by ### Olivia, I was hearing Neptune experience in your posts, and there it is ? Sun opposed Neptune. Things slip away with Neptune; or we believe they are slipping away; or we worry that they will slip away. With Neptune we can often make things bigger than they are. We can throw in the Moon's nodes for extra measure, but I'm still not sure what to do with them. Quote Sun Jan 25, 2009 12:34 am
by Olivia I don't do modern astrology in the sense of rulerships but I don't deny that the outer planets are there. But if I had to ditch something it would be the outers. Still and all - that Sun +SN/Neptune + NN opposition is probably the biggest testimony to my legendary sensitivity to anaesthesia and lots of drugs, and as for the Moon's nodes - don't even get me started, I'd be going on for pages. Interestingly, progressed Moon is hitting my Mars-ruled IC exactly today and T-Moon and T-Mars are wreaking a bit of havoc with natal Moon and Mars as well. Of course if we come round to Neptune again, its current transit puts it right on top of my natal Mars, and therefore into that sextile-o-three of Jupiter-Saturn-Mars. Ooh, and it's squaring Fortuna, too. I'd ask could the finances get any worse, but I know the answer to that question only too well. If I were the praying type, that's what I'd be doing about now. Blech. Don't mind my mood, folks, please - it's just been one of those weeks. Quote Sun Jan 25, 2009 1:19 am
by Darlene3 Hi Olivia, I appreciate your sharing your chart and Jupiter effects with us, very informative ? and I hope things improve soon! Part of the explanation of your Jupiter can be attributed to its opposition to the Sun within 4 degree orb. My understanding is that a planet within 7 ? degrees on either side of the Sun by opposition is referred to as ?in curtailed passage?. It is a debility something akin to combustion due to its invisibility. Hopefully, someone who knows more can expand on the effects of the curtailed passage condition. In addition, judging from the position of the nodes, your pre-natal lunation was a solar eclipse on the south node less than 48 hours before you were born. The eclipse intensifies the whole Jupiter rx opposition configuration. Your chart did not give a date, so I am including the NASA Eclipse Web Site link for you if case you want to look it up for yourself and find the exact degree of the eclipse. http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse.html Because Jupiter is Lord of the Ascendant it represents you, thus you are seeing the effects of its combined retrograde, curtailed passage and pre-natal eclipsed condition. I found your description very perceptive. Jupiter has dignity by participating triplicity, and is close to the fortunate star Spica and, as you said, generosity with Venus, so all is not lost. Best wishes, Darlene Quote Sun Jan 25, 2009 3:51 am
by Olivia Hi Darlene - I'm probably the resident expert on being born under a solar eclipse - I know! The one thing I'm grateful for is that Mars isn't in that place where Jupiter is - don't even want to think about a chart like that. But you're right about the curtailed passage, much as it pains me to give out-of-sign aspects - when an opposition is that close, you have to - wouldn't make sense otherwise, regardless which side of the sign-line it falls on. Thanks much for adding your insight - Liv Quote Sun Jan 25, 2009 5:35 am
by yuzuru Hmmm, I missed the opposition to the sun completely. 7 ? degrees on either side of the Sun by opposition is referred to as ?in curtailed passage?. It is a debility something akin to combustion due to its invisibility Just a note: when the planet is opposite the sun, they are in their most visible point. When they are combusted, they are invisible. Just like the new and full moon But as the aspect is separating, and it is out of sign, I would consider that its worse influence is not present. 19 by ### I don't do modern astrology in the sense of rulerships but I don't deny that the outer planets are there. But if I had to ditch something it would be the outers. I shortened my previous post a little bit. I had mentioned (and deleted) that I had been ignoring Neptune for a while (some years), but I've recently come back to it. Tight Neptune configurations have a lot to offer. But no way in heck will I reconsider giving the rulership of Pisces to Neptune. Pisces belongs to Jupiter. We can look at the out-of-sign and mutually separating (Jupiter Rx) Sun-Jupiter opposition with its orb of more than 4 degrees (is it truly an opposition anymore?), or we can look at the rather tight and mutually applying (Neptune Rx) in-sign Sun-Neptune opposition. Those who want so hard to believe in the superiority of astrology before the outer planets may try to milk something out of that very unexciting and quickly fading Sun-Jupiter opposition ( ), but the action is in those early Taurus-Scorpio degrees. And to be blunt and honest (oh well), Neptune can be a good indicator of ourselves telling the world about how our lives suck and how bad things happen to us. I heard Neptune initially, and I still hear it. Sorry. Quote Sun Jan 25, 2009 12:04 pm
by Olivia That's really interesting, Kirk. Myself - I've found afflicted Neptune in mute signs to be rather quiet, if anything, sometimes indicative of a speech impediment - if it's even Neptune - jury's still out. But I shall bear your observations in mind. I also offer my apologies for using the forum as a place to spill my woes for the past four months. It won't happen again. Thanks - Liv Quote Sun Jan 25, 2009 4:49 pm

by Darlene3 Hi Yuzuru Just a note: when the planet is opposite the sun, they are in their most visible point. When they are combusted, they are invisible. Just like the new and full moon Good point. It is perplexing that just when a planet?s visibility increases (brightens when rx) it has this brief sojourn where it is both more visible and less, all in the same day. I should clarify ?curtailed passage? in case anyone is wondering. The ancients refer to a period of curtailed visibility because, due to twilight conditions, when in opposition to the Sun (they use 7 1/2 degrees) the superior planets, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, cannot be seen touching the horizon when rising or setting. Hi Liv, The one thing I'm grateful for is that Mars isn't in that place where Jupiter is - don't even want to think about a chart like that I was thinking the exact same thing. I was also thinking it is good that Jupiter is in a humane sign. Graceful under fire? Literally, solar opposition fire. IOW, if it were in a bestial sign it could bring a whole different set of challenges. On another note, an up note for the separating aspects - the Mercury opp also separates. Absolutely no need to apologize, you were asked to post your chart and share Jupiter 'misfortunes', per ancientstars' tthread topic Kirk likes to come across as derisive, which is why I just ignore him. Did you read my previous post where I wrote: ?This is a great place to tell of our troubles and have some useful discussion at the same time?? I had used some bluntness to counter the elusive mental loops of the well-known feelings of victimization that Neptune can indicate (?And to be blunt and honest ...?). Maybe I was too tactless or maybe I was just plain ol' wrong, but I certainly didn't do it to satisfy some sort of 'like'. Quote Sun Jan 25, 2009 11:00 pm
by Yuriy I think if Jupiter is peregrine in sign and it?s dispositor is a strong Saturn or Mars, than transit of the malefics to Jupiter could trigger the bad things. Quote Thu Jan 29, 2009 12:34 am
