives in my opinion the victory to left party SYRIZA. Both Mars & Venus are (again) disposed by Mercury: they can't govern without a third party's contribution. This mercury is the most dignified planet in the chart, in 1H and in its joy: that third party will be the actual regulator of things. Good luck, Greece Quote Sat Jun 16, 2012 10:45 pm
6 by james_m the dates of birth for the 2 leaders are worth looking at. i don't have the time of day, so i have set both for noon. they are both born in athens. anotonis samaras - 23 may 1951 alexis tsipras - 28 july 1974 this will be an oversimplification but i think a superficial glance (given the fact i don't have an exact birth time for either) favours samaras. 8 by james_m geo moon in gemini also favours samaras and is probably the first position in the transit chart that i look at. the moon has gone from taurus to gemini over this 2 day election exercise. also, venus is in gemini where samaras sun/mars conjunction is.. and as far as south node is concerned, which also includes neptune squaring onto nodal axis if you include outers, it is a mixed bag. either one views the nodal axis as a mix of good and bad, or it is all bad especially on the south end.. i think the former so north node in solar 7th favours relationships with the public. interestingly romney who is running in the usa election and shafik in the egypt election have similar set ups to the nodal axis.. it will be interesting to see how it plays out if for no other reason then to watch from this point of view. 10 by james_m both samaras and shafik the egyptian politician have north node in the solar 10th which might naturally favour a role in government.. romney on the other hand has it in solar 4th - natal 1st and squared by mars exact. i think this is not helpful for romney, although when the usa election actually takes place transit of north node will be conjunct his moon/jupiter conjunction so maybe he can pull a rabbit out of the hat and have a chance at the presidency.. i lean towards an obama win at this point, but will make a more informed comment sometime later. the nodal axis is an interesting consideration which i never used to bother with up until more recently. i have had a change of heart and it is good to be flexible and imagine or incorporate different views on astrology that may have merit, even if i haven't spent a huge amount of time with them.
