this is a technical question related to gorans comment that perhaps goran or someone else would like to comment on... jupiter in gemini is in it's determent and under the beams in a weakened position given all that.. i am curious though about the fact that it is in the ascendant rising.. what strength is conferred on the chart as a consequence of that? in other words does the sign dominate the house position close to the ascendant which is said to always strengthen a planet rising?

thanks
james
A planet under the beams is said to be "blind", it cannot see the rest of the planets and they cannot see him. This means its power, symbolized by its own light, is obliterated/nullified.

In the length of life calculations/considerations, a planet under the beams is unable to either augment or diminish the years of life signified by alcocoden. The same rule applies if a planet is cadent.

Interestingly, in The Search of the Heart I find this analogy clearly drawn and spelled out

The place from the Sun is no less three-fold formed:eastern, western, under the Sun.

Being eastern is akin to a pivot.
Being western, to an advancing [place].
Being under the Sun, to the remote [places].

Chapter III.3: On discerning the path, p. 147

So it appears that while Jupiter gains in accidental strength by being in the angle of the 1st, he also loses the same by landing under the beams - admittedly, he's just entered these so perhaps we may grant him some leeway.

In any case, detriment remains as an impediment to his essentially beneficent nature.

We'll see how all these factors influence the outcome of the matter given also his additional importance as the lord of the SAN.

I hope his essentially beneficent nature proves to be sufficient for bringing the matter to a successful conclusion - or at least the grater part of it.

thanks goran.

i have the book you cite, but have yet to read it. i am busy getting thru a few others at present.

i am curious how you would interpret the conjunction of jupiter with the other benefic venus? both land in the first and are conjunct the ascendant ruler as well. even before one goes into what house a planet rules, the planet or planets have even greater bearing on the house they actually reside in, according to morin anyway.. one might make the conclusion the fact the 2 benefics are in the first is a positive sign on the overall chart, in spite of jupiter being in the sign gemini or technically 'under the beams'. venus/mercury conjunction to jupiter might be considered a net positive towards jupiter as well, or not depending on how one interprets or weighs all these different factors. i suppose this is yet another reason i enjoy it when closure happens and the person who asks the question comes back to give an update on the outcome.

:' :D Thanks and all the best to you, julz87!
Sure, all exams have a date some courses finish before others. I passed one course already last month but it was an easy one for me, Psychology.

June 11 is Biology will be my second out of 4 exams (the first one was horrible) the third will be July 9 and the last July 11

Math will be June 12 :( last exam. My worst subject.

Language will be June 24

Social Science (sociology)final will be July 5, the first one was barely passing.

Philosophy my final will be June 24

Chemistry will be July 10 will be my final exam. (the first one was easy for me)

and lastly is Art and Sport but I am ok in those.

One of you guys mentioned about having to retake some of them, well I do have a opportunity to retake them. only if my overall grade of the course is at the required minimum score. So yes I do have an opportunity to retake them. I have a feeling I may have to retake 3 out of all the courses that being math, bio and language. Also depending on what my score is on that retake for the assigned course will determine if I pass the course or not.

I really do hope I pass these courses though :( I think what is making it difficult is that I am studying abroad in a language that is not my first :(

I will keep you guys posted.

julz87,

Correct me if you please. You asked a question about examination which are yet to take place. You can study really hard and make a difference.

I am asking a question. I hope you dont mind answering it. Suppose if you had not asked the question, would you be more confident right now. The reason I am asking it is that reading of most of the skyscript members (Taking the majority consensus) is not 100% positive. :)

Hi all
this is my first post in this fine forum
I will use my program , because iam in the first step of astrology

Image

- The lord and the signifigator of the ascendent is Mercury , and he is in the ascendent , and trines the Moon which is the signifigator in horraries , and the Moon is in the 9th which is the home of the exam (high studdies)
and in the 9th we see the pars of hppiness in conjunction with the Moon and trines the lord of the ascendent
that means the happines comes from the high studies , especially the lord of the nineth Saturn is in the 9th from the 9th , of course this is very good

and i see , the pars of success is in the 5th and his lord in the ascenden in conjunction with Mercury and Jupiter . Also this is very good for the chance of success .

who said , jupiter in detrement , thats right , but thats is not good for high success , not for unsuccess

For all that , theres asuccess with some troubles and fears because the retrograde of Saturn

And i will not forget the lord of the hour (Jupiter) which is in agood place and conjuction its lord Mercury

sorry for my weak English
Regards

It may be put that way, but the prospects for success would be considerably higher if the POF were angular and its ruler Saturn in the 10th/11th or at least in an angle from it, aspecting it more closely than it does in this chart and unafflicted.

