I joined in this forum ages ago but other things got in the way and I've been away for a while ? now with a new PSU the PC is running again (freedom!)?
Labalance ? you are interested in Lottery winning? I did some empirical research into that myself ? inspired through a little book from the mid 70's called 'Speculation for astrologers' ? or something like that? The basic concept that the book concluded with ? was ? "its not the numbers you choose ? it is the time that you buy your ticket?" You wait until the moment when Mercury makes that conjunction to your 2nd cusp ? or joins the Sun in your 8th, or squares Jupiter in the 5th ? etc? etc? The group that wrote the book defined that not all charts have potential ? but those that do ? will more often than not act by transits of squares, oppositions and conjunctions in that order ? and not through trines and sextiles. We are talking very close to the exact orb ? when the transiting planet (whatever it is) makes the applying exact angle ? to the minute of the degree ? that precise second of time (? it may be 12.54pm and 42 seconds for example).
Some folks will want to define the 'ruler of this house', whether 'a planet is dignified', 'void of course', whether the natals 'are afflicted' in this area etc?etc? and maybe there is due cause ? but to the writers of this little book and to me - through my own study ? it is just a numbers game only. If there are planets occupying the 2nd, 5th or 8th and ideally if they are strongly angled with a square or conjunction ? then whenever other planets apply to them with the aspects listed above ? and a ticket is bought for that moment ? then you may win? When you miss the time ? and even by seconds or a minute or two ? the purchase of a ticket is wasted.
I won several 'scratchcard games' when I played with this timing ? mainly because the 'lottery outlets' were closed during the times I wanted to buy my tickets; so I took the next best alternative to hand? scratchcards. The best I think I had was a ?40 and a ?50 in the same week (dictated by times) ? it was more fun than a serious trial study. In the end I was easily several hundred % up. I also deliberately set up a little lottery syndicate at work with 9 other people ? I chose a nice Mercury Uranus conjunction in the available second house to decide the time at which we all signed a contract? I then chose the moments that we'd buy a ticket? we won four weeks in a row. Then one member left the company ? and we never won again. A new member joined in his place ? but it simply wasn't the same? if you take a segment of an orange out and put a cut of apple in its place ? it is no longer an orange?

Give it a go ? just for fun and see what happens!

Labalance wrote:STJ has that borne out in charts you've looked at? Because that seems to contradict the idea of exaltation.
I think STJ is getting confused with Vedic system of aspects(sign is house)- where Jupiter aspects 5th, 7th and 9th houses from its radical place. All aspects of benefics are beneficial and that of natural malefics- harmful.

The extension of this is that jupiter in Vedic chart -in Capricorn would be aspecting cancer- its exaltation sign- and so would be beneficial.

There is some mention that if a natural significator of that house- eg Venus in 7th is alone -then that is harmful to that house.

In this particular case- it is not a question of mixing Art and discretion but not getting the two arts mixed up :)
