A Resource Comparing Rules? 1 by JPskyman Hello, One thing that I find frustrating in astrology is that there seem to be so many different rules and conventions from the different eras and schools of traditional astrology that it is hard to know what or where to apply. For example, there are different rules on applying Sect to a chart--whether it is solely based on whether the Sun is above/below the horizon without regard to the whether the planet in question is above/below the horizon--or whether the planet TOO must be above/below to determine Sect. Another is the concept of Detriment--in Hellenistic practice, the scholars did not ascribe much difficulty to a planet in its detriment compared to a planet in its fall--my understanding is that this subsequently changed in the Medieval era. Does anyone know of a good resource that has perhaps a side-by-side chart on rules like these? Such a compilation of say Hellenistic, Medieval, Lillyian views, understanding that there is some variety inside each, would be most helpful. Thanks! Quote Mon Jul 01, 2013 4:44 pm
