thanks for the additional overview matthew and mark..

mark, thanks for peter s's article and the other ones too.. i note the comment section addressed my question with regard to peter s's article.. it is a mixed bag getting the lord of the year - it seems to me.. i read over some of the ramasey book, but not all of it.. i have the bonati book on this and the other book quoted too - both ben dyke translations.. i will with hold judgement on this for the time being, but it is interesting how peter s gets to what he does via the aries ingress.

i obviously don't understand the uk election system. if it is a choice between cameron and milibrand only - cameron has the better astro set up going into the may 7th election.. if the other charts count for anything, a few of the others have better astro going for them as i see it..

here are some quotes i liked off birchfields pdf found here - http://www.skyscript.co.uk/pdf/Ramesey_Birchfield.pdf

"Ramesey lived along side other astrologers such as William Lilly, but by all appearances in his autobiography, Lilly never mentions William Ramesey as being a known astrologer.
This is perhaps something that should be understood about this work. It is not based on Ramesey?s personal experience from practice of it!"

page 64 of the pdf would seem relevant to the aries ingress peter s talks about in his article.. i can't find the other quote which i had read earlier, so others will have to read over the pdf if interested in gaining more insight into mundane astrology..

Well it is a bit of both really. The UK is a parliamentary not a Presidential system like the USA. The parties elect their leaders. But on the other hand there are only two people here who could realistically head the next government. The others are at best hoping to be aligned to one or other of the two main parties. As the line goes in the movie Highlander ''there can only be one". So we are not examining numerous candidates for the office of Prime Minister. In that respect the natal charts of the leaders of the two main parties are pivotal and the others are peripheral. Alternatively, approaches that weigh up the fortunes of the parties are also indicative of the outcome.

Still, it is interesting to look at the fortunes of some of the other leaders too. For example Nigel Farage might do well and get several MPS which would be a positive step forward for UKIP. At the same time he might have zero political influence in forming the next government. Equally, even without astrology we know Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP are having a great year. She was elected party leader last December and her party are trouncing Labour in the polls. The party is likely to exceed all historical precedents with possibly as many as 50+ seats at Westminster. So the astrology will show a great time for Sturgeon whether or not she has influence over the next government.

In contrast for Cameron and Miliband their political careers are on the line depending on the outcome of this election. I suppose this is true of Farage and Clegg too as neither are guaranteed to win the seats they are contesting.

It should be said that simply being the largest party may not be enough to survive as a government. Any new government/coalition would need to get a Queens Speech through Parliament.

Hi Matthew,

Yes. The coalition brought in fixed 5 year parliaments under the Fixed Term Parliaments Act (2011).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fixed-term ... s_Act_2011

But as you point out the government can still fall and a new General election be called before the 5 years are up. There appear to be two ways this can be done.

From Wikipedia:
Section 2 of the Act also provides for two ways in which a general election can be held before the end of this five-year period:

1. If the House of Commons resolves "That this House has no confidence in Her Majesty's Government", an early general election is held, unless the House of Commons subsequently resolves "That this House has confidence in Her Majesty's Government". This second resolution must be made within fourteen days of the first.

2. If the House of Commons, with the support of two-thirds of its total membership (including vacant seats), resolves "That there shall be an early parliamentary general election".

In either of these two cases, the monarch (on the recommendation of the prime minister) appoints the date of the new election by proclamation. Parliament is then dissolved 25 working days before that date.
As you suggest we can assess the longlevity of any new administration by drawing a chart up for when Cameron or Miliband go to Buckingham Palace to formally take over the office of PM.

Earlier in the thread James asked if anyone had been looking at the party charts?

Actually, I have. I am going to be rather busy over the next few days. However, when I come back on the forum early next week I will be posting on all the party charts.

Most importantly, I will be unveiling the first timed chart for the Labour party ever to to be displayed to the astrological community. Something you will not find in Nicholas Campion's book or anywhere else to my knowledge.

This follows some research I have done into the Labour party archives.

nodal axis in transit viewpoint..

i have been thinking about the nodes a lot lately.. the nodal axis is on my sun at 9 aries at present. i was thinking that i could consider the 5 or 6 charts mark had shared in light of the transiting nodal axis for the may 7th election in the uk..

the north node is at approx 8 libra at the time of the election.. without going into too much detail this would seem to favour cameron the most, followed by clegg if his birth time is close to accurate.. with cameron venus at 7 libra and with clegg midheaven is at 8 libra for the 5:30am birth time. with cameron if libra rising as the time provided gives - we have the ruler of the ascendant in focus thanks the north node..

milibrand and sturgeon both have uranus in libra - mili at 8 and sturgeon at 5 libra. milibrand it is north node in the 6th area, while sturgeon it is 12th or 11th depending on your house choice.. my impression is it is more unsettling or milibrand here given the closeness of the north node on uranus..

milibrand, clegg and robinson are all sun in cap with a slight focus of more planets in cap.. the nodal axis in libra/aries would seem to be less helpful for them.. perhaps somewhat similar for sturgeon with sun in late cancer, but she also has jupiter in late libra too..

