Profected 7th – Age 18 May 24, 1837-38 William IV dies On June 20, 1837 King William IV died and Princess Victoria became Queen Victoria. She was 18 years old, the profection was in the 7th whole sign, Sagittarius with Jupiter as Lord of the Year but as directed Saturn was at 5 Pisces, in a mitigated (doubled) square to the 7th house cusp, he takes over the times. In the radix, Saturn rules the 10th and is in Pisces, ruled by Jupiter who is posited in Aquarius in the 10th, emphasizing her career or status in the world. In the profected chart Saturn is in the 4th with Pluto (drastic action) indicating some change with regard to her family and home or the end of some matter.

Victoria's official coronation will not happen until June 1938, a year away; believe this is indicated by the profected Asc and Saturn being in mutable signs so the end result of what is indicated will take a while before being finalized; that Saturn rules the fixed sign Aquarius on the 10th with Jupiter in that sign (with Saturn receiving Jupiter receiving Saturn, the pair in a state of 'generosity', in each other's signs without aspect) indicates the end result will be a permanent (fixed) one.

The Age Arc was 18º 04'.

• The Sun is critical at 0 Taurus, in the radix it is conjunct the Asc; both are general significators of life so it points to a critical event involving her life and home (as the Sun rules the radix 4th). In symbolic terms, the Sun is also the King and he has just 'set' in the profected chart and the Moon (a Queen) follows him.
• Saturn, who has the times, is changing degree. He's conjunct the profected 4th and as ruler of the 10th, symbolically he also represents the King (10th) coming to his lowest point (IC) while profected Saturn is conjunct the profected 5th (King's 8th). As well, Saturn is moving to conjunct the lot of Debilitated Bodies while the lot of Death (Bonatti calls it the lot of Inheritance) is changing degrees while trine radix Saturn and moving to trine radix Pluto and square the directed 3rd/9th house cusps (symbolically the houses of the Moon and Sun, goddess and god).
• The directed North Node is changing degree, moving to conjunct the IC, again, indicating a critical event connected to her family and career (nodal axis across 4th/10th) coming to a conclusion (4th).
• in the maiora esse Saturn is critical along with Neptune and Pluto. Saturn and Neptune are both in 0 degrees of cardinal signs indicating a new, critical event taking place while Pluto is at 29 Pisces; a critical ending. The 5th/11th and 2nd/8th house cusps are also critical, highlighting her hopes and inheritance; the 5th is what happens after the end of the matter, the 2nd is her income, which will no doubt increase
• and in the minora esse the MC, Sun, Moon and lot of Kingship are all critical with the MC and Sun (King) in 29 degrees of their signs and the Moon (Queen) and Kingship in the 0 degree of their signs

Interestingly the main directions appear to be about the King (Saturn) and his end with what happens to Victoria being incidental; Jupiter, the natural ruler of the profected Asc is cadent in the 3rd but will eventually be restored to his elevated place (being in the radix 10th). The profected directions are, symbolically, very apt.

Victoria's Coronation Ceremony took place on June 9, 1838; she was 19. The profection was in the 8th sign, Capricorn, with the profected Asc at 5 Capricorn 58. In the radix, Capricorn is on the 9th house of law, church, religion, rites; the ceremony took place at Westminster Abbey. Saturn, the Lord of the Year and the ruler of her radix 10th is in the profected 3rd of speeches, the press, propaganda. In the radix, Saturn is in the 11th of friends, hopes, parliament.

The 8th house is the house of death but also inheritance and in this year Victoria publicly and officially came into her inheritance.

The Age Arc was 19º 03'.

• the SAN (level of success in life) is critical at 29 Aries; she's effectively reached the highest rank one can reach in her society.
• The lot of Travel is changing degrees. The lot is not involved in a direction. A short trip did take place, Victoria had to travel by procession from Buckingham to Westminster Abbey and Saturn (LoY) is in the profected 3rd of short trips so its possibly indicating the circumstances surrounding the year's main event.
• The lot of Illness is also changing degree while it is square Saturn, LoY who is conjunct the North Node (critical event); perhaps she was anxious at the time. Directed Saturn himself was square the radix Moon while the directed Moon was sextile Jupiter. The procession to Westminster Abbey itself took an hour and half (10am until 11:30am) and she did not return to Buckingham Palace until 4pm.
• In the maiora esse, Saturn (LoY) was critical at 0 Aries and Neptune was critical at 29 Sagittarius trine the directed SAN. Neptune is in the radix 8th of inheritance; the profected 12th of anxiety, restrictions.
• In the minora esse, the 3rd is critical at 0 Leo; Leo is on the profected 8th, emphasizing inheritance.

