I agree with you analysis on the 1st match, though I try to examine these charts differently than you. I do not use a static chart, but rotate the chart further to see what is going on during the match.
My problem came with 2nd one, namely my astro program gave me 15Lib24 as ASC.
The 3rd match is still under check.

Oh, and I just noticed that for Preston I got 14Lib36 as ASC, though this does not alter my opinion.

Regarding the UK games I tend to agree with your considerations. However, in Preston - Sheffield one should look at the position of the Moon. Remember that Preston are nicknamed the 'whites', 'lilliwhites'. The Moon is rising in the chart and is applying to Jupiter in Cancer and its dispositor Venus in Aquarius. This application should be a decisive factor unless it reaches Uranus first (I will check shortly before the game when I finish my work) or there are other negative strong factors which destroy the application to the dispositor.

According to your analysis regarding Rome - Udinese, I think that there are several considerations which might move the result away from the favourite.

First, the signs are to change. It is usually an indication for a draw, even a stronger one than 'when the guards are on the bridge', in particular if there is a favourite.

Second, I use Sun for Rome (Leo) and Saturn for Udinese (black/white combination). They are in the same triplicity. Significators in the same triplicity more often than the ruler of ASC and the ruler of the hour in the same triplicity produce draws. I can produce tables for most of the top leagues of European countries, and if one checks the games which ended draw and use significators as stated in the relevant tables, one will find out that nearly half of them were draw because the significators were in the same triplicity.

Third, it is a harmful indication for favourites if they must play at the hour when the sign which is the fall of their significator, like Libra for a Sun team, Virgo for a Venus team and so on.

Forth, the planet which receives the Moon's disposition should be considered. We are concerned with its reception with the significator. For example, if the significator is the Sun and the Moon applies to a planet in Libra (more harmful) or in Aquarius (less harmful), such application harms the Sun. Moreover, if the reception between the receiving planet and the significator is mutually negative.

I have a day job so don't post that frequently midweek. I'll skip tonight's games but will look at this weekends Premiership matches.

I think the question asked of me is why the Moon and its terms?

Does the chart suggest matters should go as expected or not. I read the charts similar to GB and Andrew. I also look at past trends, similar to that indicated by GB earlier.

I looked at Saturday's games and didn't see Chelsea winning but had to judge whether the game moved to a draw or Villa victory.

Is the Moon able to function as it would like. On Sunday I thought the Moon was weak by aspect to Sun and in the terms of a malefic. (Presently I am preferring Egyptian terms) so rather than going for draws I went for away victories.

Yes, I thought about posting the Moon in Egyptian terms but didn't feel confident enough, post reading Brady's Australia January 97 Congress paper.

Well, I didn't get anything out of yesterday's games. Janis' warnings could have been heeded (thanks for the input, Janis) - but unfortunately that didn't lead to the right answer either.

Preston - Sheffield U 0-0
Luton - Woking 0-1 (a true underdog)
Rome - Udinese 3-2

I think it is correct to say that both Woking and Udinese put up good performance. Woking had a goal disallowed in the 1st half, too. Regarding the Preston game, the home boys appeared the stronger team but it is still the goals that count and Sheffield U were probably robbed for a penalty in the last minutes of the match. I choked on my biscuits when Preston put on their substitute Beovon (pronounced 'Bevan') and suddenly I was on the field for the home side and up against myself. Luton and Rome did not win with handicaps - so this was not my night.

I've said it before but the sports section, and football department in particular, is for me like a playground and testfield for astrological research. It is an excellent place for examining theory and developing technique, finding out how things work - as it were. In this process it is important to form an opinion or an expection, or else you don't know where anything is and you'll only end up fooling yourelf. So finding out that a statement is untrue or is unreliable and does not provide the desired results is almost as valuable as scoring a hit (although not entirely..). Or it provides the opportunity of asking questions regarding the design of the contest or game, or other factors that influence the outfall.

I'm still up with about ?500 as of March month, but then maybe that is just a lucky hit and I should be cautious to make sure it doesn't all get idled away again. My current lunar return shows Leo on the cusp of the 2nd house with the Sun on the MC in Pisces.

I felt a little bit frustrated that the game did not end draw as it should have been considering the warnings I saw in the chart. When I was writing here yesterday I had not had an opportunity to check statistics (which, in my opinion, along with some other misconsiderations led me astray). When I saw the chart, I was so confident of my choice (draw) that forgot to check statistics. I did only when Rome took a 2 goal lead.

