December 1, 1910 Money from his Aunt
On December 1, 1910 Hitler received a substantial sum of money from his terminally ill Aunt. The profection was in the 10th whole sign, Cancer, with the Moon as the Lord of the Year. The Age Arc is 21º 37'. Dir->Dir

1. The directed Sun, ruler of the profected 2nd, is conjunct directed Venus, ruler of the radix 8th (inheritance)
2. The directed 8th, profected 11th (assistance), is conjunct the radix lot of Substance
3. Directed Pluto (8th house planet) is conjunct the radix Mars/Venus conjunction with Mars ruling the radix 2nd (money) and Venus the radix 8th (inheritance)
4. Directed Jupiter in the profected 6th (aunts and uncles) is conjunct its radix self. While the directed Moon, Lord of the Year, in the profected 6th opposes directed Saturn in the profected 1st.

There are no elements changing degree or critical in this period. The Moon, Lord of the Year, in the profected 6th could indicate work or an aunt or uncle and is reinforced by the directed 3rd aspects highlighting the house (3rd is profected 6th). The directed 8th to the radix lot of Substance indicates a financial inheritance which is supported by the Sun (ruler of the profected 2nd) conjunct Venus (ruler of the 8th). The Pluto conjunction may indicate he coerced the money out of his aunt. Saturn in the profected 1st could be indicating his poor state at the time; he was impoverished and homeless.

The lot of Substance is given by Bonatti (Al-biruni calls it the lot of Property) as being taken from the lord of the 2nd to the cups of the 2nd and projected from the Ascendant.

Ouranos wrote: Hairesis does not act on the power of the planet but on its quality. Angularity is power and supercedes dignities.

Thanks Ouranos, for the moment I'm trying to make myself focus on the basic direction and whether or not it conforms to the event. That involves working out what qualifies as an active aspect which we are told in the texts aversions (semi-sextiles and inconjunctions) are not unless they are mitigated. Based on that understanding I was ignoring semi-sextiles between Cancer and Leo (my mitigation rules are based on Paulus who doesn't mention any mitigation between the two signs). As I 've gone through the Worsdale charts and the chart studies so far I have noticed the semi-sextiles between the two signs popping up quite frequently hence my digging and deciding that maybe "the lights" should be considered as "one ruler" and hence the Cancer-Leo semi-sextiles should be considered as having the power of a conjunction.

I know I am missing all kinds of stuff in my analysis...term rulers, firdar, triplicity, recpetions, etc. I hope to explore much of that at a later date. For now, I just want to provide examples of directing solely by OA with latitude taken into account, across a number of charts as a sort of "proof of concept" that the method provides timely, meaningful directions for events within a nativity and can be applied usefully to any nativity.

On January 18, 1914 Hitler was arrested for dodging the draft and taken to Munich Police headquarters; he was released shortly afterwards being deemed physically unfit for service. He was 24 years old at the time, putting the profection in the 1st whole sign with the profected Asc at 26 Libra 40 and Venus as Lord of the Year. The Age Arc was 24º 45'. Dir->Dir

1. There are no directed elements that are critical during the time period. There are a number of elements changing degree but only Pluto (coercion) is active by direction, the directed 12th (prison) having moved into Pluto's trine while it is sextile radix Saturn (poverty) in the 10th (career) and the directed MC is conjunct the radix lot of Danger and sextile the radix 11th (profected 12th). Hitler argued he could not afford to travel to the place where he was supposed to register for the draft due to his career as a self-employed artist.

2. Mercury, ruler of the profected 12th, is sextile the directed SAN (success in life), the radix 11th (profected 12th), trine radix Jupiter and sextile the radix lot of Danger.

There is a repetition of factors by direction and profection pointing to the possibility of a confinement (12th) and danger but not a lasting one, given all the trines and sextiles. That he will be physically affected directly is shown by the directed Asc (life) being square the Moon (body).

The lot of Danger, Violence, & Debt is taken from Saturn to Mercury and projected from the Asc.

