Another example: sun, Venus, Ascendant in Taurus, moon in Aquarius, Saturn in Cancer, Jupiter in
Libra, Mars, Mercury in Gemini. In his first years, the native had great political prestige, affairs, and
positions of trust. The rulers [Venus moon] of the triangle [Taurus Virgo Capricorn] happened to be at
angles [Ascendant, MC].

Later his livelihood was ruined and he become a vagabond. Mars and Mercury
were in opposition to the Place of Accomplishment and the rulers [Saturn Jupiter] of the Lot and of the Place of Accomplishment preceded angles [IC Descendant]

political offices, and enjoyed honors.

The rulers [Saturn Mercury] of the triangle of the sun [Gemini
Libra Aquarius] and of the Lot and the exaltation were found in their own domains and in aspect with
Jupiter. /83P/ Mars, Saturn, and Mercury were unfavorably situated and so reduced his means and made
him financially embarrassed.

This example doesnt clearly specify which sign the Lot of Fortune is in so I left it out to avoid confusion. I believe the text is suggesting its in either Gemini or Aquarius though.

EDIT: The Lot of Fortune is in the sign Aquarius.

interesting exercise here kubernetes.. thanks for sharing... i can tell you that based on this chart, the lot of fortune would land in aquarius... cheers james

regarding valens use of the part of fortune and houses extended off the part of fortune - this technique seemed popular in hellenistic astrology and we see a lot of examples in the charts that kubernetes has provided here....

how do you personally use the part of fortune and its connection with the rest of the chart in this regard? do you use quadrant houses, or whole sign houses? or - is this a hellenistic technique that you no longer use? thanks..

That's great resource Martin, and free too; thanks for pointing us to that.

I thought the book was pretty spendy at 47 USD though there are copies available on the used book market now for about 30 USD, that is where I got mine.

Books are maybe fast becoming an anachronism but I do prefer to have a printed book in my hand. I also don't need to recharge the battery on my laptop. lol.

I only consider the whole sign houses from fortune angles, I don't consider the dynamic angles or quadrant houses in this case. I think it's just way too much extra complexity. I don't even consider close aspects/conjunctions between the Lot of Fortune and planets; I only use the whole sign aspects.

I base my reasoning on the observation by Robert Schmidt that entire signs/houses get "angularized" by the presence of the Lot of Fortune, implying that the specific degree (marked by the Lot of Fortune) doesn't really matter. This is just my casual opinion based on inference, it's definitely not comprehensive.
