Essential Dignity

1
I was reading an article by Deborah about the Essential Dignities (good article), and she gave a little test.
?In which three signs is Venus essentially debilitated??.....the correct answer of course, being Scorpio Aries and Virgo.
The first chart I looked at after reading that has Venus at 28 Virgo in a day chart. So?.although she is in Fall, she is also in Triplicity, being the day ruler. And in different degrees, she could also be in Term or Face. Obviously she is not peregrine, and could be in ?not that bad a shape?.
Any comments here on her essential dignity shape? (She is also Unaspected

A planet essentially dignified in the place of it's detriment or fall is a person in the wrong place for the right reasons. With Venus in her own terms in Aries or Scorpio a nurse may be place in the midst of a Battlefield, a hospital or other centre of calamity, yet this would be the place where she mastered circumstances better than any other.

A planet with dignity by face does not have the same virtue of action, but may still be a participant in the capacity of an observer.

Well, I'm trying to understand....I suppose....the philosophy behind this. Perhaps the thinking of the original authors is what I'm trying to say.

It seems a bit of a contradiction to me for Venus to be Triplicity Ruler for Earth, yet be in Fall in Virgo.

In the same way it really doesn't make sense to me for Mars to be day and night ruler for Water, yet be in Fall in Cancer.

I feel like I am missing an important concept here.

I lectured on this in Warsaw earlier this year. With the planets in their own triplicity there is always resources, funding, a network or circle of friends. When the planets are in their detriment or fall at this time there is a double call. If, for instance, Mars is in Cancer, there will be resources, but you would still be dealing with the family - and in the worst case, the Mafia! 8)

If the problem is with Venus, Lee, here are a few perspectives. I did work with the financial markets in the 90's where the degree of Venus' fall was significant and showing up in cases involving the interest rate. Let me explain it like this; interest is something you have to pay because you 'fall' to take out something you don't really own. You get what you want, but the interest is the price and duty that accompanies the pay back.

Now Venus is in her own triplicity in Virgo by day, so how does this work out when she at the same is in the sign of her fall? The key to understanding the problem comes with the word 'sponsor'. With Venus in her own triplicity there is a circle of friends, a network and a funding. The problem with Venus in Virgo is that this funding and support is conditional. You get the money, support and are sponsored to do what ever you want to do, but someone may regulate your affairs or dictate you in a way that is commercially or ethically disturbing to your ideals or ambitions of self-management. So with Venus dignified by triplicity, yet in her fall, you are provided with the means to do what you want, but there is a catch or a commitment to bear over with.

Hello,

as Andrew demonstrated very well in the example, the point about a planet's triplicity rulership and contemporary debility is to combine two states (of a person, situation etc):
? triplicity is a moderate strength and indicates being supported by others around someone/thing (although authors of past times do not agree regarding from where this support is coming: relatives or friends or coworkers)
? detriment and fall indicate a corrupted power/action, a weakened possibility to act; eg. Al Biruni says about fall that the planet is like "confined to a tight place or cave".
I think that the two states can be interpreted as someone/thing being aided by others but/and at the same time being hindered in the action.

Andrew,
Thanks ever so much!

That was a quite lucid and logical explatation which I had never encountered before.

That gave me a better understanding of the duality of possibilities extant in any given situation.
