I am attempting to follow instructions to calculate the Arabic Part called the Part of Venus, or the part of Love and Concord, as described here:

THe instruction goes as follows:

"The Part of Love is the Part of Venus, signifying pleasures, desires, relationships and lovemaking in general. Take the distance in a diurnal chart between the Part of Fortune and the Part of Things to Come (and the reverse in a nocturnal chart) and project it from the ascendant. "

My question has to do with what it means to project this difference from the Ascendant. Does that mean to go clockwise, up towards the 12th house intot he eastern quadrant, or does it mean to go counterclockwise, towards the 1st house and into the northern quadrant?

Hi there - the distance between the two elements of the part is projected from the ascendant in the direction of the signs. The difference in longitude between the two elements of the part is also calculated in the direction of the signs. Effectively you add the distance in longitude to the degree position of the ascendant.