On January 15, 1933 the Nazi Party wins an election. Hitler was 43 at the time, putting the profection in the 8th whole sign, Taurus, making Venus (ruler of the radix 12th and Asc) the Lord of the Year. The Age Arc was 43º 44'. Dir->Dir

1. Nothing is in a critical degree; the directed Asc is changing degree but not involved in any aspects.

2. Directed Jupiter (ruler of the radix 5th of elections) is changing degree with the directed Sun in an unmitigated inconjunct to radix Jupiter so an aversion.

3. Directed Saturn (a 10th house planet) is changing degree and is opposite the directed Moon (ruler of the radix 10th) while directed Venus (ruler of the radix and profected Asc) is conjunct radix Saturn.

4. Directed Pluto is in the 8th (profected 1st) changing degree while conjunct the directed 8th (profection is in the 8th) while also in a mitigated semi-sextile (having the power of a conjunction) with the directed 2nd (profected 7th) and an unmitigated semi-sextile with the radix Venus-Mars conjunction in the radix 7th.

5. The directed 2nd (profected 7th) is conjunct directed Uranus (upset) while square the N. Node (critical point) while directed Uranus is trine the radix Venus-Mars conjunction in the 7th and sextile the N.Node and directed Neptune (in the profected 1st) is conjunct radix Uranus in the profected 5th (elections).

All of which points to an event involving Hitler's career (10th) that involves him (Venus as Asc ruler) and a group (Pluto) in a conflict (7th); possibly an election, given the 5th house activation. Uranus is likely showing the unexpectedness of the party's win. Hitler's party won the election with 33% of the vote but he was not in charge; a coalition government existed. This is possibly shown by the Sun/Jupiter aversion, he was not made the head of state in this election.

An interesting aspect is that of directed Mars conjunct the directed 12th (Libra on the profected 6th of the military) with Mars in a mitigated square (whose power is doubled) with the directed lot of Necessity (from Mercury to Fortune). Paulus tells us

“The [Lot of] Necessity makes subordinations and anxieties and conflicts and battles, also enmities and hatred and condemnations and all other violent things befalling men in the course of life.” (Holden trans. p41)

Possibly foreshadowing what was to come—the making of “conflicts and battle,...enmities and hatred and condemnations” ? Radix Mars is in the 7th (other countries) while the radix lot falls in the profected 9th, international relations.

On January 30, 1933 fifteen days after the Nazi Party were elected, President von Hindenburg appointed Hitler Chancellor of Germany. The profection is the same, in Taurus with Venus as Lord of the Year. The Age Arc is 15 days later, at 43º 47'. The directions are the same as those on the 15th with the following exceptions:

1. Directed Pluto has moved and is no longer in opposition to the directed 2nd and 3rd cusps nor semi-sextile the radix Venus-Mars conjunction.
2. The directed Moon is no longer in opposition to directed Saturn, who has changed degree.
3. The directed Sun is now conjunct the lot of Worldliness
4. The directed Moon is now trine directed Pluto

Al-Biruni says the lot of Worldliness is taken from Fortune to Venus and projected from the Ascendant; he ascribes it to the 11th house (supporters). The lot falls in Hitler's radix 11th; Hitler and his supporters have their wishes answered.

The Moon rules the radix 10th (authority, career) and it now trines Pluto (dictatorship). The German president, Hindenburg, appointed Hitler as Chancellor of Germany, giving him the means to dictatorship.

On March 12, 1938 Hitler successfully invaded Austria. The profection was in the 1st, with the profected Asc at 26 Libra and Venus acting as Lord of the Year. The Age Arc was 48º 54'. Dir->Dir

