From an astrological perspective I feel obliged to back the 5,2:1 favourite Economic Crises in the 14:15 BST at Ayr today, July 30. The chart shows Asc 5SC42 Moon 17CP46 and the 5th; Regiomontanus 24PI45, Placidus 24PI18 and Campanus 13PI27.

The question is how the chart could favour the other horses like Decision by One at 2,2:1 favourite or One Kool Dude at the price of 4,1:1. The cusp of the 5th house is in mulitple Pisces, with the ruler Jupiter in its detriment in double sign Gemini. Accepting either Regio or Placidus cusps there is the square to Venus at 24GE00 who is in sign with the Moon's South Node and detrimented Jupiter. There is also the inconjunct to Saturn at 23LI50.

Betting went bananas towards the start with the final odds on Decision By One being 1,2:1 and Economic Crises being 11,5:1. Economic Crises was withdrawn on the line and did not start. The race was won by Decision By One with One Kool Dude coming 2nd. Fancy that!

Although this topic is somewhat dated I thought it best to post here.

Having just recently come across Addey's method of using the first traditional planet aspected (traditional only, and not including separations) by progressing the Campanus 5th house cusp through the zodiac, I thought it would be difficult to match colours or name to the indicated planet.

In the 4 races I have looked at for today, Boxing Day, 26th December 2012 I found it surprisingly easy to match horse to planet by using colours and name.

The Moon is VoC all afternoon and so should affect all the races. Clearly most have not been won by the favourite

At Ascot, in the first four races the favourite won in two, in one the winner was at 12/1 and in the other the winner was 33/1. At Newmarket only one of the first four races was won by the favourite.

I don't think VoC Moon necessarily means the favourite wins.
