No steroids no drugs. Rarely drank alcohol. Career as a professional athlete ended long before the steroid era. Neptune notwithstanding, drugs have nothing to do with this story.

51
I hope no one seriously took my Neptune remark personally. I mentioned it for the simple reason that Neptune is somewhat prominent in this chart and Neptune and drugs go hand in hand. My purpose was guidance not criticism. I hadn't looked at the outer planets at all in this chart. I have no idea what role, if any, that any of the three outers played in this man's life. I leave the outer planets to others.

We see that both Mars and Mercury are in the terms (Egyptian) of Venus and triplicity as well. If we borrow the planet in another's domicile definitions from Abu Ali and Masha 'allah we find a joker who is highly sexed, playful and impudent so that is why women found him attractive
MJ

ps - I belatedly checked Jupiter and Mars as SoM and find nothing to contradict there but also I see a possibility of wounding with words as alluded to by Tom earlier

A recent biographer used these words to describe the native: "He spent his whole life trying to bend the world to his will."

Doesn't Mars represent the will? In his own world, he largely succeeded in that endeavor.

I've been AWOL here because I've been busy with work and my computer is acting up. I'm going to work with the computer today and hope I don't have to buy a new one.

Sorry I picked a bad time. I am trying to avoid repeating what Iris has already established as I have the same books as her in the main. You did ask about why women were attracted to him so that was my answer

Mars

Over here it is a public holiday for May Day. Once I have finished dancing round the maypole and setting fire to the Wicker Man I should look at his temperament. If it comes out as phlegmatic I will throw in the towel.

Temperament

I have assessed the temperament following the schema of John Frawley in The Real Astrology Applied and what do I find? Phlegmatic! The stars do not lie so my assumption was wrong. It is tempered by dryness and some heat so phlegm over choler. Selecting from Greenbaum. Tall of stature but not too big and not so fat as phlegmatic. Hairy with straight chestnut hair. Nimble bold kind merry and quick-witted.
The aggression of Mars is tempered by sanguine Jupiter so this explains the contradiction of the native who is concerned with his own ends but still has a good side to him and can care and be kind to others.

This is the chart of an American male - famous, but probably not famous outside the US. I left the outer planets in, but since there is no monetary prize for guessing the name, cheating helps no one. But please don't try to guess who it is. The challenge is for the delineation, not naming the native.

Don't try to guess who it is. Okay, and I won't think about an elephant, either. Naturally, the first thing I looked at was Neptune's longitude, and almost immediately thought, Johnny Carson, Scorpio Rising, only famous in USA. But no, Johnny was a Scorpio Sun, too. This slowed my unruly brain down to the point I was able to recognize this nativity had certain similarities to my own: Same Ascendant within a degree, same Sun and Mercury, by sign and house, with Mercury retrograde. Both Mars in Scorpio. Enough similarities for us to hate each other on sight, and if I had sufficient self knowledge I could give you his history off the top of my head. But, flushed with shame, I'll have to stick to the symbolism.
Famous athlete or famous warrior? Mars in Scorpio bestows an occasionally useful relentless quality often referred to as "doesn't know when to quit." Coupled with a hard bodied fixed Ascendant, the basic ingredients for a career in organized murder or competitive sports are present. But to stand out from one's peers to the point of becoming famous? TO BE CONTINUED

Athlete or soldier?
For those I'll refer to as the Neptune in Leo generation, coming of age in a period of financial destitution between two horribly destructive world wars (now frequently referred to as the good old days), roads to fame were few and unpaved. Movies? Lottery odds. Military? A dead end even for West Pointers, obscurity a certainty (drastic change looming, but who knew?). Athletes? Heavyweight boxers and Major League baseball players. Hard to imagine in this century, but that was pretty much it.
The mystery chart has Mars at 8 Scorpio, thirteen degrees from an Ascendant likely based on dirty data. Traditionally, Mars on the Ascendant is said to produce warriors, on the mid haven athletes. It worked out pretty well for me after OJ Simpsons arrest for murder. I had no trouble getting his birth date, but no luck with the birth time. A look at the planetary pattern in my ephemeris showed Mars in Gemini, has to be angular, I thought, and set up the chart for the time Mars was on mid haven in San Francisco, told my girlfriend, and found out months later was twenty minutes before the official time.
Our 8 Scorpio Mars was conjunct the Ascendant about an hour earlier, but more than four hours from the mid haven, so I'll have to lean toward him being a military man, an officer (at least a major, no higher than Brigadier General}. Of course, many top baseball stars went off to war, so many it spawned the birth of the first and only women's professional baseball league, so our mystery man could easily be both. I he was a ballplayer first, I know who, but won't say, content to gloat in private and exercise my arms patting myself on the back. If a soldier first, beats me.

Assigning generations to outer planets and looking at Neptune first is what modern astrologers do. This is the traditional Forum. That doesn't belong here. Please read the guidelines.

That our subject is or was a professional athlete was mentioned on May 2. The birth data is rated either A or AA - definitely not dirty data.

@Mjacob

I get melancholic phlegmatic. The ASC and the phase of the Moon are phlegmatic. Lord ASC is occidental so dry in a cold moist sign. LoG is Mercury occidental, so dry in a cold dry sign. The Sun is in Virgo so melancholic. Janus software gave a more balanced temperament. I didn't work it out any other way.

I can't do more right now because my computer is not cooperating and I'm on a business trip. I'll wrap this up on Friday when I return.
