I didn't delete anything, but if you posted your sales pitch on places other than this particular Forum, they don't belong there, and this was explained to you once before. The entire Forum is not a bulletin board for merchants.

I deleted your posts on all the other forums. I told you that already in my reply to you over a week ago.

The reasons were as Tom already gave. The site would become totally unmanageable if we allowed marketing notices like yours on every forum.

To repeat personal notices are only allowed on this bit of the forum. That has been the practice since Skyscript was established nearly 10 years ago.

I've followed your guidelines carefully from the time I read your post.

I'm talking here about a post I made in this section of the Forum that was deleted. In any case, it doesn't matter now.

Well, I'm not a merchant?I'm a private collector selling a few items that are of interest to Forum members. I'm not making any "sales pitch".

And I have limited my posts to this section of the Forum since Mark notified me of the rules.

I am not aware of that. The moderators have no general issue with people placing personal notices like yours here.

Actually you didn't. I had to delete your emails twice on all the other forums. Firstly, over a week ago when I first replied to you. Then just a couple of days ago you did it again.

Anyway, there shouldn't be any further problems if you restrict your notices to this part of the forum.

I don't care that you post appropriate things of interest in this section. But to deny that you're pitching by saying your wares might be of interest is a bit puzzling to say the least. If you're selling something here, or anywhere else, you're a merchant. Collectors collect; sales people sell. You're selling.

Furthermore you're presumably profiting while using this Forum, which has expenses borne by another with nothing reimbursed by you. Given those circumstances, you shouldn't be complaining about anything. Remember, you're a guest here.

I believe I removed a post of yours from another forum where you posted a similar sales pitch for the books (after Mark informed you about using this one). Is it possible you posted it in the wrong forum and got confused? In which case it would have been removed, but for good reason - it was posted in the wrong place.
I'm pretty certain I didn't remove it from this forum but if I did I apologise - that said I'm reasonably confident it was one of the other forums but I'm allowing benefit of the doubt.

Otherwise you may have hit 'preview' rather than submit. I've done this myself before a while back and thought my post was deleted before I realised what I'd done.

I'm offering a book in a narrow field to enthusiasts. In other words, I'm helping Forum members: and isn't that what this Forum is about? Judging by the response, your members are delighted.

And I'm happy to see a great book end up with the right person. I think Ben Dykes did a fantastic job with these books and I'm enthusiastic about them?that's why I bought them in the first place. They're gorgeous and really well done.

Given that, I'm not sure why you are trying to insult a member.

Actually I DID. I don't get email alerts. When I next visited the Forum and actually read your post, I adjusted my postings from then on.

You think I'm sitting here lying about something so silly? Wow.

I'm done. You guys are kind of rude and weird. You do a disservice to the members and I've deleted my post.

Whether you ignored or simply misunderstood me I honestly dont know. But you had a week to read my reply yet still reposted your ad all over Skyscript a couple of days ago.

Anyway, you got what you wanted which was free advertising for your sale on ebay. I dont think you can ask for more than that. Most sellers would be very happy with that rather than complaining here.

Lets face reality.... you were selling a product. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Capitalism is not a dirty word here. However, you weren't carrying out a social service on behalf of the astrological community as you seem to be implying. Your selling books. No doubt they are of interest to many of our members which is why your ads have stayed up here.

Lets not turn this into a silly argument over nothing.

That's not our problem. You're using the services paid for by another for free and complaining about it. That you weren't able to make money on this one sale is not relevant.

We're astrology enthusiasts. Some may or may not be book enthusiasts - your specialty. You're not giving anything away either, so it is hardly a favor. You're looking for a business transaction - nothing more. And we even said that was OK in the appropriate place. You don't get to decide what is and isn't appropriate.

The Forum is not an advertising bulletin board. It's about sharing astrology knowledge. That's not an open invitation to pitchmen. No one said you couldn't post appropriately. That you chose not to get e-mail alerts is not our problem either. You created that one by yourself. Apparently you don't care to hear from other members unless they are opening their wallets on eBay.

You became a "member" not to contribute but to take. In fact you only became a member the day before your first advertisement. You became a member in order to obtain free advertising - nothing else. You got that, but demanded more in inappropriate places. It is not reasonable to think that you couldn't figure this out yourself.
