Healing a chart 1 by damon Hi We know from Ben Dykes that if the AC ruler is poorly aspected one should look for personal happiness via triplicity rulers. What else did they advise clients? If the Sun was in the evil houses what would you advise your client? Or the Moon? I was thinking. When it comes to excessive phlegm the logical advice would be to tell the person to eat fire foods like garlic, onions, live in a hot climate,or wear red colors to name a few. Thanks Quote Wed Jan 02, 2013 11:25 am
2 by Kenneth Johnson Try to find the works of Marsilio Ficino. He gives more planetary remedies than anyone else in medieval astrology. Quote Sun Jan 06, 2013 9:05 pm
Ficino 3 by astralwanderer Yes - this is definitely the realm of Ficino. Nicholas Culpeper would also be a good source of information. Two (relatively) modern books that bear on the topic are Graeme Tobyn's Culpeper's Medicine: A Practice of Western Holistic Medicine and Thomas Moore's The Planets Within. In the second book, Moore considers Ficino's astrological psychology from a sympathetic viewpoint. In my view, Thomas Moore is one of those people who understand astrology better than many astrologers do. Another individual in this realm in this recently deceased James Hillman. He developed the post-Jungian form of psychotherapy known as archetypal psychology. All the best. Ed Quote Tue Jan 08, 2013 7:32 pm

5 by Kenneth Johnson If you can't find Ficino. Thomas Moore really is a good substitute. He respects the subject matter and treats it with integrity. His knowledge of medieval astrology leaves a bit to be desired. One chapter is entitled something like "The Theology of Sun Signs." He doesn't seem to realize that sun signs did not become a primary astrological emphasis until the early 20th century. But I am engaing in historical nit-picking here. By and large, an excellent book which will introduce you to most of Ficino's actual "planetary remedies." Quote Thu Jan 10, 2013 8:19 pm
De vita libri tres 6 by lihin Good morning, Sig. Marsilio Ficino's book most relevant to this thread's subject is quite probably De vita libri tres, available in a recommendable English translation, alas quite dear, Three Books on Life. As usual, one benefits more by reading original texts or reasonably good translations than from books about books and their authors. Professor and medical doctor Marsilio Ficino indeed played a significant role in the transmission of hermetic tradition including astrology but his attempts at intellectual reconciliation between Heathenism and Christianity were, put mildly, not well received by ecclesiastical authorities. Best regards, lihin Non esse nihil non est. Quote Fri Jan 11, 2013 4:43 am
7 by james_m angela voss wrote a book 'marsilio ficino' that i thought was quite good. it contains much of his writing pulled from numerous books he wrote. here is an article by her 2001, 5 years prior to the release of this book i refer to. http://cura.free.fr/decem/10voss.html Quote Fri Jan 11, 2013 5:00 pm

The new translation might be a bit expensive, true, but you can still find the Charles Boer translation, "Book of Life," which includes the same three tracts. Boer did a lot of translations for Jungian publications but this one suffers a bit because he doesn't really understand medieval astrology. Still better than nothing, and the planetary remedies are quite clear and comprehensible despite the fact that Boer doesn't seem to know what the terms and decans are all about. If you have the money, the newer translation (can't remember the translator's name and I am in Guatemala, far away from my library) is much better. The only reason that Ficino escaped full-on Church persecution was because he was the personal physician to Lorenzo di Medici, hence under the protection of one of the most powerful men in Europe. It was Ficino who first translated the Corpus Hermeticum. The di Medicis encouraged their artists to study with Ficino, but the only one who seems to have taken such studies seriously was Botticelli. A great deal of the esoteric symbolism in Botticelli's "pagan" paintings like "Primavera" and "Birth of Venus" comes directly from his studies with Ficino. Quote Wed Jan 16, 2013 5:14 pm
