Hermetic lots in SF and Morinus 1 by Graham F Hello Does anyone know if it's possible to configure, in either Solar Fire or Morinus (the free one), the 7 Hermetic lots (as given for example in Chris Brennan's paper http://www.chrisbrennanastrologer.com/B ... ionale.pdf)? Neither programme seems able to calculate lots using the lot of Spirit in the formula. I seem to remember there being a a small downloadable file that could be used to replace the default ones in SF, which I thought might help, but I can't find it now. I want to use the lots as given by Paulinus and "approved" by Brennan, without the correction suggested by R. Schmidt which removes the sect distinction between the lots involving Spirit in the calculation. Also, I haven't been able to download and install any later versions of Morinus than 5.9, which I already had - the newer downloads don't seem to install. (I haven't tried the commercial downloading sites which ask you for lots of personal details.) Many thanks for any help. Graham Quote Sun Feb 23, 2014 1:01 pm
by Eric L The catch is that you can only program the Hermetic Lots in the Traditional Version of Morinus. It has no outer planets, but has several other useful features. I apologize if some of what I'm writing seems obvious to you, but without knowing your level of computer skills I'm going to try to be as clear and simple as I can be. https://sites.google.com/site/tradmorinus/morinus Download the MorinusWin.zip file. I strongly suggest creating a new folder and extracting the files to it. You can then copy the horoscope files in the Morinus/Hors directory of your old version into the same folder of the Traditional version. Hopefully you should have a working, up-to-date version of Morinus now. If not, please let me know what went wrong and I'll see if I can figure out what to do about it. At any event, it's time to set up some Lots. In the Lots window under options you should see the Lot of Fortune as 1. Add the formula for the Lot of Spirit as 2. For the rest of the Lots, when you want to use a Lot in the formula, select RE and then in the section that says "Reference" select the number corresponding to the Lot of your choice (1 for Fortune, 2 for Spirit). For reference, here's what the formula for the Lot of Necessity will come out as: Best of luck! Quote Sun Feb 23, 2014 5:41 pm
by Graham F Eric Thanks so much, all working perfectly, just what I wanted. I had some difficulty until I realised you have to download not with a right click on the link, but with the button on the far right (otherwise you get about 40 files unzipped, but I remember installing them all and it still didn't work). Also seem to have to put it all directly in C on the HD - if I put it in Programs I got a Python error message. I was wondering what the exclamation marks mean in the list of reference points (eg. SU!, AC! RE!). Do you know? Many thanks Graham Quote Sun Feb 23, 2014 6:55 pm
by Eric L Yes, the ! indicates a ruler. So for example, the Lot of the Destroyer would be AC + Mo - AC! Quote Sun Feb 23, 2014 7:37 pm
by Wolfgang There are diff. version of Morinus software. So whats the diff between 7.4.2 and 6.2? To produce Lots? (6.2) Ore more? Wolfgang Quote Mon Feb 24, 2014 10:01 am
by Eric L https://sites.google.com/site/tradmorinus/morinus The differences between Traditional (which is at version 6.2) and Modern (which is version 7.4.2) are all listed here. It's worth noting that the Modern version has been taken over by somebody else, who has developed it all the way to version 8, which is available here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/morinus/ Quote Mon Feb 24, 2014 4:34 pm