Overall, the directions appear somewhat underwhelming given the public importance of the ceremony. One thing that is interesting; the profection was in Sagittarius when King William IV died and Victoria became Queen. Sagittarius falls on the 7th and the 8th so perhaps what happened in the 7th year profection could not fully complete until the 8th sign profection occurred. Similar situations exist with Gemini on the 1st & 2nd, Leo on the 4th & 5th, Aquarius on the 10th & 11th. Perhaps need to take a closer look at how events that occur in those profected years play out; is the first event the primary event and do they take a year or more to complete their effects?

Event: May 7-10, 1839 Crisis in Government

Later in the year, from May 7 to 10, 1939 she had to deal with a crisis in government; parliament suspended the Jamaican constitution over the planter's rebellion; they refused to free their slaves in accordance with the of 1833-34; and Melbourne resigned. Victoria asked Peel to form a new government; he demanded that she remove all ladies-in-waiting and replace them with women aligned with the Tories; Victoria refused. Peel then refused her and she had to ask Melbourne to come back, which he did.

The Age Arc at the time was 19º 58'.

• the directed lot of Debilitated Bodies is critical in Aquarius and the ruler of Aquarius, Saturn (LoY), is square the radix Sun; Saturn rules the radix 10th (government) and the crisis involved the disruption/failure of parliament
• the directed lot of the Critical Year is critical but not involved in any directions; however, the directed 12th is changing degree, moving to square the radix Moon which rules the radix lot of the Critical Year; it could be indicating difficulties involving women (there had been a scandal earlier in the year involving one of her ladies-in-waiting and the crisis of government was made worse by Peel demanding Victoria replace all her current ladies-in-waiting) and Uranus (planet of exposure, disruption) is changing degree and moving to trine the directed Moon
• the directed lot of Death is changing degree, moving to oppose directed Mercury (ruler of the radix Asc); the opposition is across the profected 10th/4th axis so it may possibly be indicating the end (4th) of the government (10th) given that the 8th, in mundane matters, can represent Cabinet
• the directed lot of Travel and the directed lot of Accusations are both changing degree but neither they nor their radix counterparts are involved in a directed aspect
• in the maiora esse both the Sun and the SAN are critical so her authority and status are involved/at stake in whatever occurs
• in the minora esse, Mercury, ruler of the radix Asc, is critical and passing through the profected 4th possibly indicating the need for her to personally bring about an end to the situation

Again, hindsight is 20/20 here; you would certainly need to know her position in life and what was going on around her at the time and even then, not sure it would lead anyone to predict a crisis in government; possibly problems (12th) with women (Moon) or could well have been difficulties with her mother (Moon, 10th) or difficulties with men in authority (Sun). Without knowing she was Queen it would be highly unlikely to equate 8th to cabinet, 10th to government.

The profection is in the 9th whole sign, Aquarius, with the profected Asc at 5 Aquarius 58. Saturn is posited in the profected 2nd and ruling the profected 1st and 12th. The 9th signifies the law, religion, rites. The 9th is often active when legal or religious marriages occur.

Event: October 15, 1839 – Victoria proposes to Albert
On October 15, 1839 Queen Victoria proposed to her cousin Albert who happily accepted. The Age Arc was 20º 24'.

