Astrological Speculation Group 1 by Element Hi, I?m new to this forum and hope to find some like-minded souls for interesting discussions about astrology. I have sought a UK astrology forum for one main purpose - to ask any other astrologers that may be interested to join in a special project which I?d like to describe here: About a dozen years ago I came across a dusty booklet published by the AFA or CRCS in the USA about astrology used for speculation ? namely gambling and betting. It described a research project in 1974-5 done by 10 astrologers that studied the application of astrological timing to the buying of tickets, placing bets etc. Most of it was about horse racing but there were some other things too. I can?t remember whether there was anything about Lotteries ? but the principles should be equally applicable. The principles gleaned from their results are something I tried myself and had interesting success? I started a lottery syndicate in a workplace with 9 other colleagues; each would contribute a pound a week and I would buy the tickets. I chose the moment of when we signed our ?lottery syndicate contract? very carefully ? and it was on a nightshift at about 05.20am. It was an agreement that we all would choose six numbers each and these would be used throughout the period, I would buy the tickets with the ?10 each week. The others did not all know that I was deciding exactly when to buy the tickets using astrology; but they didn?t care when we won four times in a row? We had 3 x ?10 wins and an ?80 win too. However then after 4 wins, one of our syndicate members left the company and thus left our little syndicate with nine people. The contract had listed 10 names? We never won again and gave up after a few months. I liken this to an orange; take one segment away and it is no longer a whole orange ? our birth chart became redundant the moment that chap left. If we had included a clause intitially that would allow change, this may not have ended so abruptly. I struggled on alone with limited success, but always wanted to go further with the project ? not just because it would be nice to win some money ? but also for the fascination about influencing reality by careful and specific actions. I soon realized that the only real way to get ?the system? to work - was to group some astrologers together and do it properly with lots of charts (just like the 70?s group had done). Ideally, each astrologer would have some years of experience behind them and could ? at a glance - see a chart that would be worth attention for the project and discard those that weren?t likely to win? Each of us would most likely have in our possession, a number of charts (friends, relatives, clients etc) and each could ?apply the principles? to those charts (and thus ? with those people). If those people were interested, ideally if they were already donning their ?1 / ?2 every week to Camelot then they could be given times of when to buy their tickets. Any winnings may be resolved with an agreement between that astrologer and his or her ?subject?? because it is the owner of the chart that is used that HAS to buy their ticket; this can not be done by proxy. I could do it for the syndicate because one of the agreed clauses of our contract was that I would buy the tickets? So ? what I am actually suggesting here is this: If there is a group of you here that are interested, I will post the principles to apply to charts - to calculate the best time for speculation. These ?principles? are not what you would at first expect; it goes off traditional astrology with a tangent; you?d be surprised. All that I ask in return is that those involved that engage with the project ? publish their experiences, good and bad, here on this forum (if the Site managers are happy with the idea as a topic) so that we can all benefit through reading what each of us experiences. That was the way in which that 70?s group functioned, sharing their information, they all then could further understand and deepen their knowledge on the process. If you or someone you know wins some money ? then great ? good for you /or/ them, enjoy your winnings! The disclaimer: THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES AND THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY OF WINNING ANY MONEY? but we can try. In a week?s time, I?ll return to see what you all think of the idea and if it looks promising then I?ll write more details and we can begin the game. Kind regards Element. Reality is the result of all of our past thoughts... take care in what you think. Quote Thu Mar 09, 2006 6:23 pm
