That is interesting Ea. Without detracting from the value of what you say, I?m more inclined to Tom?s argument that the querent wasn?t asking a ?when will this happen?? question, but a ?will I succeed within the boundaries I?ve set?? type of question.

Here?s another slant on the chart: traditionally, intellectual societies are governed by the 9th house, which makes sense of the Moon?s location on the 9th house cusp. The Moon is also applying to the trine of the ascendant, bringing favours to the querent from such concerns. There are just less than 7 degrees in this application so this may have some relevance to the timing of his news, but since the querent has established the time limit himself I don?t see this as the big issue, and as Tom says, part of this judgement is about establishing whether what the querent has already done is enough to guarantee success.

I would also agree with Tom that although the 9th house is relevant, we can?t ignore the 10th house - especially if, as it seems to me, the querent is interested in the acknowledgement of his abilities and the honour of being admitted, rather than active involvement in the society. So I go along with the earlier points made about Mercury cazimi and the Sun in the 10th ? the chart does seem to be quite strong in showing that he gets acknowledgement for his intellectual abilities.

Thanks for this information. I didn't know that intellectual societies were governed by the 9th house. This makes my take redundant, of course.
And I certainly agree with Tom that it as a question of honor and therefore his viewpoint is obviously correct.

But I'm still of the opinion that the timeframe should show as it was mentioned in the question, so I'm pleased that you observed the Moon's aspect to the ascendant.
This is of course only my personal opinion and if others see it differently, there is no problem for me.

I didn't either, but that's what I love best about traditional astrology, if we take the time to think it through (obviously I didn't), the answer is right there for us. The 9th is "higher mind", well where else would a group of intellectuals meet other thanthe house of the higher mind?
