Or possibly SRs, whatever other predictive techniques for the natal chart and horary?

Eddy, let's hope I get well enough to get out and about soon cos Jupiter and Venus are in about 15 kinds of generosity in my natal including each other's rulerships and Venus is exalted, and T-Jupiter is going to conjunct natal Venus in mid-March. Course my SR Saturn is sitting in 7, and it all profects to the 12th, but....

I'll keep you posted. Hopefully I'll be able to scrape together money for a lottery ticket, too :)

I seriously doubt anything good will come of it, though.

You should see my next year Sr + Proffections + Progressions + Directions situation! I think I just might start "complaining" in that topic that you opened some time ago.

But first, I have to welcome Jupiter in my 7th and in its domicile, transitional jupiter though! :)

Oh, and BTW, Maxz, keep your eyes open for beneficial aspects of your Ascendant to Venus and Sun (well, don't forget the Moon either), both in progressions and directions or whichever you use. Well, keep your eyes open even for stressful aspects. ;-)

Hmm...my ascendant went into a term of Venus a few months ago after years of Mercury (boo! hiss! I have a peregrine, retrograde, combust, badly aspected Mercury).

And I'm in a Venus-Moon firdar....

We shall see.

Maxz, do you look at term direction by ascendant and firdar just for a general life indication? The term of the ascendant changing does seem to really show up in my life, one way or another.

This is getting to be such a helpful post so thanks to everyone. I can't possibly reply to every important point in your posts, because they're all great, but for a first step, can anyone instruct me as to what I do after getting SR and profection data on my natal? I have both natal and SR chart and have them side by side comparing. But I don't know how exactly to find indications that love is on its way. :) Thanks,

Supposedly profections are helpful in conjunction with the SR and transits (and of course the natal info). I don't know much about profection and I get conflicting info. Can others show examples of profection info for this subject matter (using a person's chart, etc.). Do you change the ASC and all of the planets with your profection methods, or just the ASC (the angles)? I have heard that some only use whole signs for each yr period, so each yr the entire chart moves by one sign but the planets remain the same, while others have said that both the angles and planets move (do they move by degrees or just by sign?).

I tried to make sense of Lilly (book III) on profections, and it's just not worded well. Clearly he moves things arond more so than yearly. It seems he does move the planets as well as the angles. So is this 2.5 degrees per month (30 degrees per yr)?

Obviously you always keep in mind the natal rulers, so they will be important. Say your natal 7th ruler is Venus and a profected Venus is coming to the 7th house (of the profected chart, natal or SR?) - does this suggest a relationship is coming? I tend to learn via example rather than abstract concepts. Thanks to any who might help and I am sure Maxz would be interested in this as well.

My best friend married (for the first and only time so far) in early March of 2007. The location was different than her birth place:

Natal Pisces rising (inside) and Solar (outside)
Image
She moved across the country with her son to marry a foreigner, who I would say she did not know very well. She has both the malefics in her 7th and he is a Venus-Saturn square. Their marriage has been strained, almost leading to divorce a yr or so after when transit Saturn conjunct her natal Saturn and transit Uranus opposed, but they both care about each other.

She was age 27. So is her profected ASC Gemini (27 signs from the ASC of Pisces)? That would be her natal 4th house. Mercury rules her 7th house in natal, and her profected ASC has the same ruler as her natal 7th house. If you move the 7th ruler 27 signs, it is in Aries, which is her natal 2nd, so that doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Are marriage events generally more significant than first meetings, astrologically speaking?

Some interps:

My best friend entered a Mercury firdaria at age 19, and it rules her 7th. That was around when she became more intent on marriage and settling down. She married during a Mercury-Mars firdaria. In the interp link I posted they say of Mercury-Mars:
It is time to pursue your own career path, move out on your own, travel, start your own family or business or any other venture that propels you into new fields.

She did move far away from her family, and she is very family oriented. She is from Mexico, where women often live at home with their parents until they wed. She moved out with me in 2005 for the first time in her life (Mercury-Jupiter phase), then moved across country and started a true family with her husband officially in 2007.

I was in school my entire Mercury firdar.

Everything is involved in the profecting, and things in certain houses can be said to be taking over from others (at least according to the methods of vetius valens). I keep meaning to send you the info on this, if I remember tonight then I'll upload the PDFs I have and send them to you.

Re: Love/relationship identifiers

Maxz wrote:I am reading different methods of finding love relationships and/or marriage in a natal chart. I can't seem to find a very reliable method that works for me. I can see job and work-related indicators, but not love.

I would appreciate guidance pointing me in the right direction about finding a good reliable method to look for mutual love relationships in my chart. Thank you.
Maxz I think the most important thing to recognise is that marriage is a choice. It is not that everyone gets married nor is it that everyone actually wants to get married. For that reason I do not think marriage is ever seen in a natal chart nor in any transit. If however, you are someone who is interested in marriage, then the next question is why. It might seem simple or absurd but actually people marry for all kinds of different reasons, some marry for security, some for love, some because it's what's expected of them. All these things might determine what kinds of planets you should be considering.

Contrary to perhaps what might be the popular notion people don't tend to marry under Venus influences, but instead under Saturn ones - in my opinion it's because marriage involves a sense of 'growing up' and commitment and seriousness (whereas Venus might be more about pleasures etc).

I know it might seem stereotypical, but I've also noticed that those with lots of Libra (particularly women) and Capricorn (particularly men) in the chart (particularly those with sun, moon or mars there) seem to weigh up potential love interests in terms of marriage material - whereas others might be more interested in falling in love with the individual and then issues of marriage come up later. I offer no rationale as to why this might be, just something I've observed.

In terms of falling in love, I really don't think we'll find much by looking at transits of Venus, if for no other reason than that Venus makes a full circuit of the zodiac roughly every year and so will make every aspect to every planet and travel through every house every single year. Unless venus is of particular prominence during that period, (such as because of profections, firdaria or secondary progressions or solar arc direction) then I doubt it will indicate falling in love. Plus my attitude is that we have a personal relationship with each planet, so it would depend on your attitude to venus how your venus transits will 'behave' for you. For example, I mentioned this recently already on another post and on another website, but I have Venus in a house which is in aversion to the ascendant and is tightly aspected by Pluto. Venus transits (especially those lately that I've noticed) don't seem to be offering me anything but melancholy and falling sick. Definite key dates for this were found on the days that venus makes a partile aspect to its natal position and to planets in my natal chart. Just recently it formed a quincunx and a similar feeling emerged - though weaker. In my opinion the quincunx is probably around the same strength as a sextile - I don't use every minor aspect, but the quincunx is probably the one that I do use because of no other reason than that empirically I've observed it to be relevant.

In other words, I don't think there is a 'time to get married' transit or anything else. It all depends on the individual and what is going on natally and all the rest. But I prefer empirical about things like this, we should definitely read all the theory but ultimately the more observe those around you and what is going on in their chart the more likely you are to learn from them. Plus I think that very often the effect, if any, is seen around the time that there is a proposal rather than the date then later set for the wedding (unless of course an astrologer is electing your wedding!).

Hi, Tanit

It is important to note that firdaria.com calculates the firdaria order incorrectly for night births. They are following the method of Bonatti, but now we have the original work of Abu Mashar, and we know that Bonatti mistranslated his work.

In Janus you can set the parameters to "al-biruni"

Profections are to be used in conjunction with Solar Revolution. None of them were ever created to be "stand alone" techniques. Profection of hylegical points and arabic parts will give the topic, the ruler of profection will activate some natal potencial, which will be modified, amplified or negated on the solar return.