1. Mercury in the 6th (military) conjunct the 7th (conflict) and ruling the 9th (international affairs) and 11th (legislature) (profected 12th –hidden things) is critical but not directly involved in a directed aspect although he does rule the lot of Victory which is active.
2. The lot of Fortune is critical at 0 TA, changing degree and active being conjunct the radix Sun in the 7th (conflict).
3. Directed Pluto, in the radix 8th (death), is changing degree, trine the directed lot of Victory (a Jupiter lot ruled by Mercury with Pluto in Gemini and so disposited by Mercury), square radix Jupiter in the 3rd (neighbouring countries and ruler of the 6th of the military). The directed nodal axis is across the profected 2nd/8th (people's money, deaths but the 8th is also the cabinet of the president or prime minister). Jupiter is with the Moon in the 3rd who is conjunct the directed lot of Military Expeditions and while the directed Moon (L10) is opposite directed Saturn in the 10th of the president (Saturn also rules the 4th which is the 10th from the 7th—other countries head of state?)
4. The directed 2nd is in a mitigated semi-sextile (with the power of a conjunction) with Uranus (unexpected action in the 12th of secrets) while the directed Asc is in a mitigated semi-sextile (conj) with radix Uranus and Mars (conjunct Venus, lord of the Year and L1) in the 7th (conflict) is sextile Uranus; so unexpected (Uranus) secret (12th) military (Mars) action on Hitler's (Asc, Venus) part.
5. Also the directed 12th (secrets) is in the square (doubled) of directed Necessity (the cause of conflicts and battles) which is conjunct the radix 2nd. Was this all about wealth (2nd) or speculation as directed Neptune (an 8th house planet) is semi-sextile (conj) the lot of Military Affairs or could it just be indicating it was a costly secret military scheme about to be enacted?
6. Not quite sure what to make of directed Venus inconjunct the directed lot of Military Expeditions and the radix Moon while directed Mars is inconjunct the radix lot of Military Expeditions. Venus and Mars are both in the 7th (other countries) and the Moon is in the radix 3rd of neighbours conjunct the directed lot of Military Expeditions; the inconjunctions are truly averse as they are unmitigated—are they indicating Austria could not see the invasion coming, unlikely as Hitler had tried before, perhaps they couldn't see the consequences of the annexation? The Moon conjunction maybe indicating that the Austrian people welcomed the German expedition (the German troops were met by “an enthusiastic crowd”). Interestingly, reports say Hitler bullied (Pluto) the Austrian Chancellor into accepting the annexation.
   
   Probably overthinking it—the primary indications appear to be directed Pluto (drastic action) changing degree while square radix Jupiter in the 3rd of neighbours, ruling the 6th (military) and trine the directed lot of Victory with radix Pluto and Victory both in Mercury domiciles while Mercury is critical and in the radix 6th (military) conjunct the 7th (conflict) pointing to Hitler being victorious in a conflict with a neighbouring country.

On September 1st, 1939 Hitler invaded Poland. He was 50 years old with the profection in the 3rd whole sign, Sagittarius; however, the 3rd house cusp is at 27 SA which was being hit by a mitigated inconjunct (opposition) from Mercury so the profected Asc is in 27 SA with Mercury usurping Jupiter as the Lord of the Year. (Just realized I could use Janus' Horary Module to turn a chart...d'uh)

1. The Sun is critical, it's in the radix 7th (war) and rules the radix 10th but is not involved in any directions. Points to an emphasis on his leadership (Sun, 10th) in the context of a conflict, war (7th).

2. The directed 11th (Virgo) is changing degrees and falls on the profected 10th (authority) and we have Mercury acting as the Lord of the Year so he is ruling the profected 1st and 10th; in the radix he is in the 6th house of the military conjunct the 7th. And here, directed Mercury is square Fortune in the profected 7th. Again, an emphasis on his leadership (10th), war (7th) and this time bringing in the military and his Fortune in war (7th).

3. Directed Neptune is changing degrees, she is in the radix 8th, profected 6th (military), with Pluto, who, by direction, is conjunct the directed 6th and square the directed lot of Military Expeditions. Neptune is squaring the directed Moon; the radix Moon is in the 3rd (profected 1st) and ruling the profected 8th. Neptune is schemes, possibly indicating the military (6th) is part and parcel of his utopian vision (Neptune) for the German people (Moon).

4. Venus, the ruler of the radix Asc (hence Hitler), by direction, is conjunct the MC (actions) in a mitigated sextile (trine) with directed Pluto (dictatorial) and square the directed lot of Substance which Bonatti says represents “the maintenance of the life of men and their profit and other things, which are used by men for their maintenance”

5. Directed Uranus, in the profected 10th, is in a mitigated semi-sextile (conjunct) the radix lot of Military Affairs and the directed 2nd (Scorpio) which falls on the profected 12th; according to Wikipedia, Hitler had a secret (12th) pact with Russia for sharing Poland's captured property (2nd) which ties in with Pluto/lot of Substance activation.