Being in the 9th from the POF is usually no conspicuous sign for prosperity of the matter because the 9th is one of the cadent houses - though also the most 'fortunate' one.

Moreover, POF in the 9th may just represent one of the possible indicators for the focus of the querent's thoughts.

Welcome to the Skyscript. Your analysis is very good and we hope that you would be contributing a lot in future. Language is not a problem. And yours is far better than mine. I was curious that you belong from Syria. Can you tell us which Horary Texts (books) influence your reading? :)
Thanks Gryffindor

In general , i preffer the traditional astrology , as : Albeiruni , Mashallah , Lilly , Bonatti , ?

You are right , but we know when we want to estimate things , we see terms as : higher , strongest , better , and so

Angular has the strongest place not for soul things as success, but for material things as power and so
Especially here, the lord of the 9th house is saturn which is amalefic in his nature . So if he is in the 10th house the question will be malefic one and Potlomy says : judge malefic to aquestion one of the malefics at anangular

On the other hand, the triangel 1,5,9 is the best , not strongest , and this best is more suitable for soul or soft things. And that is may be the reason why the astrologers consider him the more happiness
And of course there is adifference between power and happiness

So, Saturns retrograde here is not bad , because this bad reduces his malefhcs

And thouh the 9th house is cadent, he is the place and the house of the question naturally

- Of course , we have more points to clearify the question. For ex. If we count the benefics points , and the points of malefics
we see the difference between them . SO, God said: benefics defeat the malefics

I want to say another thing about the case of the planet , and the meaning of the question
When we see the lord of aquestion at afortunate house , that is good for gaining the aim, while the case of the planet- ret. or perg.- reffers to the how the aim will be

10th whole sign house from ascendant/POF is both 2nd most powerful and most prosperous/best house, all the authorities stress this.
POF is the part of the Moon, denoting material, tangible prosperity as the Moon symbolizes body primarily, along with the ASC. Their rulers, along with the significations of the part of spirit, denote the matters of soul.

Since taking the exams tends to produce quite tangible results which may influence one's future quite tangibly...I don't see why you connect success primarily with soul and power with material things? :???:

They can and do go both ways and are often very tightly interconnected by the very nature of human existence.

As for the matter of the POF its ruler, it is always more advantageous to have it in the 10th whole sign house from the POF itself, (regardless of its nature) closely aspecting the lot. Of course it is worse if that ruler is a malefic and afflicted - if you read carefully my previous post, I've already mentioned the afflicted Saturn and that's why I think there's no great success in sight - especially because he's also the ruler of the Moon and the 9th.
Being cadent from ASC, his significations are made pretty weak!

The remote [place]: transitory, idle, varying, lost and remote things, so that it speaks against the hope of good things just as it makes the grief of bad things fail. Chapter III.3:On discerning the path
The Search of the Heart, p. 147
So, Saturns retrograde here is not bad , because this bad reduces his malefhcs
Sorry, I have to disagree.
The retrogradation of any planet is denoted as weakness/affliction by all the authorities, and the ones you mentioned are no exception in this regard. Now Abu Ma'shar does say that the superior planets aren't as afflicted by retrogradation as the inferior ones if they enjoy some some dignity in the sign they are in. Saturn is peregrine in this chart..

These authorities are actually the ones I follow too, so I'm afraid one of us is reading them wrong and I'd say it's you.
On the other hand, the triangel 1,5,9 is the best
I disagree again.
Trine as an aspect is best, but the houses in trine to the ascendant are not the best - they are of the good ones.
The 10th/11th, along with the 1st, are best(and 11th is among strongest at the same time)!
