I took a quick look at the chart, and that Mars in the 1st, as significator of Australia, although essentially debilitated, seems to have benefited a lot by being in the Asc. By comparison, the game between Portugal and Germany, for which I've posted the chart previously, had a similar configuration, but with Mars [Portugal] in the 12th (Venus [Germany] was in the 8th). And the result for that game was a defeat by 0-4 to Portugal. This may be indicative that the difference from a planet in the 12th for the same planet in the Asc is very high, "footballistically" speaking.. Quote Wed Jun 18, 2014 6:09 pm
87 by GB I agree, the Mars must have been considerable strengthened. It should have been an easy victory for the Netherlands according to the odds. The result reinforces the idea that accidental dignity is more important in this context than essential dignity. It will be interesting to see if we get another clear example like this. Personally, in my analysis so far I have been underestimating somewhat the accidental dignities in detriment of the essential dignities. Maybe we could say that the difference in Essential Dignities can be towards the perception that people have of the different teams (somehow related to the odds?!) and the accidental dignities is closer to the "efficiency" of the teams in the match. However, both factors (and others) must be considered.. It is an hypothesis worth considering, and it fits both games that I've seen their charts.. Quote Wed Jun 18, 2014 6:43 pm
89 by john I thought I should review my attempts for the initial matches for each of teams and at best the predictions were average. On the positive, the first draw and first upset were predicted. I placed small bets on all games, with doubles for each of the groups. With only average results I came out with a reasonable profit. This shows to me that there is no connection between astrological predictions and betting; either that or the standards set for astrology are that much higher than for returning a profit with the bookies. I now have the chance to look at the charts again. The themes that stand out are the besiegement of the Moon and the Moon transiting between a malefic and a benefic in rulership. If the interest is there, I?ll join in for the second round games. If I?m not a glutton for punishment the Premier League fixtures have also come out today! If I may adapt a phrase by the comedian Eric Morecambe:- I made all the right predictions ? not necessarily in the right order Quote Wed Jun 18, 2014 6:56 pm

Hi John, I do not understand exactly what you are saying in the quotation, but, theoretically, one can make random bets and still do a profit. An example, suppose that the chances of winning/losing/draw are all equal (33%). This means that if you always chose one team as winner, you have a probability of 1/3 of winning a bet and 2/3 of losing the bet. If you bet on a lot of games, you may arrive at a average winning of 1/3. I.e, you win some and lose more. But, if the odds you choose are always less or equal to 2.0, your net result will be less than zero. For instance, you start with 3? and you bet 1? on the 1st game and lose, you bet another 1? on the 2nd and lose, and the third game you bet 1? and win another 1?, so you have a total of 2? (lost 1?). However, if your odds are, for instance, an average of 3.0, you lose 2? on the first two games but on the "third" time you win 3? which will make you a total of 3?. If the odds are in average > 3, you have a great probability of doing a profit.. However, it is known that the favorite wins about 55% of the time. In this case, if you bet consistently on the favorite always with odds > 2.0, there is an high probability that you may make a profit.. Now, is that anyhow related to astrology? I don't think so.. It's just math, probabilities and a bit of luck.. The interest of "speculating" on soccer winner using astrology, in my specific case, is to come out with a prediction about the end result but also regarding some details of the match. The bet is just an incentive for deciding an outcome and stick with it. It is a reward when you hit, and a punishment when you miss.. In the end, what matters is the astrology.. That is very interesting indeed! Thanks. I confess medieval and renaissance French astrology is a bit of a blank for me excluding a few well known figues like Pierre d'Ailly, Nostradamus and Claude Dariot. I am grateful for these references. I am actually examining this whole topic from ancient through to modern astrology as a long term research project. If you dont mind I will send you a PM on this to discuss this a bit further. 94 by GB Mark, This is a thread to discuss the World Cup football, not to discuss possible national charts. Please take this discussion to the Mundane forum, it is off-topic here. Thanks. Quote Thu Jun 19, 2014 9:54 am
95 by Deb To clarify, although national charts are important considerations for national games, if it is the national chart itself that warrants attention then it is best to develop that discussion in the mundane section, so that only a link needs to be made to it here. The chart is radical by triplicity and exaltation. The clue here is the Moon?s (L 10 and dispositor of POF) application by square to the Sun. This is a fair startingpoint, but both luminaries are cadent and in mutable signs. The Lord of the hour rules the 4th house, and the Sun rules the 12th. I'll sit down and watch. :-) Last edited by Andrew Bevan on Thu Jun 19, 2014 1:47 pm, edited 1 time in total. http://www.astronor.com Quote Thu Jun 19, 2014 1:26 pm