In general, Hitler personally (1st, Venus, Mercury) acts (10th, MC) to instigate (squares) a surprise (Uranus) military (6th) conflict (7th) with a neighbouring country (profection in 3rd) while involved in an unexpected secret scheme (12th, Uranus, Neptune) to share the rewards with a third country.

While the military lots were active during the period, as they were in the action against Austria, this time the lot of Victory is not active possibly because here success hinged on the military; in Austria, it appears to have hinged on Hitler's public stature with the Austrian people.

On June 22, 1941 Hitler invaded Russia which was the beginning of the end for his dream of German domination. He was 52 years old so the profection was in the 5th whole sign from the Asc, Aquarius, with Saturn as Lord of the Year. Saturn, angular in the radix, is in the 6th of the military, in aversion to the 1st. The 7th (war) house planets, which include Mars, ruler of the radix 7th and the Sun, ruler of the profected 7th, are in the weaker 3rd house which does not bode well for winning a battle. The invasion was lengthy, lasting into January 1942 likely due to Saturn's influence.

1. No elements are in critical degrees.

2. The directed 12th (self-undoing) is the only element changing degree during the period. The radix 12th is in Libra which also covers the radix 1st; it is on the profected 9th. An indication an event connected with the native and his self-undoing will involve a foreign country and or long journey.

a. Venus rules the profected 9th and is in the profected 3rd (transportation, communications). Directed Venus is trine directed Pluto (dictatorial).

b. Venus also rules the radix Ascendant which, by direction, is trine the radix Venus-Mars conjunction in the radix 7th, profected 3rd. An indication the event will be connected to a dictatorial (Pluto) message (3rd) related to another country who is a partner or open enemy (7th).

3. Coupled with this is the directed MC trine radix Saturn, Lord of the Year and a 10th house (authority) planet while directed Saturn is in a mitigated square (doubled in strength) with Neptune, planet of schemes, illusions who is conjunct Pluto in the radix chart. An indication his actions (MC) as the leader of Germany (10th) are not only dictatorial (Pluto) but possibly confused or based on an illusion.

4. The directed Sun (ruler of the profected 7th) is in a mitigated inconjunct (opposition) to the radix 3rd (the radix 7th house planets are in the profected 3rd and the radix 3rd is now the profected 11th) while the directed 11th is square radix Uranus and directed Jupiter (in the profected 11th) is square directed Uranus. The 11th is allies and supporters, which Russia had been, up to this point. The Sun points to war (7th) being ordered on an ally (11th) while Uranus points to that ally being caught unawares and by all accounts Stalin was caught completely off-guard.

There is a strong emphasis on the connections between the 3rd the and 7th houses in both the profected chart and by direction. One of the reasons the invasion failed was the difficulty Germany had in maintaining communications and transportation over the large distances; the Russian front was 1,800km long and the march to Moscow was a long one. Saturn, lord of the year, in the profected 6th is an indication of how much Hitler had to rely on the military while the Moon, ruler of the profected 6th was in a good house but averse to him and inactive by direction.

There are a number of lots active that have me scratching my head so they need a closer look.

To begin with, I'm puzzled by the absence of one lot that is not active, the lot of Military Expeditions.

The Lot of Military Expeditions

This lot is given in the commentary to Paulus as from Saturn to the Moon and is found in the radix 5th at 19 Pisces. It falls in a good, middling house and its ruler, Jupiter, is in the 10th from Pisces, so strong; indications the lot will be effective and fortunate; however, Jupiter is in the radix 3rd, cadent and therefore weak. An indication his military expeditions will ultimately fail him? That there will be multiple new expeditions is indicated by the lot in a mutable (Pisces) sign and the ruler in a cardinal (Capricorn) sign.

At the time of the annexation of Austria it was conjunct the Moon, one of the lots constituents and it is with the lots ruler. The annexation was completed without any difficulty. At the time of the invasion of Poland the lot was in the square of directed Pluto, who is in the radix with Neptune, the modern co-ruler of Pisces. The operation went well but it triggered (square) a declaration of war from Britain.

