For Sunday, Venus on the MC of the race chart is going to be key. As well as being so strongly positioned, it also rules the Hour. I have noticed that aspects to the horse's chart from the race Lord/Lady of the hour are strong indicators of the winner. In addition (and this is a bit strange) aspects from the race chart to the planet in the horse chart that rules the race hour are also very strong.

So, if Mars rules the hour for the race, then aspects to Mars in the horse's chart are important. It is as if the race hour ruler sensitises the same planet in the horse's chart. (Hope that makes sense.)

In Mr. Corinelius' book, (can i call him Geoff after we had a couple beers together in Hempstead, many Moons ago?, we must be pals!) The Moment of Astrology, he mentions the 'correct' reading from a 'wrong' horoscope. My first post (edited-OK under the influence at time of writing), suggested Saturn - named GG's - i hadn't updated my IO softwere to GMT (been away in Cornwall looking for a house for a few weeks).

I think a philosophical debate on what is known as 'sports astrology' is probably needed - we all know to works, because of the various examples so obviously demonstrated on this site. I would prefer a members only tread though.

1000 Guineas

The first aspect from the 5th cusp is a semi sextile to the antiscia of the Moon at 23?Aqu23', which squares Mars, the next aspect from the 5th via trine. I do fancy Redstart, it's a horse that i've been following and she did win a couple of weeks ago at Newbury when Mars was angular.

Another one that i like is Terror. Interesting to see it backed into 20/1 from 33's. In Greek mythology, Ares and Aphrodite had twin boys Deimos and Phobos - fear and terror. Interestingly, that's also the names of Mars' two moons. al-Biruni attributes terror to the 6th house, where we find the Moon's antiscia. Turning the chart from the 8th - where both Partidge and Lilly assign fear - Mars' house, we come to the 12th, the name of Mars' sons. You can also find the name of the horse in the 12th, because a horse is bigger than a goat. Turning the chart from the 10th - Aphrodite's house, we come to the 2nd (5th from the 10th) and we have the Scorpio Moon in there.

There's my two naps - Redstart and Terror.

Today's race is a difficult one because a surprising number of the horses running have benefic planets in conjunction with the sensitive points of the race event chart. Besides Redstart's good connections, Irish Rookie, Local Time, Malabar and Osaila all have their natal Jupiter in conjunction with the Sun on the 9th cusp, with Local Time and Irish Rookie having natal Jupiter/Venus conjunctions picked out by today's Sun (Irish Rookie's is closer.) So there are five horses that have good chart connections to suggest they will do well. That's not a helpful situation for me - yesterday I was able to whittle through the non-descript charts very quickly, leaving only three that stood out clearly from the rest.

In addition, Qualify and Legatissimo have the same date of birth (22 Apr 2012), which makes things difficult.

This is one of those races that should probably be left alone. There are too many horses with good links to the race chart. That said, I am staying with Local Time.

Legatissimo - I didn't print the chart for that, so obviously it didn't strike me as being a good chart. I'm travelling and don't have software on this machine. but it will be interesting to take a look tomorrow to see if there was something important I missed.

Hope to be able to post a bi-wheel tomorrow for a hindsight review.

Interesting to note that yesterday's winner of the 2000gns is owned by the same group (three person syndicate) that own today's winner of the 1000gns. Winning the first two classics of the season should show in the owners' charts.

All very close. Need to pay more attention to the race PoF.

That was all a little bit rubbish, still had two winners today at Newmarket

Astronereus in the 13:50 - 'Nereus' was a sea God - Neptune on 7th cusp and,
Bragging in the 14:25 - 5th quincunx Mercury, again angular.

My final bet of the day is Academy House in the 16:15 - 5th trine Mercury L9 opposite Saturn L4. - 3rd, not bad for a 16/1 shot, i suppose.

Redstart is a front-running horse that likes to dictate the pace.
And that is the way she was ridden in yesterday's race.
But never having run over 1 mile there was a question about whether she would get the trip.
That question is prominent (in hindsight) in both the charts of the race and the horse: Saturn in opposition to Mercury.
if she had been held up in the riding, she may well have found the turn of foot at the finish. Yesterday this was not the case.

The winner of the race shared her birthday with two others and one of which came last, so I don't think there is much to be gained by looking there.
Redstart had the best natal fit with the race, but unfortunately too good in terms of the Saturn-Mercury opposition.

I think I would still have taken Redstart as the horse in this race, but hoped she was ridden to restrain her from expending her energy at the front of the field and early in the race.
