thanks for going to all this trouble and outlining how you would process this.. it reminds me of how much i believe astrology is more of an art then a science... i make a lot of parallels with astrology and music.. musicians take all the different elements of music and process them all very differently to come up with a very unique and individualistic creation based on the basic building blocks of music.. sure, there is a lot of imitation and regurgitating of previous musicians work that has happened in the past, and yet it is not only this..

you put much more emphasis on houses then i do... i think they are important, but they are also one of the more contentious elements to astrology... but it is how we emphasize these different astrological elements - planets, signs, houses, aspects - in how we arrive at a particular viewpoint which is unique to us... this is also why i am prone to stating the obvious - so much of what i see in astrology is ''hindsight'' astrology, as opposed to predictive astrology as one example.. we learn from examing charts and going over the past and trying to find the astrological connections between the past and the chart under consideration... the past and history can be processed and told very differently too, depending on who is doing the telling..

one idea i got from valens which i found helpful is considering the part of fortune and the placement of planets in relation to the pof... in assanges chart - he is born on a waxing moon phase in the form of a trine.. this shows up as a pof in the 5th house trine his jupiter and mercury.. jupiter would be in the 9th house of the pof, and mercury in the 5th... i suppose the ascendant is also in the 9th to the pof too, depending how house systems again.... i do find julians work - the philosophical and creative part of it - is captured by these placements of jupiter and mercury... whether he had to suffer as he has from it - it is the world we live in at present and it is up to us to change it.. thanks for sharing your approach here with regard to jupiter and all else - i appreciate it..

Hi James ... yes, in a lot of ways its like music; same scale in minors and majors writing preludes, sonatas, symphonies, jazz, rock, folk, hip hop, rap, and who knows what else. I often think of it being like numbers, 2+2 gives 4 whether your counting in decimal, binary, octal, hexadecimal, etc numbers. Or like painting or drawing, give the same set of paints, pens or pencils to 10 people and ask them to draw a daisy and you'll get 10 slightly different daisies with maybe a few that look nothing like a daisy at all because the person really wanted to draw a peony or a pansy or a sunflower. In any field, I guess, the basic skills that need to be developed are essentially the same, its the applications that are different.

Hindsight is 20/20; what's always driven my curiosity is how to turn that into usable foresight which is probably why I'm more event oriented, I want to 'see' what life may throw at me; I have other ways to know who and what I am, never been much interested in character readings or the psychology side of things although I understand for many that is much more important than predicting events.

It is interesting to talk about different approaches; helps to bring one's thinking into focus. It's truly amazing how varied the universe is, see no reason why astrology, or any field of study, should be homogeneous. At least most agree on the basic nature of the planets and signs and even if there is disagreement on where those signs or houses begin and end, once established within a system their meanings tend to agree; across systems, just like the laws of gravity being the same everywhere but varies in intensity based on the size of the objects involved or the speed of light being the same throughout the universe but varies based on the medium its passing through.
