Graphic artists, cartoonists 1 by damon Hi What would you look for in the chart of comics artists? I checked a few in ADbank,Herge,Goscinny and Uderzo. Couldnt find much except maybe an emphasis on Gemini and Cancer. I suppose Mercury(hands) would be important, but found nothing significant so far Update: in psychological astrlogy Charles Carter refers amongst others the 3rd degree of air signs as talented for drawing and painting.Thats where my AC and Mercury are. I wonder how he got it so accurate. He must have needed tones of charts. Yet he is one of the moderns isnt he? I dont know exactly what his influences were but he found stuff that is not mentioned in ancient books. It makes sense that the second decanate of Gemini features strong amongst writers and mid Pisces in astrologers. The early part of a sign has influences from previous sign. Still,0 degrees of certain signs are regarded as dangerous or homicidal, like Auarius and Leo, but I dont get the logic behind it. Could it be due to undefined identity? Quote Wed Jan 02, 2013 2:16 pm
2 by Tzadde Hello, I have looked at the charts of 5 artists (Disney, Herg?, Peyo, Uderzo and Goscinny) to find some common traits, and here is what I've found: 1. Either the Sun or the Moon is in any Air Sign. I have checked the sect, this is regardless. 2. All of them has 5th WSH ruler in angular division. 3. Interestingly, Mercury and Venus aren't a team... they seem rather erratic. Disney - Mercury cadent, Venus succedant. Herg? - Mercury combust and in 11th, Venus angular and in detriment. Peyo - Mercury Rx, Venus in triplicity, both in Cancer, in 11th and combust. Uderzo - Mercury cadent (although in 11th WSH), Venus angular. Goscinny - Mercury Rx and cadent by division, but angular by WSH, while Venus is in triplicity (Cancer) and cadent by both systems. I was surprised, I expected them to work together, but in two cases they are in aversion. The common trait is Venus stronger than Mercury, although in Goscinny's case I can't vouch for that. But if we look at the Lights, we will find that at least one of them is angular or in 11th (which is close to being angular) by division... Disney - Moon in 1st division and 2nd Sign. Herg? - Moon conjunct IC, in 3rd Sign. Peyo - Sun in 11th division and Sign. Uderzo - Moon conjunct MC, in 9th Sign. Goscinny - Sun conjunct Asc, in Leo. Links: Walt Disney Herg? 3 by damon Thanks Tzadde Noitice how a few of them have planets around the 3rd degree of air as Carter would predict Quote Wed Jan 02, 2013 5:39 pm
4 by Tzadde You're welcome. A few don't make a rule. I think you noticed that 0? and a few minutes are actually the first degree, so when you say "3rd degree", you are actually referring to 2? and some minutes. I didn't notice in any chart a planet in this degree, not even around. Maybe you have looked at something else? Just as a note, I don't use degrees at all, unless it is something specific where they can be useful. For example, the Sun's exaltation degree is 19? Aries and can be used for the calculation of the Lot of Exaltation in day charts: Asc + 19? Aries - Sun. For the night charts, the formula is Asc + 3? Taurus - Moon. Another way to use degrees in traditional astrology is by terms. The 3rd degree in Gemini and Aquarius is in Mercury's term, while in Libra is in Saturn's. Back to the topic, I have found out why Goscinny didn't fit in the string of cartoonists with strong Venus: because he was a story-writer. In the comics world, there are two main creators: the graphic artists and the writers. The latter describes the characters, the places, the action, the colors and write the characters' words. The former draws according to the writer's vision. So the first four charts belong to the artists and the fifth to the writer, hence Mercury being more powerful than Venus. Amor ordinem nescit. 5 by damon There is one who hasnt 5th ruler angular-Disney. ruler is in its own house in 5th I noticed that another,Bob de Moor has 3 of Gemini rising like me I used to make comics but my 5th ruler is in 8th-Venus.Odd. The only angular planet I have,Jupiter in MC rules 7th and 11th, but as far as I know these arent related to drawing. More like law(7th) and groups or astrology(11th) Thanks Quote Wed Jan 02, 2013 10:48 pm
6 by Tzadde Disney has Saturn as ruler of 5th House and he is in Capricorn, in 4th by division, thus is angular. There is no doubt about that. Bob de Moor has Asc in 3?21' Gemini, that means 4th degree. Link: http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Moor,_Bob_de Do you want to PM me your birth data? Just to check your Venus. 8 by Yuriy Looking at my chart, I was graduated from art school in architecture, lately while still being architectural designer all employers and clients mostly like my hand drawings and renderings. And they a bit cartoonish. And my son also wants to be graphic artist (as a minor, major is computer science). My Venus in 7th in Taurus, in sguare to Leo MC, ruled by Sun in Taurus. Also Mercury rising before Sun (secondary indicator of profession by Ptolemy) also in Taurus, ruled by Venus. And in my son's chart Venus detriment in Aries but angular at IC, and his Mercury in Taurus, ruled by Venus, in 5th. He doesn't have that hand drawing technique as me yet, but definitely has good eye on modern cool, sleek styles which I don't often. Quote Thu Jan 03, 2013 6:01 pm
