Re: Aries Point 13 by Ouranos Hello Jason, Have you tried pairing the techniques with something from the traditional sphere, like the most recent "great" Jupiter/Saturn conjunction? I'd be interested in seeing something on that. We are led to believe that Uranian astrology is a modern branch of astrology. But as Ebertin explains in his Combination of Stellar Influences 'the use of half-sums (midpoints) was used by Guido Bonati (13th century) with his method of rectification... and Alan Leo in 'Modern Astrology' speaks of the midpoint between 2 planets which is touched as it were bye the passage of a directed stellar body.' (p. 21).' The term aspect means the angular distance between two stars or as Kepler said 'An aspect is a geometrical combination of 2 planetary light-rays'. And as such there is always an aspect between both. And what are the Parts or Lots other than a calculation of midpoints. Ebertin also explained that soft aspects signify a 'state of things whereas hard aspects signify an action of an event.' And this is where you can evaluate the nature of an angular distance. For example, take the Sun/Moon angular distance with Jupiter in the midpoint. Soft aspect = Easy, financially secure marriage Hard aspect = A sure marriage with lots of ups and downs but more rewarding as you earned it. Other aspects = You need to find out the Harmonic relationship (5, 7, 9 etc) to qualify the marriage but you can expect a more spiritual approach out of the ordinary. Both Ebertin and the Rulebook say of Sun/Moon = husband and wife, marriage. Which is not different than what Ptolemy said in Tetrabiblos IV, 5 where he looked at the Sun and Moon for marriage. Faith McInerney on her website gives several examples of the Sun/Moon midpoint https://midpointobservatory.blogspot.co ... nmoon.html SU/MO=JU 'Partners often have travel or foreign attributes, met a partner on a trip like Wes Craven who married a flight attendant, George Clooney's wife was born in Beirut, Sarkozi married an Italian, Mark Zuckerberg met his wife with that transit of Jupiter in his midpoint, Britney Spears married first husband on a Jupiter station in her midpoint. What are the differences between Ebertin vs. Witte's approaches? I'm only vaguely familiar with both of them. I have Ebertin's Combination of Stellar Influences, and it's great, but I note he doesn't use the trans-neptunian (is that right?) planets that you do in following Witte's teachings. Ebertin has more explanations on the psychological and physiological level while Witte goes straight to the event without much explanations where you have to figure it out. More like a set of keywords. For the Trans-Neptunians, they are located in the Asteroid Belt between Mars and Jupiter and the belt is estimated to contain between 1.1 and 1.9 million asteroids larger than 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) in diameter and millions of smaller ones. james_m mentions the idea of having a dedicated Uranian category added to the forum. I think that would be a great idea, though I'm not sure what sort of work that requires on the back end, and I know they are probably up to their ears with work right now as they make updates to the site. Are there any other forums on the web dedicated to the Uranian branch? I am comfortable with the actual format as Uranian astrology is not a modern creation but rediscovering what some ancients astrologers were saying but any format is fine with me. Some sites I have investigated Michael Feist where you can order most the books from the Uranian School https://witte-verlag.com/ https://astrax.de/ Forum hosted by Karsten F. Re: Aries Point 15 by Greg Young Aries Point for 2023 ARIES INGRESS POSEIDON/MC 1°10 VULCANOS/SEDNA 0°38 CHIRON 0°31 ARIES POINT CHIRON/ORCUS 89°27 ME/NE 89°21 PLUTO/SEDNA 89°2 Chiron on the World Point should have been a warning that this year, yr 2023, would not be a happy one. Healing and wounds being the least of it. Note that Vulcanos (& Poseidon) feature strongly and in close proximity to Chiron on the Aries Point. The World has suffered 3 major earthquakes this year, all three of which were devastating for the countries involved. Also add the recent volcanic activity throughout various regions of the World and it may be prudent to look for both Poseidon & Vulcanos on the Aries Point in similar years in the past to check for any correlation between the three. Must admit that in consideration of the past few months re. Gaza it might have been expected to find Hades on the Aries Point although Pluto here is capable of being of a similarly baleful influence. Re: Aries Point 16 by Ouranos Thank you Jason, Greg, I need to tweek my understanding about the asteroids like Sedna but why not. Thanks for bringing that up. This website A Bigger Picture has some interesting explanations of Sedna. "Sedna is associated with great losses, extreme materialism, stolen wealth, ill-gotten gains, greed and globalisation. Also food shortages, global supply chain issues, endangered species dying out, and the sins against nature." https://www.abiggerpicture.com/sedna/29th-degree Sedna was discovered in 2003 and named for the Inuit sea goddess who lived in the Arctic Ocean. It has an orbital period of 11,390 years. The midpoints Vulcanus/Sedna and Pluto/Sedna seem to be related to the revival of the First Nations around the world and the climate changes in the spotlight every other day. And as you point out Greg, the Vulcanus/Sedna on the Vernal Point seems to reflect well the climate changes consequences. Blessings! Quote Wed Nov 29, 2023 4:25 pm

