i finally heard back from the author of the book where vish navamsha is discussed in detail in the chapter on the 64th navamsha... it turns out he gives the description on page 12 of the book, but goes into the details in the 2nd last chapter of the book... i didn't retain this bit of info that i had passed by and there was no reference to it page 116 to 125 where he discussed it at length...

vish navamsha is based on certain navamsha positions of planets and is called vish navamsha.. these are

1 - first navamsha of aries, taurus, virgo and sag... these are also called sarp navamsha

2- first navamsha of gemini, leo, libra and aquarius.. these are also called gridha navamsha.

3- ninth navamsha of cancer, scorpio, capriocrn and pisces.. these are also called shookar navamsha..

any planet place in these navamshas are harmful to the relative signified by the planet.. if moon occupy any of these navamsha then it brings harm to mother.. we will discuss the application of vish navamsha in the chapter of sixty fourth navamsha...

a better edition of the book would put this info on page 12 at the beginning of the chapter of sixty fourth navamsha, which appears much later in the book! i have told the author this too...
