13 by Andrew Bevan Thank Heavens Professor Cox only said that Astrology was Rubbish. We can disagree. If he had said that Astrology was a Soup, then we would have been in trouble. A soup represents a healthy meal in its own terms but it could be time for astrologers to stick a finger in the pot and sort out some odds and ends. It has to be done and we will do it. If not, we are simply in for the swim. Astrology is a Soup but I believe there is much to gain if we address our situation properly. The nutrition value of Astronomy and Astrology come in separate helpings. Professor Cox wants his trout on a plate with a knife and fork. This way he can happily cut away and dissect his fish before enjoying the slices. The challenge of astrology is, of course, that our soup comes in a dish and should be approached with a spoon. Of course Cox thinks astrology is rubbish. Have you every seen someone try to eat soup with a knife and fork? The Professor will probably and maybe rather starve before discovering the straw. It has to do with going beyond the knife and fork. There is an interesting discussion here regarding the origination of the fish and where it is heading. Was the trout happily swimming around in the soup before ending up on the scientist?s plate. Did the fish return to the soup, and is it waste, or does science continue to dip into the soup for new helpings of the irrational and undiscovered according to their appetite and ability to digest? Scientists will occasionally blame astrologers for saucing up their reality, but truth may not be quite so bad. Maybe a good scoop with the spoon is what is required to return astrology to the menu of academic midstream. To get to the sweets, astrology and astronomy, or art and science, should recognize one another as supplementary courses. While science will continue to dip into creative imagination for new helpings of soup material, astrology is equally embrace the stir and order of science if it wants to land anything of significance. The full meal is a combination of the two. http://www.astronor.com Quote Wed Apr 14, 2010 8:15 am