Here, at the time of the largest military land operation ever to be attempted, the lost was not activated by a planet, it was however, in the trine of the directed 11th. Hitler had no difficulty (trine) ordering the military action but there was not enough planetary energy to see it through to a successful end?


The Lot of Military Affairs

The Lot of Military Affairs is given by Firmicus as from Mars to the Sun, it is in the 12th at 11 Libra with Venus in the radix 7th (strong) but in Taurus, inconjunct the lot as Taurus is the 8th from Libra; however, as the 8th and the 12th are both ruled by Venus the inconjunct has the power of an opposition. So, it is active but unfortunate by placement (12th and 8th) and aspect (Venus is applying to conjunct Mars and square Saturn). In the 12th, it points to military matters being handled secretly, behind the scenes with possibly criminal intent or guile.

This lot was active in all three events: Austria, Poland and Russia. At the time of the annexation of Austria directed Venus was in a mitigated semi-sextile (conjunction) with the radix lot; and again, the affairs it denoted went smoothly. When Poland was invaded directed Uranus was in a mitigated semi-sextile (conjunction) with the radix lot while directed Venus was semi-sextile the directed lot and the directed 2nd (profected 12th) was conjunct the radix lot. Hitler invaded Poland with the understanding (based on a secret pact) that Russia would not interfere. Again, the affairs denoted went smoothly.

For this event, directed Venus, the lots ruler, was in a mitigated semi-sextile (conjunction) with the directed lot and directed Pluto was in an unmitigated inconjunct (full aversion) with the directed lot; indicating his plans took place (Venus conjunction) put his orders (Pluto) fell through (aversion).

The Lot of Victory

The lot of Victory is given by Paulus as being from Spirit to Jupiter projected from the Ascendant and he says it “was established as the cause of faith and good hope and contest and all association, but also of attack and success” (Holden trans. p.129) In this chart, it is at 14 Virgo in the 11th house with Mercury at 25 Aries in the 6th (military) conjunct the 7th (war) so the “attack and success” significations appear to apply. The lot itself is in a good house, so fortunate, but Mercury is averse to the lot in a weak house although given strength by his close conjunction (1º 01') to the 7th. At the time of the annexation of Austria, directed Pluto was trine Victory and as we've already seen, Hitler had an easy victory.

The lot was not active during the invasion of Poland but it was involved in three aspects during the invasion of Russia:

1. Directed Neptune was semi-sextile the directed lot of Victory; unmitigated so a true aversion, dreams (Neptune) of Victory did not pan out (aversion)

2. Directed Mars (ruler of the radix 7th of war) in a mitigated sextile (conjunction) the radix lot of Victory; the only reason I can see for this not resulting in Victory is that the lot is in the profected 8th and profected Mars is weak in the 3rd; weak communications within the military (Mars)?

3. Saturn (LoY) in a mitigated sextile (trine) to the directed lot of Victory. Saturn is ruler of the profected Asc and in the profected 6th (military) but weak. I think this is showing Hitler thought the victory would be an easy (trine) one and not enough effort was put into it; perhaps a case of him thinking Germany would win because he'd ordered the military to win.

Worldliness & Debilitated Bodies

Because this was a loss I looked for lots that might indicate a loss and found Debilitated Bodies was active however it put me in a bit of a pickle as it falls on the same degree as the lot of Worldliness which had been active in the earlier successful events so it made me wonder if either one is really relevant?

The lot of Debilitated Bodies is given by al-Biruni as being from Fortune to Mars projected from the Ascendant and he gives the lot of Worldliness as being from Fortune to Venus projected from the Ascendant (so both are Hermetic or planetary lots). In this chart they are both located at 10 Virgo in the 11th house, a good place but with the same drawbacks as the lot of Victory above, its ruler, Mercury, is averse.

During the annexation of Austria, directed Saturn (a 10th house planet) was in a mitigated square (doubled) to both directed lots while Jupiter was trine radix Saturn. It seems Jupiter and the radix lot position in the 11th won out here, he had the necessary support (11th) to win.

During the invasion of Poland directed Venus was conjunct the direct lots while the directed 3rd (profected Asc) was in a mitigated sextile (trine) to the radix lots. This time it seems the easy aspects and the the radix lot position won out.