on the basis of nodal axis data - cameron still comes out most favoured.. clegg less so, even if north node transits the 10th house area - those cap planets aren't synced up right..

finally, regarding farage - it would seem to take away some of the positive spin i have given farage earlier.. the nodal aixs highlights the wide sun/mars conjunction in his chart.. perhaps farage is seen temporarily as too forceful and strident when the need for more diplomacy is what the public wants.. of course cameron captures the public spirit if the north node is all it is cracked up to be and is given a free karma free ride here by the nodes, lol.. all conjecture on my part, but i thought i would share it publicly..

one additional comment -
cameron - north node - taurus
milbrand - nn - pisces
clegg - nn - taurus
farage - nn cancer
sturgeon - pisces
robinson - nn - taurus
none of them have a great fit with the transiting nodal axis in libra/aries on this level.
james_m wrote: basic overview on my collected posts here so far - i have done 4 candidates - farage has the best set up followed by cameron.. milibrand and clegg are somewhere noticeably below that.. i will get to the others in the next few days.

Sorry for not posting those party charts before now. As John Lennon said 'Life is what happens while you are making plans''.

I guess most voters and astrologers have probably made their minds up on this election already but from a point of completeness I feel this is unfinished business.

So first the Labour party. I want to show two charts for Labour.

First the chart for its foundation in 1900. To be more specific the first meeting of the Labour Representation Committee which was formed by Trade Unionists coming to together to work for the election of Members of Parliament representing the Trade Unions and working classes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labour_Par ... _Committee

This chart is untimed so I have set it for noon. Although I have a hunch the meeting commenced earlier in the morning so we probably have a Taurus rising chart.

While one might question how relevant a particular square or opposition is the pile up of these here seems very unfavourable looking to me. If as I suspect Venus is the ASC ruler Pluto's square to the radix Venus looks quite traumatic. Neptune close to the Labour party Sun also looks like something of a wipe out or political dissolution of some sort. All in all a very tough set of aspects!

However, I have researched another chart for the Labour party which I also think is radical. This is for the first meeting of the Parliamentary Labour party in the house of Commons on the 12th of February 1906.
In his book of World Horoscopes Nicholas Campion gives an untimed noon time for this chart.

However, I have researched this topic and have unearthed a time of this first meeting from the minutes of the Parliamentary Labour Party (PLP) from the Labour Party archives. The minutes clearly show the meeting began at 3:00pm in the House of Commons, in London.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parliamentary_Labour_Party

Your obviously welcome you use this chart. But if you are referencing it anywhere I would ask as a courtesy accreditation as your source ie ''Source: Mark Cullen from the Labour Party Minutes''

Its a fascinating chart with a powerful Grand Cross involving a Moon-Mars opposition and a Uranus-Neptune opposition. The MC ruler Mars is strongly placed in Aries and falls in the whole sign 9th house. However, it is out of sect and in its less favorable waning solar phase to the Sun. The Moon-Mars opposition perhaps reflects the radical socialist ideas that infused the party's early history and allowed it to replace the Liberal party as the main political opposition. The compassionate, socially inclusive Neptune opposes a radical, socially disruptive Uranus. Labour has historically stood for the working classes or socially excluded in comparison to the Conservative party which tends be more socially and economically conservative and less focused on income distribution to the socially disadvantaged.

Profections (whole sign)-Annual and monthly
2015 is a 3rd house profectional year for the Parliamentary Labour party.
The profectional sign on the ASC for 2015 is Virgo.
Mercury is therefore the Lord of Year for 2015. Traditionally, the Lord of the year is significant in the Solar return chart. It also has special significance in transits.
Virgo rules the second house in the radix PLP chart.
The monthly profectional sub-period of the election is Scorpio which is the 3rd sign from the profectional annual sign. So as a profectional sub-lord Mars has significance for the election month.

As I have noted above neither Mercury or Mars are well configured to the radix 1906 chart in the close of poll transits.

Solar Return chart (2015)
Image
A Scorpio rising chart with a Moon in Scorpio (in its sign of fall). A positive could be this shows the public coming to the Labour party. But that is countered by the fact the Moon is debilitated in Scorpio. Also Scorpio is the 4th house in the radix chart. Angular to be sure but not a house associated with great success , or luck like the 1st, 10th, 5th or 11th. Still, the Moon does trine Mars. Mars also trines the ASC.

Personally, though I think solar return charts are better assesed in comparison to the radix chart. So below I have displayed both charts in a bi-wheel:

Solar Return with radix chart (2015)
Image
Mercury (LOY) is on the 7th house cusp-opposing the radix ASC
SR ASC opp radix Jupiter
SR Moon opp radix Jupiter
SR Jupiter opp radix Mercury
SR Saturn Square radix Saturn
SR Venus square radix Pluto
SR Neptune trine radix Neptune

If it wasn't obvious already I think the transits, solar arcs, and solar return chart indicate for me that Labour is facing a likely defeat considering the cluster of difficult aspects here.

good overview on labour party astro.. i like the symbolism off the chart you have for 3pm feb 12 1906. i liked your comment here off the 1900 chart as i was thinking of something like that when i saw it too-

regarding the 1906 chart, was there something major that happened with labour in the past few years given the transits of saturn, uranus and pluto through 5-7 degree cardinal and 22-23 degree fixed? it would seem to me that would imply some major shake up or change inside the party 2011 area in particular..

are you going to do this for the other parties? that's a lot of work! thanks either way..