So Witte proposed the existence of several hypothetical Trans-Neptunian objects, too. While modern technology has verified the existence of thousands of Trans-Neptunian objects, the specific Trans-Neptunian objects that are used by the Hamburg School and Uranian astrology have not yet been validated or disproven as of September 2011. " there is nothing ancient about the use of hypothetical planets as presented by alfred witte... perhaps there are some connections between the use of midpoints and arabic parts...i could go that far.. but ebertin disavowed the use of the hypothetical planets and came up with the name cosmobiology to define the use of midpoints, various different wheels - 90, 45, and etc ( see linchis posts in the sidereal forum on the various use of bigger and bigger harmonics - 4,8, 16, 64, 128, 256 and etc - all hard aspect relationships ) and etc.. thus there is some confusion over the use of the labels here - uranian, hamburg, cosmobiology... claiming this is much older then 100 years is laughable as i see it.. Reread please. But the use of midpoints is. Kepler's writings if full of trigonometric figures. According to the Astrology Center of America, Reinhold Ebertin came to Uranian astrology, and, according to the story, was denied permission to use the new Transneptunians in his work. So he reduced the Uranian system to the 90 degree dial, 45 degree graphic ephemeris and half sums (eg, midpoints). And Ebertin did not invent the wheel We are not far from who invented the planets, aren't we? Blessings! Quote Wed Nov 29, 2023 5:30 pm

Appreciate your clarifications james_m. I agree that the similarities between midpoints and the "lots" seems compelling. I've got a copy of Zoller's "Arabic Parts" book which probably needs to be dusted off (I don't work with these formulas myself). If I remember correctly from my reading of it years ago, the real meat of the book is in its first half when he talks sacred number theory, etc. Maybe I'll give it another spin when I have some downtime one of these days. The harmonics piece is something I've heard about but never really looked into- thanks for the recommendation for where to find some discussions of it here on the forum. james_m wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2023 5:53 pm bottom line - many reject the use of hypothetical planets, just as a number of astrologers incorporate asteroids and recently discovered planetary bodies too I'm also wary of hypothetical planets, and don't use asteroids. I spent some years not using the outers at all just try and undo the early conditioning I had from initially learning astrology through books that treated them as all the rage. I'm glad I did that. It definitely helped me deepen and hone my understanding of the classical 7 and their power. But I have to admit, a friend of mine who is into asteroids did show me a some pretty wild links to my own chart once, and so even though I'm not planning to use them anytime soon (or probably ever) I'm still curious to listen when people who work with them have a passion for it. I'm cool with Ouranos, Greg, or whoever wants to sharing about them. As the saying goes, I'll take what I need and leave the rest. thoughts are just thoughts Quote Wed Nov 29, 2023 6:47 pm
Re: Aries Point 21 by james_m thanks jason.. yes - take what you want and leave what you don't want.. i think that is how everyone ought to approach all the ideas in astrology.. david cochrane wrote an interesting article making the connection between arabic parts and midpoints a number of years ago.. i had read the article, but perhaps others here would like to as well.. the aries point - topic of this thread - could be considered an important midpoint as well! https://www.astrosoftware.com/ArabicParts.htm Quote Wed Nov 29, 2023 7:38 pm
Re: Aries Point 22 by Ouranos Interesting link to Cochrane James! May I remind you that you are already working with dwarf planets (Sedna & Cie) when you talk about Pluto. And what about Fortuna, where is it in the sky? I need a tangible proof of this point that you put in a chart. I will skip the house cusps, another fallacy. That's a lot of disproven cases we have to keep track of. Astrology is in the eye of the beholder. "Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving" Einstein A dream you dream together is reality. ------------------ Jason, Thank you for keeping your eyes opened. The other day, as I was reflecting at the Trans-neptunians, I kept thinking that their names come from the Greeks. For example, in Greek mythology, the god of the underworld is Hades; Pluto is the Latin form (used in English) of the Greek name Ploutōn, meaning 'wealth-giver', because wealth is seen as coming from the earth. And in this case, Uranian astrology says that Pluto is change, transformation, division, metamorphosis and change from within, immediate past. Hades is poverty, baseness, lack, illness, repulsiveness, far past. There seems to be an extra layer, deeper with the Trans-neptunians of something we already know. Same with Jupiter and Apollon. Jupiter is success and abundance but Apollon is greatest success and greatest abundance as if Jupiter is an addition and Apollon a multiplication. Jupiter is also goodwill, kindness and abundance but Zeus is controlled activity and energy as if Jupiter is donating to the needy but Zeus is controlling the donation. I could go on and on like this on comparisons but there seems to be a gradation that have been introduced in our human psyche. Fascinating! Blessings! Quote Wed Nov 29, 2023 9:04 pm

I enjoyed the article by Cochrane. There are a lot of astrologers I see today saying they use the Lots (though I feel like I've seen very few examples of practical application - just people espousing their use). I see the Lot of Fortune and Spirit referenced all of the time, but I don't really recall ever seeing much on the Lot of Retribution that Cochrane brings up. Maybe there's another name it's being called by? This article would probably be fascinating to those working with these formulas, Anyway, interesting stuff.