The directions during the Russian invasion are harsher:

1. Directed Venus is conjunct the directed lots and trine Pluto but its possible Venus (Asc ruler) is debilitated as she is weak in the profected 3rd

2. Directed Jupiter is square the radix lots who are conjunct directed Uranus. Radix Uranus is in the 12th (evil spirit) and the profected 8th (idle place); while radix Jupiter is in the 3rd (weak) and profected 11th (middling). So, they had some luck (Jupiter) but not enough to overcome the weakness of Venus and the badly placed Uranus?

Debilitated seems an apt description for the German army by January 1942; they had been through a very hard winter, being neither well supplied nor supported with Russians attacking weak spots all along their strung out supply lines; eventually putting an end to their march on Moscow.

Wikipedia cites references giving “the main reasons [for the loss] were German military unpreparedness, poor intelligence of actual Soviet strength, extensive logistical difficulties, high levels of attrition and heavy casualties, and overextension of German forces within the vast Soviet territories.”

The Germans lost 830,000 men; the loss marked the beginning of the end for Hitler. Neptune (involuntary servitude) conjunct Pluto (large groups) in the radix 8th of death now in the profected 4th of endings.

On July 20, 1944 Hitler survived an assassination attempt. He was unharmed by a time bomb that had been hidden in a briefcase and left near his feet while he attended a meeting. The bomb was planted by one of his staff and it was another staff member who, innocently, moved the briefcase behind a heavy table leg as he moved closer to explain something to Hitler. The heavy table acted to shield Hitler; 4 others were killed by the explosion; Hitler received minor injuries. He was 55 at the time, the profection was in the 8th whole sign, Taurus. The 8th house cusp is at 23 Taurus 56 and was in the sextile of the directed Sun who usurps Venus' rulership, and takes over as Lord of the Year. The 8th house is concerned with death and here it is on the profected 1st with Neptune (schemes, confusion) and Pluto (groups, drastic actions). The Sun (life) is Lord of the Year in the 12th of secret enemies, crime. It is with Mars (violence) and the radix Ascendant ruler (Venus); if the cusps were displayed correctly at 23º it would be easier to see that Mercury (secretaries, experts) is also in the 12th with the Sun. The profected 8th has Sagittarius on the cusp with Jupiter in the 8th throwing his trine to the 12th which likely helped protect Hitler from actual death.

1. Venus, the ruler of the radix Ascendant, the co-ruler of the profected Asc and ruler of the radix 8th is critical at 29 Cancer conjunct the radix lot of Enemies. She is not active by direction but radix Venus is in the trine/sextile the directed 5th/11th axis which is lying on the radix nodal axis in the radix 3rd/9th (meetings, travel). The directed Nodal axis is changing degrees indicating a critical event in the life. Venus is with Mars (violence) who, by direction, is trine the directed lot of Enemies. Venus rules the profected 6th of employees and it was an employee who planted the bomb (Venus with Mars) and another employee who moved it, and so saved his life.

2. Directed Neptune, who is changing degrees and so signalling a possible event, is trine the directed lot of Enemies and in opposition to the radix lot of Assassination. Radix Neptune is in the mitigated sextile (trine) of the directed lots of Worldliness and Debilitated Bodies, the mitigated inconjunct (opposition) of the directed lot of Military Expeditions, and the mitigated square (doubled) of the lot of Military Affairs. All the directed lots are critical at 0 degrees of their signs while radix Neptune is critical in hers. Neptune is the modern significator of assassins.

3. The Sun, who usurps Venus as Lord of the Year by his sextile to the 8th house cusp (profected 1st), is not active by direction but the radix Sun is in the square of the directed lots Worldliness and Debilitated Bodies; the trine of Military Expeditions and Military Affairs. The directed 2nd/8th axis is connected to directed Uranus by a mitigated semi-sextile (conjunct) to the 2nd while directed Jupiter (ruler of the profected 8th) is square directed Uranus. All of these directed lots are in the critical 0 degree of their signs, as is the radix Sun. In the profected chart, the Sun is in the 12th with Mercury, the classic significator of assassins. Interestingly, they are in different signs so the assassin gets close but not quite close enough. Uranus points to an unexpected, possibly explosive event that could threaten the life (2nd/8th)

4. The directed MC is conjunct the directed lot of Enemies and in a mitigated sextile (trine) with directed Mars (violence) who is with Venus (L1) in the profected 12th. The radix MC is in the trine of directed Saturn who is conjunct radix Pluto. Indications are his action during the period will bring him into contact with enemies (lot, 12th) and a possibly violent (Mars) and drastic (Pluto), and harmful (Saturn, 12th) situation.