2 by Lainie Any type of speculation is a VERY personal issue, because the 5th house in the chart of each of us represents the potentials of being lucky in gambling of any type (except real estate, which also entails the 4th, and mutual funds, which includes aspects and planets to or from the 8th and 11th.) By the time most of us are adults, we are pretty much aware of whether we are lucky or not. I know I am not - I didn't know why this was true until I became an astrologer. SO....the point is, it's not the "system" or anything that matters, it's the "potential" for winning that is the issue. Another thing that matters is transits. As for your group, it's possible that after your initial wins transits occurred that were unfavorable either individually (5th houses) or groups (11th house) in the charts of several of the participants. Just my thoughts on the subject. Lainie Lainie Quote Fri Mar 10, 2006 5:51 pm
3 by Deb I did wonder whether the chap who left your group was the one with ?lucky configurations? in his birth chart. It sounds like a very interesting idea ? if I had more time I would probably sign up just for the fun of it. But I somehow think you will struggle to find interested members with experience who also have the time available to not only do this, but to also report their experiences on here. I hope I?m wrong because this could be interesting to follow ? but you might be better to suggest that anyone with inclinations to know more should contact you privately (at least initially) so that you can have informal discussions by email regarding the best way to set yourselves up ? and then possibly with the intention of reporting your results here every now and again. Anyway I wish you well. I shall feel sick with jealousy if you hit the jackpot. Quote Sat Mar 11, 2006 10:49 am
4 by Milada Hi Element I am willing to participate, primarily for research purposes, fun of it, and if some winnings come along, great Natally I have Aquarius Moon in the 5th trine its ruler Uranus in 1st house (in fact at 1/2. as it's 5' to 2nd house cusp). Uranus is conj. Spica. Moon and Uranus also both trine MC (Grand air trine, and out of aspect trine Saturn close to MC). Also Mars 10. (conj Sirius) trine Jupiter 6. in Pisces. This may be a good time for me join as my Solar Return Uranus will be conj. my SR ASC in May, aligned with the "lucky" configuration this May of Uranus/Jupiter/Mars grand trine. Transit Uranus (also SR) will be conj. my natal Jupiter both right on my SR ASC, trine 8th house SR Jupiter, both trine SR Mars conj Nat Mars. in the 5th of the SR chart. PR Mercury conj nat Mars is also trine my natal Jupiter for the next few years. Also, PR Jupiter will be in the PR 5th house for the next 15 years My progressed Uranus is also conj progressed ASC (minutes away from Spica position), both trined by 9th house progressed Sun in Gemini. I have been reasonably lucky in games of luck, although I can't say that I have played often enough, maybe every few months or so. In the employee committee that I organized at my workplace, we organize monthly and quarterly events and luncheons with all kinds of teambuilding activities, primarily for the purpose of employee motivation, and where everybody (of course ) always has a chance of winning "something" (that's probably my Moon/Uranus/MC trine) So I could later on possibly start up a "lottery syndicate" or something like that at work just for the fun of it and see what happens (I have actually thought about this before, but there was always too much to do with my Jupiter in 6th and Saturn/MC that never got to that yet)... So let me know if you start this up on this forum, or privately. May 2006 may be a good time to start it up again My stats: May 14, 1974 at 2:15 pm in Sarajevo, Bosnia. 5 by Element Thank you for your interest. Firstly, I have to point out that speaking for myself, I have ? after 20 years study, found a much of the taught disciplines and traditions of astrology to ?not hold up to scrutiny?. I have therefore tended to shape a careful and even perhaps methodical approach to the use of the subject. I mention this to begin with because it?s inevitable that what you?re yet to read below ? will challenge some basic traditions of the subject ? and I don?t especially wish to enter the debates of ?why say xxx when yyy is the accepted way of things?? So ? suffice to say ? please do take a large pinch of salt when reading and try to have an open mind to the possibilities that could just be right? I am not saying this is how it is under all circumstances ? but I am saying ? this is how the 70?s group found reality to be ? with their (I think year-long) research in specific relation to speculation. I am well aware that many writers and noted figures in the subject do say that speculation is all about the 5th house ? because that is what tradition teaches? That first group found their results more successful with the details below ? and I have to admit, through my own personal experience, I am inclined to agree with their findings. It is true that the basis lies with the natal chart being worked, and some charts will be better than others for this kind of work ? true without a