I would probably reiterate that predicting soccer (even if your methods are astrologically sound and honed to perfection which unfortunately is not the case) is a mixture of 60% of statistics and common sense and 40% of astrological judgment which should help pick the right choices (mainly, underdogs and draws).

Now back to the game and the chart. Statistics showed that Rome has been particularly good at home. 10 wins and only 3 draws, no losses this season so far. On the other hand, Udinese has been showing a particularly horrible away performance - 3 wins, 2 draws and 9 losses. The head ? to - head statistics also favour Rome; a win and a draw in last 8 for Udinese when playing on 'Roman' soil. Following the statistics it was unlikely that Udinese would get points on ?Roman? soil.

The other mistake of mine was paying too much attention to the weakness and affliction of the Sun (Rome) but no attention to the condition of Saturn (Udinese) whether it is able to fulfil the promises shown in the chart. Saturn was not in a great shape - itself retrograde with its dispositor Mars also retrograde, in the 12th quadrant house but angular by whole house.

Furthermore, having re-checked the chart after the game ended, I noticed that the Moon applied first to the angular and exalted Jupiter, the dispositor of the Sun, then to its dispositor Venus in Aquarius, which harms the Sun as will be explained below.

If there is a strong favourite (such as Rome), one should always check the reception between the significator of the favourite and the planet (or planets) which receives the Moon's disposition. An affliction is if there is a negative reception - the receiving planet occupies a sign which is the fall (worst of all) or detriment (worse) of the significator or, vice versa, the significator occupies a sign which is the fall or detriment of the planet receiving the disposition. The worse, if the negative reception is mutual. Moreover, the significator is harmed by the Moon?s application to a planet which occupies the 8th sign from the significator. There were several indications referred to above (the Moon ruling the day and hour in the fall of the Sun, the Moon?s application to Venus, her dispositor and the dispositor of POF, in Aquarius, the detriment of the Sun), but they were not sufficient considering Saturn?s own weakness failing to benefit from the affliction of the Sun.

I also forgot to check whether the significator gains, losses or remains neutral if there is a change of signs. It helps sort out whether to expect a win, loss or draw. Here, in my opinion, the Sun gained by having been ceased to be in aversion to the rising sign.

It should be observed that both significators (Sun and Saturn) were in prolific signs. The game ended 3:2.

As regards the Luton ? Woking game, the considerations above proved to be valid. Unlike the Rome ? Udinese game where Saturn was relatively far from the angle (technically in aversion), in the chart Mars (Woking?s significator and the dispositor of POF, which is a good fortification) was relatively close to ASC, in a stake of Jupiter who received the Moon?s application first, before Venus, her dispositor. As regards the Sun (Luton, orange shirts), he was afflicted the same way but the condition of Mars made the difference.

Preston ? Sheffield. It was a surprise that the game ended 0:0 considering that the Moon had 2 very strong applications to Jupiter and Venus. The game should have ended 1:1 or 2:0. In my opinion, the draw should be attributed to Mercury (a double - natured inferior planet) ruling over the hour and the triplicity of the rising sign, itself being in the same triplicity. Mercury when ruling a relevant hour, quite often than other planets happening to rule the hour, produces draws. Draws usually happen if there are some strong conflicting, mutually excluding testimonies, like it was in Preston ? Sheffield: the angular Moon?s application to Jupiter and Venus, her dispositor, for Preston, and the partile opposition of Mars (Sheffield?s significator) to POF for Sheffield.

There were several other games in other leagues which were played at the hour of Mercury. In the Netherlands League 2, Jong PSV played draw with Willem II (both significators - Mars (Jong PSV) and Mercury (Willem II) ? in the same triplicity); Jong Twente won Eindhoven. Although both significators (Mars ? Jong Twente, Mercury ? Eindhoven) were in the same triplicity, the game did not end draw because of Mars? opposition to POF, which was not the case in Jong PSV ? Willem II.

In Bundesliga 2, Kaiserslautern (Mars) played draw with Koln (Moon). The game was also played at the hour of Mercury with the Moon and Mars being in the same sign. The game ended 0:0.

If somebody would like to have the tables I have prepared for most of the European leagues, just let me know and I will forward them. Currently, I am convinced that the correct approach is to find a significator for each team which does not change depending on rising signs. I mainly use colours but have noticed that in some cases significators fit better if we use astrological connotations of their nicknames or the rulers of cities they represent (if I have).
