Le Havre (2. in French 2.division) spoilt my Friday evening by starting their game against Libourne (2. but last in the same division) with an own goal. Default did not work.

The game started on the Day and Hour of Venus. The chart is not radical and the lady of the hour has her fall on the sign on the ascendant. So in this instance the contest moved away from the favourite and we got a draw.

Wigan at home but Everton favorites. The colours don't help much. Gemini/mercury/aquarius is stripes/white/blue??? Everton are likely to be in White and Black, which I don't see in Sag/Jupiter/Capr.

If it is unclear do the favourites or the home team get the ascendant?

The Lady of the hour, Venus, does not relate to the powers of the ascendant or it's lord, but does aspect the ascendant by opposition, which I interpret to mean that the favourite may prevail but with difficulty.

Everton is favourite by odds. I think I would have to give Everton the ascendant. I think it might be explained by the chart being saved by the opposition aspect.

John does make an excellent point by observing the reception between Venus and the Sun by triplicity. Venus sits on an angle and in reception with L4 this could be enough to bring about the draw result. But my opinion is that a planet essentially dignified, or in reception, by term is more efficient in the effect of carrying out his business, in this instance - than a planet dignified, or in reception, by triplicity. The triplicity serves better as a communicator, as agent for getting things around or making sure that things are sponsored, rather than that person being efficient on the ground level, or in the pit, as it were.

The fact that Mercury sits on the MC and is mr L10 is much more convincing and in advantage of the team signified by the ascendant. The Part of Fortune is sextile the Sun and this is another strong testimony for the favourite.

Still finding John's interpretation fascinating, I find the draw an interesting option - but my money is likely to go on Everton.

A few more reflections what happened in yesterdays matches. I found myself waking up in bed thinking the matter over. The charts are virtually the same, but we have different results. What is the difference?

Well, in the first match Le Havre are favourites by default and Libourne are the unmistakable underdog. Le Havre score both the goals and the result is moved one step away from the favourite. I had money on Le Havre winning, but the match ended a draw. Now in the Hartlepool match I was asking whether the match would draw, but I never bucked it. The game ended with an away win, which is one step further away from the favourite. In this game Hartelpool is favourite by odds, but not by default (!!). Cheltenham are still the underdog, but more on an even stake since both teams are on the bottom half of the table. Cheltenham score both the goals!

There is a qualitive difference between the two contests and I thought it was important to make this point.

Andrew, did you have a single bet on all those favourites winning? Following the draw on the first match do you bet again or call it quits?

I'm reluctant yet to get involved in different games at the same time, as they seem to have too similar charts. The next stage on identifying whether a group of matches at the same time is likely to throw up an obscure result or whether they should go according to expectations seems to be a half way house, but again I'm having enough trouble with one off matches presently!

If anyone is a glutton for punishment, the African Cup of Nations is due to start!!!

John, combinations involving 2-3 games tend get on alright. With 4-5 games there is a larger likelihood of one game going the wrong way (i.e. the draw...) and mucking up a good days work.

Like today Wrexham - MK Dons 1-0. The table looser beats the table top!
That is a double default failure! How does this occur? MK Dons are away ahead at the top, but Wrexham is at a Derby bottom. This ruined a potential combination of 5 games with the odds 6.76:1 but I did cash in on a combination of 4 games for 4.17:1

Asc 19LE04, Moon 20GE52, is L12, applies exact trine Neptune 20AQ53 on the 7th through signs of short ascension. The dexter trine from Gemini to Aquarius through signs of short ascension, from L12 to the 7th, smacks of fraud.

Conglatulations Andrew, JF's method doesn't seem to be as effective as yours. Maybe it was also something to do with the Moon closely applying to both MC and IC rulers. A similar case with ManCity/Wigan tomorrow(Moon applying to Jupiter and Satrun), with both teams no clear testimonies, so a draw is again likely.

As for Wigan/Everton, it looks Wigan(Mercury) is placed in a better position but Mercury has begun to slow down a little. What is striking in the chart is Venus and Mars oppostion on the angles. They don't rule the angles but this again looks balanced out...

Gem, I agree with you that ManC/W Ham will be a draw for the reason you gave. One aspect each so I've gone for 1-1.

I'll be away for a couple of days, so I just want quickly to mention the Liverpool/Villa game on Monday. Moon is VOC which often indicates a draw, but I think PoF conj NN will give Liverpool the win, 1-0.

I have actually bucked WestHam in Sundays game. Whether I get it right - time will show.

ManC are favourites by odds, playing at home. The game starts in the hour of Saturn and there is yet an example of the chart not being radical. Saturn holds no dignities in the radical ascendant. Cancer on the asc is the sign of his fall. This I judge to move the result away from the favourites.

Venus, who is square the MC, has dignities on the cusp of the 7th by triplicity - and gives the guest some shine. The Moon, L1, will oppose Jupiter, L10, before making her sinister sextile though signs of long ascension to Saturn, L7. The sinister aspect favours the underdog (my theory: the sinister aspect brings more about an element of suprize or the unexpected) and the aspect through signs of long ascension makes L1 week in her translation to L7. Mercury corrupts the Moon, so Saturn in Virgo will require sacrifice from the Moon in Cancer.

Jupiter, L10, is cadent, but the trine to Saturn, L7, who is both his dispositor and Lord of the hour.

Testimonies are unconvincing, but the game starts in the hour of the Sun so with Leo rising I go with the favourite, Exeter. The Sun being lord of the hour and of the asc is within 5 degrees of POF/POS.

In the game Lens - Lyon I go with the favourite, Lyon. This game starts in the hour of Mercury with Virgo on the ascendant. POF/POS is within 1 degree of the North Node. The Moon opposes Jupiter, L7. I give Lyon the ascendant. L1 and Lord of hour, Mercury, is trine MC.
