thanks therese!

these are screenshots taking off my thinkpad laptop which i generally don't like opening! i am still stuck on the mainframe computer here without solar fire, but i can follow what stefan is doing ( sort of ) by using the laptop... i am hoping to get SF back on this main computer, but i am going to have to wait some time for that to happen.. i have been reliant on a friend in his early 40s who is a computer wiz.. he set it up on this computer which is running ubuntu - via a program called wine... i need to find someone else who can do this.. solar fire and many software programs are not meant to be run on linux basically... but there are ways to work around this too, such as using the wine option..

i am sorry you can't see the numbers very well.. i have a magnifying glass i can lend you, lol! in fact, if you hold down the Ctrl key and keep on pressing the + button on your keyboard, the image will keep on zooming in and getting very large... you can try that.. it will help to let you see the degrees.. cheers james

yeah I think that may be one of the reason why I am fascinated by them. The search for the "golden direction" that makes the whole prediction coming forth.. :D

And more about the timesensitivity of the angles in Primary directions and in ordinary progressions and solar arc's. It is an issue for the consulting astrologer about what to do with them in their work. I have noticed some different approaches by professional astrologers.

Robert Hand said in a webinar I watched that in his consulting work he do a short validation (rectification) of the chart during the consultation (or before the actual consultation perhaps) by using the 90-dial and casting some Solar arc directions to the chart to see if it is usable before the consultation. I assume he then are checking the angles et,c, I think this aproach is doable for an astrologer who consults not very often or with larger intervals between the clients as it is timeconsuming in a way.

Bernadette Brady who no longer do consultations said in a course that she do not use the progressed angles in her work because they don't work good for her. And she is an astrologer who used to have 2 clients a day. I guess that the task of validating each chart before the consultation is not realistic for an astrologer who want's to have many clients and support oneself on consultations.

The Vedic legendary astrologer K N Rao spend each consultation he have to rectifying the chart, for about 30-40 minutes a large portion of the consultation, before he actually sums it up with some predictions into the future.
Here it is important to get the Indian astrology 's many subcharts (divisional charts)for relationships, career, siblings et,c, correctly with the correct ascendant and houses before being able to predict correctly on various life areas.

Some astrolgers of good standing does not even mentioning this issue with the importance of a good birthtime to use the progressed or directed angles in astrology.
One such example is Celeste Teal who wrote some books on prediction. And she writes about the importance about the progressed angles which she sets up as key background for predictions, but nothing in the books about the fact that if the birthtime is off, which most are, then the timing is off as well.... :D

Best wishes

Thanks for the references on the matter Stefan!

Another quick way I have learned from cosmobiology is to look at the arc opening between 2 planets.
Say you have a trine of 122 degrees between Sun and Moon and you want to know when this trine is most likely to manifest.
You take 122/2 = 61 years 61/2=30.5 years 30.5/2=15.25 years and so on.
The division by 2 brings one planet in the midpoint of the 2 on the 180d Dial, 90 Dial, 45 Dial and so on.
You can look in Rules for Planetary Pictures under
Sun+Sun=Moon or Moon+Moon=Sun (husband and wife, marriage, parents, friendships)

A variation of this is to take the midpoint and move it to a natal planet by hard aspect including the conjunction. With the example above, Sun/Moon for marriage to Jupiter (fortunate), to Saturn (divorce) etc

Like using the Solar Arc and dividing it by a multiple of 2.
The time will be lengthened during summer months and shortened during winter months. Reverse in the South hemisphere.
Just a quick appraisal technique.

Best to you,
Ouranos
Blessings!

there are a few things that are being touched on here... 1 - the idea that primary directions if one has an accurate birth chart - can be a stand alone technique for predictive work.. and 2 - the importance of a birth time which can be aided by a rectification process -what i call a wrectification process..

i don't believe in either.. from all the wrectifications that i have seen, including the work off the wrectification software of isaac starkmans - polaris, i think it is fools work.. case in point - hillary clintons chart. i think if the time is said to be off a birth chart and rated A or AA by astrodatabank, one can involve themselves in the work outlined by stefan in his post, but if it is more nebulous, i think you can forget about these processes...

it was lloyd cope who first emphasized to me the importance of getting confirmation a few different ways off various predictive tools used in astrology... take stefans post on the primary direction 150 between midheaven and saturn.. stefan also pointed out the transit of uranus to the same saturn.. in fact, i also noted the primary direction square of uranus to saturn for this time period for nicola sturgeon april 2023 and again - uranus is transiting saturn at the same time...

to sum up.. i don't believe in rectifications most of the time... and 2 - i think one needs confirmation with a few different astro predicative tools...

let me end with 2 more more quotes from you two...

best to you and best wishes
james

therese

is this any easier? this is 212 minutes forward from birth for sturgeon... 4 x 53 = 212.. that is 4 minutes per year x 53 because she is 53.. it is the same chart i posted earlier that you had difficultly seeing the degrees on.. you will hopefully see the pd midheaven 150 to saturn on 27 degrees..
