If you are now forty, you are on the verge of leaving the Ptolemaic age of the Sun and about to enter that of Mars. This is a significant transition for many of us and sometimes brings struggle in its wake. You have an idea of astrology and you will know how to pursue this line of thought further in relation to your natal chart.
Also, if your chart is diurnal, you have just entered the firdar of Satrun (and sub-firdar of Saturn). In this case, look at Saturn's condition and aspects in your natal chart.

The upanishad you have quoted does have various remedial measures towards the end of it..(adhyaya 6, Brahman 3 and 4)

Thank you for all your responses. I'm definitely approaching this from a practical perspective, where I'm not seeking anything "magical" or trying for astrology to deliver something to me without effort on my part. I am however stuck in a bad situation in that I've never been this unclear about what to do. There's a lot going on in my life that I'm sure is contributing to things being cloudy for me so I'm looking to astrology to help me shed light into which direction might prove the most successful at this time in my life - as in hint to where I may find an opportunity that would allow me to find financial rewards/some sort of work solution anyway that works for my life.

I've heard different things about SRs. Transits may be short term it seems. Horary allows yes/no answers which may not be best suited for me since I'm so unclear. Progressions seem to be more interesting but what about lunar returns? What else may be options that I as an amateur may not know of?

I've gathered from my studies on my own natal a few things: I have a difficult jupiter to contend with - in its fall. Strong venus and saturn actually - trine mars my ruler/uranus. That uranus/mars conjunction on my DC has definitely inflicted a lot of pain on me with breaking relationships both personal/professionally. I've always been successful working on my own and happier to do so though my clients have always been big businesses - I work in sales and HR as a recruiter. I've done career coaching and global executive recruiting. All seems to fit my "natural" talents though I'm not sure I've always been happy doing it. I'm good at it and it affords me the lifestyle I enjoy.

Now with 2 kids, I am at a different time altogether in my life and feel very unsettled career wise. I find myself with low energy and motivations in working in this field in general. It seems however that I'm such a good fit for this vocation however. I see Tpluto on my MC which may explain my interest currently in exploring other things. I just don't know if I should continue with this track in some other format.

I hadn't even finished thoroughly reading and I got your data into my astro software and I see transit Pluto on your MC. The locus of your concerns would seem to be wrapped up in this transit.

Prior to that I noticed your Uranus is only 1 arcminute from conjuncting my Sun. I believe Haumea is transitting conjunct this. If this is what you meant by "other things"

I can see you did mention the Pluto transit, but perhaps you havn't realized your immersed in it. I say that since you said

Start with the tail(Transits).
Try this.
Your moon is in Virgo.
Think if good events happened when:
When Jupiter was in Libra,Capricorn,Pisces,Taurus and Cancer.

Jupiter in Cancer would be the next one coming.

Then work your way up to progressions.

Thank you for your comment and interpretation - I guess I'm too much of an amateur to recognize what a triple transit of saturn conjunct sun means. Would you be so kind as to explain/elaborate please?

Re: my TPluto conj MC - yes I have read that that aspect marks a clear conflict in career interests or a turn in the native's career path. It certainly applies to me in that I'd LOVE to do something else or leverage my professional background to do something different than what I have been for the past decade. However, I'm in a muddle as to what that might entail. Saturn is in gemini natally - does that mean I will be doing 2 jobs (GEM)? Does that mean doing something with youth? I've heard GEM rep the young. Any other possibilities?

Re: the post about looking at my jup transits and then going to progressions. I have no idea how to read progressions really - seems complex taking all aspects into account. In terms of transits, it seems like Jup is moving to Cancer in July 2013 - is that right? Can I expect any good news prior to then??

You are asking or looking for two kinds of analyses.

First you want to determine what is your appropriate career path. One famous astrologer bases this almost entirely on the Midheaven, which only gives information about what you might be successfull at. In reality you need to also look at what your aptitudes show, and what kind of environment you are best suited to working in.

Secondly you want to look at your prospects for the next couple of years in regards to careers, and I would look at that in a Mars Return.

Finally you may need to llok at your financial and relationships during the same period and this would require a Venus Return.

When you've been out of the workforce for awhile, you are looking at a lot of aspects of this in your life.

What did you do before, what are you thinking of doing now, and is this going to require re-education?

For any return chart, i would need your current longitude and latitude.
