What significator would you use for a pregnancy question but the pregnancy would be through an egg donor and not the querent's own eggs?
Would it still be the 5th from the 1st as quesited? Or would it be the 5th from the 7th house as the other's children?

A very interesting question! The best would be to examine both possibilities, houses 5th and 11th, by concrete horary questions and thus to find the appropiate house.

Theoretically I would tend to stick to the 5th house because by carrying the child to term this baby becomes this mother's own child - independently of the fact, that the egg had been a donor. Already by implanting the donor eggs into the uterus they become this woman's "own" eggs in my opinion.

I believe Johannes's wisdom is entirely correct in this Aquarian age type question, if the Mayans were correct in their calculation; we can expect far more off-beat questions like this in the future.

IE.#1) A Father of a child whether married to the woman for life, from a sperm donor, or an out of wedlock one night stand on saturday night, is still a sperm donor.

IE#2) It's logical that regardless of who giveth the egg, the child will be coming from the mother's womb so the pregnacy or rather delivery, having the child can only be hers

Of course I'd love to see and think about the other houses involved on this one!

Thanks for all your responses. I thought it was the 5th house but wanted others to confirm I was on the right track!

As Clinton Soule mentions, we're facing more and more questions nowadays that require a thorough examination of the situation even before the charts are cast. What makes such questions and situations puzzling is, obviously, the lack of mention of the appropriate astrological symbolism in the traditional texts (what a surprise! ).

But, technically, I agree that we should keep it simple; although women are offered different forms of help in their attempts to become pregnant nowadays, pregnancies and childbirths remain what they always were- one of the few most primal and authentic activities, or states if you like, of the humankind. So, if you ask me, it definitely belongs to the 5th. The child that the querent will give birth to is still her own child. More importantly, she will give birth to it.

As for the donor, although the process of artificial insemination can be examined through the house that rules health and medical help, personally, if I were to delineate a chart that included a question regarding the potential sperm donor, I would probably go for the 7th again as it rules not only the Querent's partners but also the OTHER party in the process. The other option would obviously be to take the house the rules the child's father as relevant.