• Dorotheus' lot of the Wedding, Women, was critical at 0 Aries. The lot is not involved in a directed aspect. I am not sure whether the North Node and lots can activate each other but here the directed North Node is conjunct directed Saturn (LoY) at 1 Pisces and moving to 0 Pisces where it will be in a mitigated (Aries and Pisces are equally ascending signs) conjunction with the Wedding lot.
• The directed 11th (hopes, wishes) is changing degrees, moving to conjunct her radix 10th (ruled by Saturn, LoY) and trine her radix Sun which rules the profected 7th of marriage.
• The directed lot of Fortune is changing degree, it is not involved in a directed aspect.
• The directed lot of Marriage Contracts is changing degree, moving from the sextile of radix Mars to conjunct Jupiter, general significator of Marriage and ruler of the radix 7th of marriage.
• In the maiora esse, Mars is critical; it can be a general significator of a husband, and rules the profected 10th (actions). The North Node is also critical.
• In the minora esse, the Ascendant is critical

Event: February 10, 1840 – Wedding Day
Victoria and Albert were married in St Jame's Chapel on February 10, 1940. The Age Arc was 20º 43'.

• Directed Saturn (LoY) was changing into a critical degree that was occupied by the directed North Node with both inconjunct Valen's lot of Marriage
• The directed Moon was changing degree, moving out of a square with the directed MC; possibly indicating a release of emotion (?)
• Al-biruni's directed lot of Marriage was also changing degree, moving out of a trine with the directed Sun and SAN.
• In the maiora esse, the 12th and Dorotheus' lot of Marriage were critical, as was Mercury, ruler of the radix Asc which was at the bendings, in square to the directed Nodal Axis
• In the minora esse, Mercury (ruler of the radix Asc) and Dorotheus' lot of Marriage were critical (they are conjunct in the radix and so move together in the minora)

The profection is in the 10th whole sign, Pisces which contains Pluto and Saturn (ruler of the profected 11th and 12th). Jupiter, lord of the year, rules the profected 1st and 10th, it is in the profected 12th.

On June 10, 1840 an attempt was made on her life by Edward Oxford, “a brainless potboy”, who fired two shots at her while she drove through Green Park on her way from Buckingham Palace to Hyde Park Corner; the boy was caught and declared insane. The incident increased Victoria's popularity. The Age Arc was 21º 03'.

• in the maiora esse, Saturn is critical at 0 AR, in a mitigated semi-sextile (conjunct) directed Saturn and square the radix lot of the Destroyer while Neptune is critical and in a mitigated sextile with the directed North Node
• in the minora esse there is nothing critical. The Asc is trine the radix lot of Death and in a mitigated inconjunct (conjunct) with the directed lot of Assassination; Jupiter (LoY) is square the directed lot of Enemies while conjunct the directed lot of Exaltation with both lots changing degree

Jupiter, the lord of the year, rules the radix 8th (death) and is in the profected 12th which points to the possibility of a brush with death during the year but Jupiter is only involved in changing, separating OA and minora (transit level) aspects with lots. Had Jupiter been angular in the profection and involved in hard aspects with the directed malefics she might not have survived the attempt on her life. In the end, the incident increased her popularity with the public, signified by the activation of the lots of Exaltation and Glory.

Event: November 21, 1840 Birth of her first daughter

On November 21, 1840 Victoria gave birth to her first child, a daughter, Victoria Adelaide Mary Louise. The profection is still in the 10th, the Age Arc is 21º 30'.

• the directed Asc was critical at 0 CA while conjunct Bonatus' radix lot of Children, Female and in a mitigated semi-sextile (conj) with the directed lot of Children in a Woman's Chart.
• directed Saturn is critical and trine the directed Olympiodorus lot of Children; Saturn rules the profected 12th which holds Jupiter (general significator of children) and LoY
• Bonatus' directed lot of Children, Female is changing degrees, moving to sextile the radix 12th
• the directed Sun is trine radix Uranus; the Sun rules the radix 5th
• in the maiora esse, the lot of Children in a Woman's Chart is critical
• in the minora esse, Saturn is critical along with the Dorothean lot of Children, Female (the two move together as both are 28º in the radix)

Keep forgetting to do this, but, the date falls in the profected 6th House which has Leo on the cusp; Leo covers the 4th (family) and 5th (children) in the radix. The Sun is in the 10th from the 6th (the birth was a public event).

The profection is in the 11th, Aries, with Mars in the profected 1st and also ruling the 8th indicating the possibility of events connected with violence (Mars), death (8th) or inheritance (8th) as well as confinement or enemies (radix Mars in and ruling 12th) and illness or injury (Mars co-rules radix 6th).