I haven't tracked all this much transit wise to be honest. However, following the 2010 General election and the resignation of Gordon Brown there was a rather divisive Labour leadership battle. The front runner had been David Miliband (the brother of Ed Miliband). Ed Milliband came from effectively nowhere to win the leadership. Labour has an incredibly complex leadership election process. It is a tripartite electoral college between Labour party members, Trade Unions and the Labour MPs and MEPs. A slight majority of MPS voted for David Miliband than Ed Miliband. David Miliband also got a larger share of Labour party member votes. However, Ed Miliband had the decisive supprt of more trade unions. He is slightly to the left of his Blairite brother was was titled by the ring wing press at the time 'Red Ed'. Nothing publicly was said in public but David Miliband was obviously furious at being beat by his younger brother. Talk about sibling rivalry! There was also disquiet in the parliamentary party that Ed Miliband had effectively won due to more Trade Union support. Miliband became leader in September 2010.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labour_Par ... tion,_2010

Since then Ed Miliband has struggled to connect with the voters and has often been presented as a 'geek' and detched from the common man. The Conservatives actually thought the personality of Miliband would be a serious political liability in the general election they could exploit. However, while he is not as popular as Cameron personally Miliband has performed far better on TV debates than the Conservatives anticipated.

Looking at 2011 specifically there was a a big set back for Labour in Scotland as they experienced an effective wipe out by the SNP in the Scottish government elections.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_P ... tion,_2011

This election marked a historic shift with Labour finally replaced as the dominant party in Scotland. The 2007 Scottish Parliament election had been almost a dead heat between the parties but 2011 marked the point the SNP decisively overtook Labour in Scotland. Many thought such a result could not be repeated in a UK general election since historically Scottish voters have voted differently UK elections to Scottish Parliament ones. Also the first past the post /simple plurality system had always worked to Labours advantage in the past.

Ironically though despite losing the independence referendum the SNP has emerged stronger than ever. Their membership was around 25,000 before the referendum but has increased 300% since the referendum to over 100,000 making them the third largest party in the UK after Labour and the Conservatives. Quite incredible considering the party only operates in Scotland. The SNP now have more members in Scotland than the entire UK wide membership of the Liberal Democrats, UKIP, and The Greens combined.

So the seeds of Labour's likely wipe out in Scotland this week can be traced back to 2011. Labour look like losing seats they have held continuously since before WWII.

Yes. But I only have untimed charts for the other parties. Although I do have a rectified chart for the SNP I used in my article last year based on key events in the party history and the nativities of significant figures.

I will probably, only have time to put up the charts before Thursday. I will leave others to put up their analysis if they are interested.

thanks for this overview mark.. as an outsider to uk politics, it is hard to fully understand the dynamics.

using the 1906 chart, i note transit of saturn to the degree of the moon sept 15 2010, which coincides with some of this.. i suppose if one wants to use a solar return chart, the one for 2010 with saturn in early libra square pluto in cap - on the angles would seem to define some of the divisiveness that was brewing inside the party, over the gemini moon setting in the 2011 sr chart.. the profection lord mars for 2010 is a better fit as well.. usually major events or changes in anything develop over the course of time, and perhaps this is ultimately why the 1906 chart seems to catch the major changes that are now on open display for all to see both inside and outside the uk labour party..

Using 19 events I rectified David Cameron's chart to 6.09.48 BST Asc 3Lib17'.
His solar returns are fantastic!
In the Solar return, Jupiter right on IC trine Mars on Desc (victory after struggle), in harmonies aspects to Sun, Moon and Uranus.
The same in the solar return, precession corrected, but here Mars rising. Mercury 180 Mon on MC/IC axis.
In the converse solar return Jupiter right on Desc, trine MC.
In the converse solar return, precession corrected, Jupiter exactly on Asc square Sun.
These charts clearly show a victory.
In primary directions in Topocentric:
III 0 Sun 1'
Uranus 60 Sun 4'
MC 120 Pluto 0'

With 12 events I rectified Ed Miliband's chart to 14.07.20 CET Asc 12Tau33'.
In his solar return, precession corrected, Mercury conjunct Pluto in 3rd square Uranus- failure. Moon is conjunct Mars in 4th.
In the converse solar return, precession corrected, Sun conjunct Jupiter, by itself a promising indication for victory but here they are 90 Mars which is on Desc. Pluto in 10th 180 Mercury.
In primary directions: MC 90 Mars 0'
In Secondary directions: Moon 120 Mars 13'

Conclusion: Ed Miliband will be defeated. Victory for David Cameron.

Thanks Isaac,

Yes. I dont think I have ever witnessed such a consensus in the astrological community on an election. Numerous techniques both traditional and modern seem to be pointing in that direction.

Having said that I think we may be in for some major wrangling over the constitutional ''legitimacy'' of any government led by Cameron.