doubt, it would be folly to think otherwise. That said ? there will be a point in virtually any chart that can be used for this system. Granted, some charts will have to go through perhaps long ?dormant? periods and only sparkle every now and then. However ? the whole cause of my posting here ? is because you are most likely ? all equipped and sufficiently experienced to be able to look at the (perhaps) many charts you have in your collections. From these collections ? there is likely to be some which are workable. It doesn?t have to be your own chart ? although it is probably the one you?ll know best of all. If not ? then some folk can take advantage of the approaching Mercury Uranus conjunction on the 26th March to start a little group and get a fixed contract for a syndicate off the ground at your most auspicious moment chosen in advance? So, PLEASE ? irrespective of how much the following data goes against the grain of tradition ? please don?t post issues about it in that respect ? give it a try first ? and if you personally feel it doesn?t work ? then post your findings and not prejudgement. Remember what Isaac Newton said to Halley about astrology ?sir, I have studied it ? you, have not?! Before Newton could arm himself with such a rebuff ? he had to find out for himself? Try not to over-analyse this matter ? and try ?going with it? ? even if just for a while? Mmmm? now after covering the contradiction issues so seriously ? let?s see if their attention is justified: We are ONLY working with Transits to the natal positions. That is, NOT progressions, not solar arcs, not solar or lunar returns or any other method. If you find that you work a system whereby you get results in speculation in which you use any of the latter methods ? then post about your findings, but for the study in hand ? it is all about transits. We are especially looking at Mars, but Mercury too, Jupiter and the slower planets are used ? but ? they need a catalyst to act in manifestation and that is usually Mercury or Mars. The Sun, Moon and Venus are generally speaking, not used at all ? as they don?t seem to have as much ?action? and are best left as a ?last resort catalyst?. You may find different ? but my own experience has taught me this (my trials were initially coloured by reading the primary groups? findings). Sometimes you?ll have a situation whereby you?ll ?see? a potential ? and you?ll try tapping it by watching for a Mercury transit ? but as a ?third layer ? you can also watch for a Lunar transit acting on the same point of the chart? during the influence of the Mercury transit. Just like tuning an ?old style radio ? with the tuner dial and then with the ?fine tune? dial? Now we?ll look at where we are looking in the charts? tradition speaks of the 5th house? well, to be quite honest ? as much as we can use it ? it?s not the first ?port of call? ? as that has to lie with the 2nd house; the house of income ? your income, your money, your possessions ? things that you associate as yours. I have found that the 2nd house cusp itself is a ?hotspot?, closely followed by any natal planets residing in the 2nd house. The best circumstance will find Mercury or Uranus there ? or both ? in a tight conjunction! However ? it is also true that any given planet natal to the 2nd house ? can itself be variable in result because of aspects to it in the natal chart. This is true, but with such an issue ? you have to look at the overall ?feel? of the chart. For this reason, some charts will work with a 2nd house Mercury ? while others will not. Pay little attention to the ?Signs? involved. The 8th house is to be next considered, again ? the same points apply as the 2nd; the cusp (and thus greater accuracy of the birth time itself ? as this leads to accurate cusps). Which house system you use ? is a matter of your own choice. The 7th house can be used, so can the 5th, so far in that order. I have seen the 7th house produce fruit and I am personally working on a chart that has good prospects for the 10th ? but this is a very unique circumstance. What aspects are we looking for? ? here?s the crunch ? not the trines or sextiles at all. We actually will be paying attention to the conjunctions, oppositions and squares only; you can try to work with semi-squares, but I don?t think they?re worth the trouble. It seems ? that charts with natal squares to planets in these houses can be activated when they are ?hit off? by conjunctions, oppositions and squares, particularly by perhaps one of the planets involved in the natal aspects. So ? for example Sun in the 2nd square to Uranus ? look for Uranus acting by opposition to the Sun, and fine tune the transit with a third layer of a passing (at the key time) Mercury. Don?t bother with the Sun itself transiting to the aspect as this won?t bring any effect. Singletons are also worth a go ? I work with one chart that has natal Mercury ?out on a limb? ? and it is worth looking for transits of these three aspects (conjunctions, oppositions and squares) to it. The timing. We all may have programs that calculate when transit aspects might form, but how many of us have a program that will tell you exactly when it will occur (hour, minute and second)? ? Certainly my humble program won?t, it just tells me the date. So then I have use my calculator to define the exact time? Now then, when we work out the time when (for example) Mars conjuncts the 2nd cusp ? there is an ?applying motion? and a waning or decreasing motion. We only want to buy our ticket up until the exact conjunction and not at all after it. If you can get it in and get the transaction complete within say 20 to 30 seconds prior to the actual moment ? then this is best. So if the conjunction forms at 20.52?22?pm ? then you want to have the ticket process complete by 20.52? 00? if possible. You can play with being earlier ? but I personally recommend the deal done as close as possible on the applying side. The numbers? This is an issue for you to decide, in pure logic ? each of the 49 numbers have an equal ?chance? of appearance ? and therefore 1,2,3,4,5,6 is just as likely to come as 1,4,12,23,34,48. Though I don?t think anyone will believe that the prior six numbers will ever come out in that order! Look at it seriously though ? and you?ll have to acknowledge that each number is the same value as any of the other 49? So, in a nutshell, it?s not the numbers that matter much. ? It is the time that the wager, bet, ticket is bought / made ? that is the magic key ? timing of the persons? association to the draw. My wife tells me that you can buy lottery tickets online now? and that could be an interesting development. It may allow the purchase of a ticket at an obscure early hour when you might find it difficult to get to a lottery shop terminal? However, my mind is still whirring and clicking on the time principal ? because ? to use the online buying ? you have to first ?buy? credit. ? Say ?5.00 ? and then you choose your numbers and buy the ticket when you next ?log in?? I still can?t let go of the issue that you have already initiated the action when you buy the credit; because you let go of your money at that moment? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, I am undecided. You will probably find that you?ll have some aspects come along worth a ticket purchase ? only every so often; I find that with my chart there?s only maybe 20 in a year. Now I can?t always make those moments ? but I try. I have done quite well with ?scratch cards? when a lottery terminal was unavailable. At the moment ? I am certainly on the plus side of the line. Good luck to you all and let us know how you get on! Kind regards Element. Reality is the result of all of our past thoughts... take care in what you think. Quote Tue Mar 14, 2006 1:45 pm
6 by amandaW Hi Although I can't coordinate anything with other charts I decided I would have a go at noting times when I bought tickets and comparing the results to my natal chart. But then I realised you emphasised the importance of 2nd house cusp.... but under which house system? And do you remember whether the experiment you read about stuck to a specific house system? In my chart different house systems give up to 23 degrees difference in the 2nd house cusp!! Quote Thu Mar 30, 2006 7:00 pm
7 by Element Hi Amelia, I don't recall which house system they used - but their general principle was to the planets and I only emphasise the 2nd cusp because I've found it proven with personal experience. That said, - it is my own personal belief that it doesn't matter what system you use; go with what 'works' for you. I use Placidus, but others can, with success use Koch - I can't... - and I can't get anywhere with an Equal house system either. Placidus works tried & tested for me, so I stick with it; though it may not work for everyone - to each thier own... Kind regards Element Reality is the result of all of our past thoughts... take care in what you think. Quote Sun Apr 02, 2006 2:55 pm
8 by medusa Count me in, I am definitely interested, if you are still doing this. I have Jupiter on my second house cusp, in a grand trine with Mercury in the fifth house and Midheaven. Apart from that my chart is quite difficult and Saturnish. I was just thinking of playing around with timing these things, and agree that it seems like a process and an instinct more than set in concrete rules. I live in the UK too. 9 by granny_skot greetings, a few clarifications if I may. You said you wanted to work with mainly mars, but I'm not certain in what manner? Are you saying mainly work with Transiting Mars to the natal chart? In my natal chart I dont have planets in either 2 or 8, but do in both 5 and 7, would you still say work with 2nd house first? using the cusp? which incidentally for me, mars rules 2nd house. Jupiter is in my fifth, sun, merc and Venus in 7th, so lots to work with in those. If I use the logic you suggest, then I want to look to mars, either conj, square or opposite natal jupiter, sun, venus or merc? is that correct? Once I'm certain that is what you are saying I may ask for further clarification. Also when I looked up the charts, I see Mercury and Uranus conj on the 2nd of April? that was on www.astro.com Granny Quote Mon Jan 29, 2007 11:38 pm
