13 by Atlantean Hello, Something that caught my attention was that the Earthquake happened on a day with both Saturn-Pluto and Saturn-Node parans, with the Saturn-Node paran timing the quake, basically. (Additionally, the orbs of the two parans were both 0? 42') Thanks Andrew for the additional information. It's all very interesting and since we are always talking the potential loss of life with Earthquakes, they are ever a justified area of astrological exploration. Being uncertain on this at present my best guess would be directing a point from somewhere in Sagittarius (Chile) and 45 degrees ahead into either the next sign Capricorn, or to the first half of Capricorn. Nations under the rulership of either Capricorn or Aquarius could be vulnerable for such a shake-up. This argument would be strengthened if there was some lunation or other local phenomena going on in that area at that point in time. Another option would be if Haiti was ruled by Sagittarius. Chile is Sagittarius, according to Rex E. Bills. In the Astro*Cartography chart for the 15 January Solar Eclipse Jupiter was on the lower meridian of both Haiti and Chile, in which case Sagittarius and Jupiter are the target. In many of my observations and thoughts around earthquakes the fixed star Vindemiatrix at 9 Libra has had a special meaning: The star of widdowhood, fatal relationships, the capsizing of a balance, worlds in collision, tremendous energy releases. Close to the midpoint of these two earthquakes came the abduction of the woman in Norway. The Moon was 9 Libra at the time and the woman had a Pakistani origin, also ruled by Sagittarius - according to Bills. Pluto in the ascendant was square Saturn in this chart. I believe there is a relationship between the tensions in nature and tension in the affairs of Mankind. It is like being sensitive to weather, only in a larger scale. I see environment as an extension of self. By reading the outer world, a person has a measure of issues and tensions that need to be prosessed within. From this source comes an understanding of omens, where the challange is to be prepared, make the right decisions and follow the right course of actions. On my part this is meant as a tool or expansion of consciousness. http://www.astronor.com Quote Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:26 am
15 by Andrew Bevan I would also point out that while the Haiti earthquake occured 18N27, 72W27, the Chile quake occured 35S50, 72W43. This is not only interesting in terms of longitude, where both quakes occur on the same meridian, but also in terms of latitude: The earthquake in Chile occurs at twice the distance from the equator as in comparison with the Haiti quake. It is quite stunning when you look at it. 18, 36, 72. Last edited by Andrew Bevan on Wed Mar 03, 2010 8:31 am, edited 1 time in total. http://www.astronor.com Quote Sun Feb 28, 2010 8:43 am

(Additionally, the orbs of the two parans were both 0? 42') There indeed was a Saturn-Node Paran with Saturn culminating with a Local Sidereal Time (L.S.T.) of 12:15:03 and the Nodes Rising/Stetting with a L.S.T. of 12:19:30. And a Saturn-Pluto Paran with Saturn Rising with a L.S.T. of 6:18:16 and Pluto IC 6:21:05. Allow eight minutes of L.S.T. (time orb) to define a Paran. A culminating Saturn in zodiacal square aspect with Pluto is a very potent configuration in any Map and is very apt symbolism for an earthquake or for shaking-up anyone?s relative environment with the same configuration-- if found in anyone?s pertinent Maps. But when we see that Saturn-Pluto in this earthquake Map is also in Paran formation?this adds much greater strength to the conventional zodiacal square of culminating Saturn to Pluto in this Map. Robert Hand says within his essay on Parans: ?It is possible that there may even be an actual physical effect when two planets get into a constructive reinforcement pattern (Paran) like this. For example, their combined physical effects might trigger an earthquake. So one of the first things that I did was to check out several earthquakes to see if Parans were present. They were in all cases, usually three or four and very close, within one degree or less (Partile). Also, there were no corresponding zodiacal aspects at the same time in several cases. Now I do not consider this study to be at all conclusive, but it did whet my appetite to study this matter (Paran Configurations) further.? ?Essays on Astrology,? page 66. Again, we astrologers are seeing supported evidence with Andrew?s Chile Earthquake post (thanks Andrew) and Atlantean?s observation about Paran?s in this quake chart (thanks Atlantean) that Parans may be a huge ?missing link? in the entire field of astrology, not only in the field of people astrology but in the field of mundane astrology. This is why I maintain we astrologers need a specialized computer program where we can see all of our personal Paran formations with pertinent maps. My 18 years of working with Parans in a limited manner (because of no specialized program) has absolutely proven to me-- Paran formations in our pertinent charts are big time important. For those interested and have not already read?Hand gives examples (people) of Paran Transits that I have posted at: http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic ... 