I'm aware of Mercury's sect being determined by position relative to the Sun in a diurnal or nocturnal figure but I'm not sure if Valens makes such a distinction. In The Antholgy he wrote:

In view of the data you disclosed, I shall only post what, amongst other observations which did not, in fact, result pertinent or correct, to me, would seem appropriate. I mostly follow horary posts but find natal astrology very challenging.

AC ruler Jupiter conjunct MC in Libra, at critical degree.

Sun in Capricorn, ruling 9th house is placed in 1st house, ruled by Jupiter. A strong, sort of stern, primitive ego, I would say.

In spite of specific indications from moderator, in this case I would point out that Sun is conjunct fixed star Vega, presently at 15?27? Capricorn, whose significance could give strong indications as to the direction of Sun?s influence onto the person involved.

This is how I?d basically read Saturn and Mars in 4th house Aries, quincunx an ill-placed Moon in Scorpio: the aethernal family issues between parental figures, their conflicts and the way a child develops in view of his life experiences within the nucleus.
His self-esteem (2nd house) depended upon the satisfaction of his own needs for a justice which was possibly lacking within his family of origin. An overpowering father? An ill-treated mother?

As far as number of marriages, interesting to note that a basic rule which has extensively been discussed in astro.com forum, would seem to apply:
number of aspects Sun/Moon (in this case, Moon) makes before leaving the sign
although there would be a second aspect to Venus (he possibly had an affair which did not bring him to ask for divorce, though).

As for children: 5th house Taurus, ruled by Venus; 2nd house,= Taurus, in Capricorn, a feminine sign. I would say there is a reception here by sign/house rulership: Moon in Scorpio and Mars in 4th house. A man whose strong fertility was necessary to his wife to be enough fertile herself.

You mention the Moon being in opposition to Saturn and Mars - I presume this is a typo as they are actually in aversion.

thank you for posting the Valens quote.

I do find it interesting the WS houses compared with Placidus or such and interested how you would add in the WS houses into the interpretation (if at all), because as you say the MC/IC axis seem to be the key here, really.

Having come late to this entire traditional forum and mystery chart discussion, and being thoroughly confused about where to look for the charts and answers (traditional, sidereal, general...???), wouldn't it be best to have a separate Mystery Chart Forum where anyone can post using any house system or zodiac? I don't know if such a new forum (topic?) would need a new moderator? On such a forum anyone could post a new mystery chart.

Also it would be helpful to have the full birth data posted so anyone who uses a different zodiac or house system can compute the chart the way they like it. I couldn't read the posted charts on my computer as degrees were blurred. And the black charts can't be printed out. Who wants to use all that ink or toner?

I don't think it works to have sidereal answers posted on a different forum than the one where the chart is originally posted. It seems to me that having an open mystery chart forum would be a place where everyone could learn the different approaches to interpretation.

eg:if someone wants to brush up on the Traditional techniques and posts a quiz for a chart to be handled with Traditional techniques.

Which leaves anyone out on a limb if they use traditional techniques in the sidereal zodiac as Martin and I do along with a few others.