Re: Astrological Speculation Group 10 by Bymidten The laboratory You can use the popular lottories as a laboratory for research into financial astrology. Even though you don’t win big time, you can actually win plenty of small amounts and then analyze these wins statistically. Examples In EuroJackPot 1 coupon consists of 4 rows, but you can of course buy less rows or more rows than 4 rows. With 1 coupon or 4 rows your chances of winning any amount is 1:5 or 20% with the smallest winning amount being approximately equal to the purchase amount. It means that if you buy only 2 rows or half a ticket and win the smallest win possible, you have doubled your purchase amount, but the chances of winning are only 1:10 or 10%. If you buy 8 rows and win the smallest win possible, you have increased your chances of winning to 1:2.5 or 40%, but the win only represents half the purchase amount. Research description I have made this research experiment: Over 10 years I have collected the election charts for lottery coupons, which either won back the purchase amount or made a surplus to the invested amount. A coupon that wins back the purchase amount counts 1 point. If the win doubles the purchanse amount or more, the coupon counts 2 points. The current collection of election charts for a 10 year period represents 168 points. Observations By analyzing the collection of election charts I have made a lot of observations, including: The ASC should preferably be in an air sign or else in Taurus. Diurnal circle: Mars shall be in a Gauquelin sector. The Gauquelin sectors include the 5th, the 9th and the 12th house plus fractions of other houses. Rulers: With the old rulerships (only the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) the 3rd house ruler should preferably be in the 5th or 6th house. The Moon shall be in a beneficial aspect with the Sun or Jupiter within an orbis of 1 degree. It is important to avoid conjunctions, oppositions and squares between the Moon and the Sun. The Moon’s optimal placement in the zodiac is in Cancer, when the Moon forms its first square to the dwarf planet Eris. It means that when Eris eventually moves into Taurus, the Moon’s optimal placement will be in Leo instead of in Cancer. In addition: Other observations regarding aspects (within an orbis of 1 degree) with Jupiter are surprising: Aspects between Sun and Jupiter do not play any role at all(!) Aspects between Mercury and Jupiter should preferably be beneficial. Aspects between Venus and Jupiter has to be challenging(!) Aspects between Mars and Jupiter has to be challenging(!) Aspects between Venus and Saturn has to be beneficial. Please notice how 3 of the observations regarding aspects with Jupiter go against traditional astrology’s claims. The same is true for the very important role, which Mars plays in the diurnal circle. As for the asteroids, the Sun and the Moon seem to be the most important celestial bodies: Aspects between the Sun and Ceres shall be beneficial. Aspects between the Moon and Vesta shall be beneficial. As for aspects from Venus or Mars to the asteroids only Pallas seems to be important. Personal progressions and transits There seems to be an important difference between astrological influences in election charts and astrological influences in a personal progressive chart. When it comes to progressions and transits, Venus seems to be the most important celesital body, while Jupiter does not seem to influence your chances in speculation or gambling at all. Other research indicates that Jupiter promotes good luck in your career (job promotions and salary increases). General rule: In order to win you must have more favorable aspects with Venus than unfavorable aspects with Venus in your personal progressive chart. You will not win anything, if you have no personal aspects with Venus at all. Exception to the rule: Apparently a challenging aspect between Venus and Jupiter is better than a beneficial aspect between Venus and Jupiter. Examples Progressive Moon in beneficial aspect with Venus promotes winning. Progressive Mars in beneficial aspect with Venus promotes winning. Transit Jupiter forming a challenging aspect with Venus promotes winning. Transit Saturn in beneficial aspect with Venus promotes winning. Transit Venus aspects are very weak by themselves, but they may trigger a winning chance which is on the verge. Quote Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:15 am