Event: November 9, 1841 Birth of her first son
On November 9, 1841 Victoria gave birth to her first son, Albert Edward, Prince of Wales. The Age Arc was 22º 28'.

• The directed 11th is critical at 0 Aquarius; in the radix Aquarius is on the 11th and it occupies the 11th in the profected chart with directed Saturn trine the directed lot of Children
• The directed 12th is critical and moving from 0 Pisces to 29 Aquarius; the radix 12th is in Aries which is on the profected 1st with directed Jupiter (general significator of children) in a mitigated semi-sextile (conjunct) the directed MC
• The directed lot of Children in a Woman's Chart is critical at 29 Cancer in the semi-sextile of radix Mercury (general significator of children)
• The directed lot of Fortune is critical at 0 Taurus with Venus trine the radix 3rd (in Cancer) which is on the profected 4th (family)
• Uranus is changing degree, moving to semi-sextile (mitigated by antiscion signs) the directed MC. Radix Uranus is in the 7th of marriage, profected 9th
• The directed Sun (ruler of the radix and profected 5th) is inconjunct (mitigated by antiscion) the radix lot of Children, Male while its directed counterpart is conjunct the profected 6th and square the radix Asc
• in the maiora esse, Jupiter (general significator of children) is critical and trine the directed lot of Children in a Woman's Chart while the maiora esse version of the same lot is is critical at 29 Leo with Leo being the sign on the radix and profected 5th

There are also a number of directions involving the lots of Children, Female; directed Mars (LoY) is conjunct a directed one of them at 6 Pisces and directed Saturn is sextile the radix version of the same lot. Perhaps the fact that two male planets and more male than female signs are involved hints at the birth of a boy over a female?

Event: April 30, 1942 2nd Assassination Attempt
On April 30, 1842 a second assassination attempt was made, again in Green Park. John Francis, a destitute carpenter was caught and condemned to death, the sentence was later commuted to transportation; Albert had noticed the man the day before while they were out riding, the palace security were watching for him when he made the attempt the next day. The Age Arc was 22º 56'.

• The directed 11th is critical at 0 AQ with directed Saturn trine the radix lot of Enemies while the directed Asc has moved to sextile the same lot which itself is moving into a critical degree by direction. The directed Asc is also moving from a trine of radix Neptune (in the 8th) and mitigated semi-sextile with radix Pluto (in the radix 11th) to a conjunction of radix Venus (in the 12th). The directed 12th is also critical, at 29 AQ, connecting the 11th and the 12th with the year in the 11th; so a mixed (fortunate/unfortunate) event is indicated.
• The directed Moon is changing degree, moving away from a conjunction with the radix 12th into a sextile with the directed lot of the Destroyer which itself is moving to conjunct the radix Asc.
• Directed Neptune (an 8th house planet) is changing degree, moving out of a trine with radix Mars, LoY, who, by direction, is conjunct the profected 12th; it is also the ruler of directed Fortune which is also critical at 29 AR.
• Directed Jupiter at 10 AQ is in a mitigated semi-sextile (conjunct) the directed MC (10 CP)
• In the maiora esse, the MC is critical at 0 PI, trine the radix lot of the Destroyer while the maiora esse Sun (general significator of the husband) is conjunct the lot and the maiora esse SAN is critical at 29 GE
• In the minora esse, Mars (LoY) is conjunct radix Saturn while minora esse Jupiter is in a mitigated semi-sextile (conjunct) directed Saturn; Saturn rules the directed MC which is also in a mitigated semi-sextile with Jupiter

Jupiter and the Sun (as her husband), along with the separating aspects involving the Moon (body) and Neptune (dissolution), appear to have acted to reduce the harm (Saturn, lot of Enemies and Destroyer) that threatened her life.

The profection is in the 12th whole sign, Taurus, with Venus in the profected 12th (enemies, isolation) and also ruling the profected 6th (illness, injury).

Event: July 3, 1842 - 3rd Assassination Attempt

On July 3, 1842 a 3rd assassination attempt was made while Victoria was driving on the Mall with King Leopold; John William Bean “a crippled lad” as he did no real harm, was sentenced to 18 months prison time. The Age Arc was 23º 07'.

