Tests for Radicality of a chart 1 by Taurus7 I am curious as to the various ways that a chart can be deemed radical or not. I can think up of the following: 1) Planetary hour ruler agreement with the ascendant 2) Location of the primary rulers in houses pertaining to the question 3) State of primary rulers descriptive of the main players in the chart (e.g. in detriment, in their own sign and strong, or whatever) 4) Prior aspects of the Moon indicative of events that have just transpired (RELATED to the question???) 5) Prior aspects of the main rulers indicative of that which has just happened for the people or things signified by these rulers. What else? Thank you. Quote Wed Oct 26, 2005 9:13 pm
2 by Pete I think you've just about nailed it, T. I can't think of any more checks to put in the 'Radicality' box, and yes, in my view the prior aspects of the Moon (within moiety of orbs) ought to be related to the question. They should describe the events that have just transpired in the situation. Some horary astrologers would claim that the presence of any of the 'Considerations Before Judgement' deem a chart non-radical but I think that view is highly unreasonable, especially if the chart seems highly radical according to other criteria. They put the astrologer on an amber light and shouldn't be ignored, but they don't negate radicality by any means, unless the chart is loaded with them and non of the other signs of radicality are present. 3 by Taurus7 Ah Sir Peter!! A pleasure to make contact with you; where have you been? Miss Sabena keeping things busy in your old age?....(...grin..) Anyway, which one of these tests would you attach the most importance to, if any? Based on the number of hits this post got (i.e. not a lot), it would appear that people prefer to just read the chart, and don't give that much importance to radicality. Or maybe they know the rules too well to be interested in this... Thanks! Quote Sat Oct 29, 2005 3:31 pm
4 by Pete Ah Sir Peter!! A pleasure to make contact with you; where have you been? Miss Sabena keeping things busy in your old age?....(...grin..) Well you know, I can hardly summon the strength to tap the keyboard these days, T ....and when I reach my old age you'll be amongst the first to know Anyway, which one of these tests would you attach the most importance to, if any? Well they're all there to keep an eye on, but I'd say numbers one and two. It's very important that the position of the primary rulers describe the circumstances surrounding the question. Of equal importance I'd say, is the placement and condition of the Moon. Lilly puts great emphasis on this and for good reason: the house and sign of the Moon describe the emotional state of the querent, and where his/her real feelings lie with respect to the question. 6 by Pete Ms. Sabena - the woman must be a saint!! Not yet - but I'm working on it Or maybe it's just the free horaries for life that undoubtedly you have pledged to her as a small token of your undying love....(..grin..) T, only someone with Leo rising would consider free horaries for life to be a small token of anything God only know what I would give for a free consultation from you... Then I'd best consult God, since it looks like you're not going to divulge it. Nice to see that Saturn hasn't quashed your sense of humour, T. === Pete Quote Sat Oct 29, 2005 10:43 pm
7 by Gem hi taurus7 I read somewhere that Saturn on the AC damages the question(I don't know what that means) and that Saturn on the DC places a question mark on the ability of the astrologer to judge the question. I have no idea if these ideas are true... What do you think? Quote Mon Nov 07, 2005 12:06 pm
8 by Taurus7 I read somewhere that Saturn on the AC damages the question(I don't know what that means) and that Saturn on the DC places a question mark on the ability of the astrologer to judge the question I think Saturn on the AC is a warning sign that the person reading the chart may not be able to delineate clearly, and saturn on the DC is as you say. These are some of the "considerations before judgement". If you read this thread, I think Pete said something about taking these considerations as warnings only. Quote Wed Nov 09, 2005 4:32 pm
Saturn on the DC 9 by dream_harder Hello everyone, I'm also a complete beginner and this is my first post here I have a very similar problem. I've just asked a question: "Will X (someone I had a serious argument with some time ago) consider me his friend again?" At a first glance, the significators, forming an applying trine, seem to give a clear YES answer(as I still have some problems with turned houses, I considered two variants of significators - but still, in both cases there was a trine).. Moreover, Moon in 6 Sagittarius in 9 th house is applying to Mercury with an orb of almost 3 degrees, which I would interpret as some form of contact, perhaps a conversation (and it is conjunct one of the natal planets of X, the person I'm asking about - do you think it's of any importance?). But then I notice two problems, which can both mean my inability to judge the chart properly. Saturn is almost exactly on DC. Besides, it's debilitated in Leo and is the ruler of AC in Aquarius. Moreover, AC is conjunct Neptune... Do you think I should consider this chart as non-radical and give up trying to judge it or should I treat the above just as a warning that now I can only sit and wait and be careful not to be too much of a wishful thinker?