5. The directed Asc is conjunct the radix lot of Victory; a Jupiter lot while Jupiter is ruling the profected 8th. It is most likely his influence and the number of trines and sextiles that protected Hitler from death at this time; also, the lot of Death was not activated.

On April 30, 1945 In a bunker under his Berlin headquarters, Hitler swallows a cyanide pill and shoots himself in the head; he was 56 years old. The profection is in the 9th whole sign, Gemini, with the profected Asc at 26 Gemini and Mercury as Lord of the Year. Mercury, ruling the 1st and 4th is in the 10th (career). The radix 8th is on the 12th of self-undoing.

1. Neptune (often connected with suicide) is critical and trine the directed lot of Enemies while involved in a mitigated inconjunct (opposition) to its radix self, trine the radix Sun (life), and trine the radix lot of Death.

2. The directed 11th is changing degrees. The radix 11th is in Virgo which is on the profected 4th (end of things); it is ruled by Mercury, ruler of the profected 1st. Mercury itself is not involved in any directions; however, the directed MC (actions) is in Gemini and conjunct the directed lot of Enemies, and the lot of the Marriage of Men while in a mitigated sextile (trine) with directed Mars. Hitler married Eva Braun one day before they both committed suicide.

3. Venus, ruler of both the radix Asc and 8th as well as the profected 12th, is changing degrees and while not involved in a direction itself, the radix Venus-Mars conjunction is sextile to the directed 11th (profected 4th). Neptune and Venus both signify poison; Venus conjunct Mars (violence, weapons).

4. Directed Jupiter, ruler of the profected 7th, is conjunct the lot of Suicide and semi-sextile the directed Moon while the directed 3rd, in Sagittarius, is on the 7th of marriage.

Reading the Chart
Hitler's natal 7th House holds four planets, including the Ascendant ruler, Venus. This is an immediate indication the life will involve conflicts with other people and possibly war. Paulus tells us that Mars in the 7th "comes to be responsible for many evils". We can speculate that the evil Mars attracts will be made worse by his own detriment (in Taurus) and his square (2º 56') to a powerful (angular) Saturn in detriment (Leo). The combination completely corrupts Venus, who, by occupying her own domicile and being placed in an angle, is extremely well placed to effect what she signifies as ruler of the 1st (life) and 8th (death) along with what Mars signifies, conflict and war (7th).

This malefic combination is strengthened by the trine of Jupiter conjunct Moon which confers success and luck. And as the Moon is in Fall and Jupiter is in detriment, both disposited by a powerful corrupted Saturn in detriment, the quality of the effects will be degraded, harmful, corrupt and without morals. The Moon co-rules the 9th of oratory and foreign relations and he garnered popularity among the people (Moon) largely through his speeches. While Saturn, in detriment in the the 10th and afflicted by a Mars in detriment coupled with the accidental malefic Venus, promises to destroy any fame and honours the Moon produces through his speech (3rd/9th).

Uranus conjunct the Asc and in a mitigated inconjunction (opposition) with the Venus-Mars conjunction indicates the native will be erratic and unusual with little regard for conventional behaviour or authority. Pluto and Neptune in Gemini in the 8th connects mass (Pluto) death (8th) with the career (Pluto partile sextile MC).

The emphasis on war (military matters) is also shown by the lot of Fortune ruled by Mercury in Aries in close (1º 01') conjunction to the 7th; his "prosperity and career" (Fortune) comes from the military (6th), partners and conflicts (7th) involving foreign places (Fortune in the 9th). Hitler's rise in power was accelerated by members of the German military elite: General Schleicher and Field-Marshall von Hindenburg as well as partnerships the people (Moon) and business men (Jupiter) in the 7th from Fortune.