• the directed 11th is critical at 0 AQ with directed Mercury sextile at 0 AR while sextile the directed lot of Enemies at 0 GE. Radix Mercury is in the profected 1st conjunct the Asc
• the directed 12th is critical at 29 AQ moving to 28 AQ where it will be conjunct the lot of Travel and in the semi-sextile of radix Saturn
• the directed Asc is conjunct radix Venus (LoY), in the profected 12th and ruling the profected 1st (person) and 6th (injury)
• the directed MC is in a mitigated semi-sextile (conjunction) with directed Jupiter, ruler of the profected 8th in the profected 10th and in a mitigated sextile (trine) directed Neptune (an 8th house planet)
• the directed Sun, in the profected 1st, is square the directed lot of Assassination
• in the maiora esse, the lots of Assassination, Enmity, and Enemies were all critical along with the directed 11th and 8th and the planets Venus (ruler of the profected 1st and 6th) and Pluto (drastic action)
• nothing is critical in the minora esse, minora Saturn is conjunct radix Mercury (ruler of the radix Asc) while the minora North Node is in a mitigated sextile (trine) with radix Saturn

There are no hard aspects involved which is probably why no real harm was done to her.

On August 29, 1842 Victoria made her first visit Scotland, travelling by rail and yacht. The profection was still in the 12th whole sign with Venus ruling. The Age Arc was 23º 16'.

• the directed 11th was critical 29 CP with Saturn changing degrees, moving from a conjunction with the radix 11th, a semi-sextile of Pluto and mitigated sextile (trine) with Neptune into a sextile with Venus (LoY). The directed 11th/5th falls across the profected 9th/3rd (travel)
• directed Mercury (ruler of the radix Asc) is critical a 0 AR but not involved in a directed aspect
• the directed North Node is changing degree but it is not involved in a directed aspect
• the lot of Fortune is moving out of a critical degree
• in the maiora esse, both the lots of travel are critical with the lot of Travel square the directed 11th/5th axis which is across the profected 9th/3rd. The maiora Asc is square directed Venus (LoY) while the maiora MC is conjunct directed Jupiter
• in the minora esse, Uranus is critical and conjunct directed Mercury (travel and ruler of the radix Asc). The journey was somewhat unusual as it involved rail travel, new for the time; that it did not always go smoothly is possibly indicated by the square in the maiora esse

Event: April 25, 1943-Birth of Princess Alice
On April 24, 1943 Victoria gave birth to a daughter, Princess Alice. The profection was still in the 12th sign. The Age Arc was 23º 55'.

• the directed 11th was still critical at 29 CP. The radix 11th is in Aquarius on the profected 10th with directed Saturn not changing degree but sextile Venus (LoY) who is changing degree but not involved in a directed aspect
• directed Mercury (ruler of the profected 5th, children) is critical and changing degree, moving to conjunct radix Saturn (ruler of the directed 11th)
• the directed Sun, ruler of the radix 5th (children) and 4th (end of matter, family) is changing degree, moving to conjunct radix Mars in the 12th of confinement and square the radix lot of Children while directed Mars is changing degree, moving to square the directed lot of Children, female
• in the maiora esse, the 12th, Sun, and SAN are all critical with the Asc at 3 CA trine the lot of Children, female
• in the minora esse, Uranus is critical in trine to directed Mercury (children) and sextile the directed 11th while Venus (LoY) is sextile the directed Sun and Pluto conjuncts directed Mars

The profection is in the 1st sign, Gemini, with Mercury in the 12th and also ruling the 4th.

Event: September 2, 1843 – Travels to France
On September 9, 1844 Victoria visited King Louis Philippe in France and was met with great pomp and ceremony. The Age Arc was 24º 17'.

• directed Pluto was critical at 0 AR, he's in the profected 10th (status) with Saturn (visit for state reasons?)
• the directed 3rd (travel) is changing degree, it's in Cancer in the radix which is on the profected 2nd (income/expense?) with the directed Moon square the directed lot of Kingship
• the directed N. Node is changing degree, moving from the sextile of radix Uranus
• the directed lot of Exaltation is conjunct the radix 11th (parliament)
• in the maiora esse, the lots of Travel and Journeys are critical and in the minora esse the N. Node is critical (an important journey?)

A state visit (10th, 11th) arranged by parliament to increase (Exaltation) her status?