19a08f2271 Regards, Steve With all our modern knowledge and scientific equipment, and with the the great strides made in mathematics, we astrologers have done nothing to even remotely compare with the achievements of the astrologers of antiquity. The IC of that chart is 10 degrees Pisces - within a degree of that of this weekend's Full moon conjoining Jupiter. [Chile is of course literally a hotbed of seismic stuff -at the border of a number of plates- with 36 active volcanoes and over 100 others] Hi amelia, Is 11 am is based on any historical documentation? 18 by Deb Another point which I don't think has been mentioned so far is that the IC of this quake chart is aspected strongly by its ruler Mars (by trine) and very tightly by the square of Pluto. Added to everything else, the malefic contacts in this chart are quite dramatic. I would like to identify the chart that could have forewarned this area as one that was susceptible to damage at this time. Quote Sun Feb 28, 2010 5:25 pm
19 by Deb I just noticed that the point I made above applied in reverse to the recent Haiti earthquake chart - which had Saturn on the IC with Pluto and Mars in aspect. The IC in that chart is close to the MC of this one. It also seems remarkable that the Haiti quake happened with Venus (the "lesser benefic") almost exact in its superior conjunction combustion, whilst this stronger quake happened on the day that Jupiter (the "greater benefic") was in the same synodic position. Does this say something about the benefics losing their power to 'protect'? Because of the close similarities between both charts, I've put a chart of the Haiti quake below. The thread where that is discussed is here: http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5058 Haiti quake data: Time : Tuesday, January 12, 2010; 4:53 PM (local mean time) Location: Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Mundane Charts like the Chile Quake only offers us after the event scopes. Without a proven base national chart (many times there are several different timed national charts)?there is no reliable way to be forewarned for avoiding certain places. But when traveling, we can look at our various personal charts with our choices of travel destinations. A transiting Paran to our Natal Chart is mainly dictated by latitude when it comes to choices of destination. Transiting Parans to our Natal Chart could hold keys in selecting the ?right? travel destination. If offered a choice, I would rather go to a Venus-Jupiter destination than a Mars-Saturn destination, involving a transiting paran to my natal chart. Transiting Parans to our Natal?s could hold the key to ?being in the right place at the right time,? or ?being in the wrong place at the wrong time.? Food for thought. 21 by Deb Although not related in scale to this disaster, it might be of relevance that this same astrological period today saw fierce storms in Europe. The storm, named Xynthia, was the worst in France since 1999, with at least 51 people killed. The French Prime Minister has called it "a national catastrophe". Fierce storms in Europe kill 51, mostly in France And now more flood warnings for the UK I do think it is noteworthy that the day of the Venus combustion in Capricorn coincided with an earthquake and heavy snow throughout Europe, whilst the Jupiter combustion in Pisces corresponds with an earthquake and floods in Europe. David Roell (Astro-America bookstore) has made much of this triple conjunction, as have numerous other astrologers; some have stated that its approach began to manifest phenomena in early 2009. Although I am personally not a big fan of this "class" of astrological speculation, still I am really beginning to wonder about this upcoming triple play and its potential universal ramifications, and I think I'll try looking into it through a few of my unusual methods. This may be very true?but for pure vintage PLANETARY symbolism for the Chile quake chart- Saturn culminating?squaring Pluto with a Saturn-Pluto Paran formation is dead-on symbolism for this quake event. Now having read some of the Spanish sites, it seems that the time was 9am- confirmed by a photo of an extract from the original document. [One site gives 7 am but I don't think that is likely]. I still don't get 5 Sag rising though with 9 am. That gives 27 Sc. Maybe the South American astrologers have access to the actual meeting proceedings and what time a decision was made. I've never found anything like that. Do you know if that is the case? Ironically, I usually double and triple check dates to a mix of sources and also p.m times ( English writers never seem to have grasped 24 hour clock and many things are 2 hours out) but I assume if a morning time is quoted it would generally be right. I was wrong. Pity - it gave such a neat result. Quote Mon Mar 01, 2010 11:45 am