The virtue or quality of the native is practically non-existent despite Venus being in domicile. The Moon, Mars and Saturn are in Detriment, Jupiter and Neptune are in Fall. The Sun is peregrine and disposited by a corrupted Venus while Mercury is peregrine and disposited by a corrupted Mars. Add to this Venus' connection with the 8th and 12th and the malignity of the effects increases.

Rise in Life

That Hitler would rise in life and eventually fall is shown by Saturn in the 10th. Other indications can be seen from:

• the Sun ruling the 10th, strong in an angle in a fixed sign with its dispositor, Venus, who is also the Ascendant ruler and trine the Moon (ruler of Fortune)/Jupiter conjunction (luck)
• the SAN which Valens says will indicate the level of success a person will have in life, Hitler's SAN is at 26 Libra, exactly on his Ascendant which is one of the most fortunate positions it can have (the other are on the MC or Asc ruler).
• Fortune ruled by the Moon and with either connected to the benefics (Jupiter conjunct Moon, Venus trine Moon) make the person “glorious, distinguished, and vigorous”. Jupiter and the Moon are cadent in the chart but angular in relation to the lot and the Moon is in her joy in the 3rd. The conjunction is averse to Saturn, trine to Mars
• Another possible indication is Saturn, in the 10th, moving up to the North (based on moving toward his Exaltation degrees).

Triplicity Rulers
The Sun is the sect light, in Taurus, the triplicity rulers are Venus, the Moon and Mars. Venus rules the first half of life and is angular (strong) and in domicile (strong) with Mars as the participating ruler also angular and conjunct. The Moon cadent is an indication of a later fall although it does help him rise by being in her joy, trine and with Jupiter.

12th Part
The calculated 12th Part of the Sun is 10 Gemini 24 in the 8th house with Mercury in the 11th place from the Gemini, a good place; Mercury in Aries is strong in being conjunct the 7th but weak as placed in the 6th It does point to his gaining eminence for military (6th) speeches (Mercury).

The 12th part by division falls in Taurus in the 7th, strong, being angular.

General Overview
Hitler has 7 planets above the horizon indicating he will lead a largely public life. With 6 planets in the Western hemisphere his life is largely moulded by circumstance although 4 in the Eastern hemisphere indicate he is also capable of shaping events according to his on desires.
He has 5 planets in Earth making him practical, while 2 in Fire give him zeal and enthusiasm and 3 in Air can him verbose and indecisive. He has no planets in Water indicating a lack of sympathy and kindly emotions.

He has 4 planets in Fixed signs making him very active and determined to the point of being rigid about what he wants to accomplish. He also has 4 planets in the Cardinal signs, an indication of great activity and a tendency to have too many irons in the fire, starting new projects before finishing off the older ones. With two planets in the the Mutable signs indicate he can adapt to new conditions, when necessary.

The he has 3 planets in the public houses (8, 9, 10, 11) and four in the companionship houses (4, 5, 6, 7) indicating the majority of his energies are absorbed by his relations with others on activities that will attract public attention. 1. Venus, a natural significator of the mother, rules the 8th (death) from the 10th (mother), and the profected 8th and 12th (sorrow). In the profection, Venus is with Mars in the 1st. Directed Venus is in a mitigated square (doubled) with radix Saturn who rules the radix 8th and is in the profected 4th (end of the matter) and the directed MC is trine directed Saturn; the radix MC is in Aquarius which is on the profected 12th.

2. Mars is critical, he is conjunct Venus in the radix; Mars is said to rule hepatitis. Directed Mars is square Pluto who is in the profected 4th with Saturn while directed Pluto is involved in a trine to the directed Moon (also a significator of the mother). The directed Asc is sextile radix Mars and trine radix Uranus possibly indicating the event was sudden (Mars) and unexpected (Uranus).

3. The directed 12th (sorrow) is conjunct Mercury (ruler of the radix Asc) in the radix 12th while the directed lot of the Mother is conjunct the radix 12th.

4. The lot of Fortune is the only element changing degree. Directed Fortune was opposite the lot of the Mother's Death. Welles Fortune did change on his mother's death, he went to live with his father who was wealthy but an alcoholic who took his son out of school and around the world for two years; eventually returning and enrolling him in a private school.
