Haral Skaat, entering for Israel, is born 8. Aug 1981. He is born with natal Sun 16 Leo and during the Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in 6-7Libra. This is interesting in comparison to the Jupiter/Saturn opposition in the chart of Lena Meyer-Landrut and the same opposition in the event chart. Skaat has his Moon in Scorpio, which gives an appropriate boost considering the final is being held in Norway.

The lyrics of Miril, the Israel entry, demonstrate great poetry when translated into English. On the other hand, it seems a bit difficult. On basis of the charts I will stick with Germany and hold Armenia as an 'outsider'.

It's only fair to add a few more 'Words' about Israel's entry 'Miril', sung by Haral Skaat.
My relation to this song began with not having a clue what the song was about. Parts of this performance is breathtaking and the poetry is profound. 'Words' could be a representation of Saturn in Virgo, ruler of the Aquarius 3rd house. The song appears to represent a dialogue with God, where Saturn is in the degree of Venus' fall and intercepted in the 9th, the House of God. Here is a translation of the lyrics: Link

This does remind of Saturn in Virgo, intercepted in the 9th. There is a symbolic comparison to the Swedish entry 'This is my Life' (about a fallen angel?), or the Armenian 'Apricot Stone' that is separated from the fruit or fruitful haven (opposite Jupiter) and tossed hurling through space like a German 'Satellite'. This is what makes the contest interesting. It could be that Skaat will benefit from, Mars, Lord of the 5th in the event chart is in Leo, the same sign as his natal Sun. It would appear that the Israel entry is a worship of God, while the German entry is far more commercial. Venus in the south node might give preference to something slightly 'sleazy' or off the highway. The Israel entry is full of glory and has nothing this of quality, unless 'Man - left at a loss' is the South node issue.

German Lena Meyer-Landrut's nativity appears to make a stronger connection to the event chart than that of Haral Skaat. Comparing with the chart of Norway Meyer-Landrut's Sun is in the 10th and Moon in the 2nd, while Skaat's Sun is on the cusp of the 12th and his Moon is in another cadent house, the 3rd.

I fear this text can be misunderstood for a political undertone or have a far deeper meaning than is usual for the Eurovision custom.

Here is a reflection on Lena Meyer-Landrut's chart that intergrates the Age Point technique I've been practicing the last 25 years. This has shown some interesting results when it comes to sports predictions. Frequently clients do not have an accurate birth time, or the birth time of a celebrity is unknown. In these cases I calculate a Solar Age Point (SAP) directed clockwise from the Sun, instead of a standard Age Point (AP) directed from the ascendant. At times when I service a large number of clients by phone, a combination of either the SAP or AP, together with a horary chart, provides rapid and ready information about the case at hand.

When applying the SAP or AP to judge competitions, any conjunction by sign to the Sun, Moon or Venus, etc. would indicate Gold, Silver or Bronze, and so on. Or the SAP or AP in a sign where the ruler of this sign also was present and seated on its throne would also be a strong indication of victory.

Lena Meyer-Landrut is 19 years at the time of the Eurovision final, so her Solar Age Point (SAP) is 7AQ30. Saturn is in his own sign Aquarius in her nativity, thus seated on his throne and seat of superiority. Her SAP at 7AQ30 is opposite Jupiter at 7LE48 and directing to the body of Saturn at 6AQ48. This is right in the middle of her natal opposition between the Superiors Jupiter and Saturn, an important configuration also present at the time of the Eurovision final!

Haral Skaat is, in comparison, close to 28 years and 10 months at the same time. This puts his SAP at 23Aquarius (same sign as Meyer-Landrut's SAP by the way!). Skaat does have his Saturn exalted in Libra conjunct Jupiter. This is no detriment - but it could be the case of an over-exposiure, considering this is a competition that depends upon the votes and involvement of delight from the audience. (The exaltation is due to shoot over the top and give strong affections in either direction) Skaat's SAP is moving from the hard square with Uranus at 26 Scorpio to the square with Chiron at 22 Taurus - which is indicative of a period of unrest and 'falling between chairs'. This could be the content of his song 'Miril', which is rather a challenge for anyone who needs to understand a deeper meaning.

If Germany do succeed in winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, this is a national event that is due to celebration at the same time as they would be hosting the Competition in 2011.

I want to direct the attention to Angela Merkel's chart, which for the purpose of my study is a Solar sunrise chart:
Notice how this chart has the Moon's South node in the 15th degree of Cancer. This is in the same sign as in the chart of the artist Lena Meyer-Landrut and conjunct Meyer-Landrut's Venus. Merkel has her South node conjunct Jupiter at 12CN05. This is comparing with the configuation on the day of the finals on 29. May where Venus is 11CN38 and the South node is 13CN45.

My 2nd point is that the Moon (Sun dispositor) in Merkel's Sunrise chart is 7AQ47. This is tightly wound up in Meyer-Landrut's Jupiter 7LE48 opposite Saturn 6AQ48. And Meyer-Landrut's Solar Age Point (SAP) was 7AQ30 at the time of the final, thus conjunct the Moon in Merkel's chart. I have Merkel's SAP at 19 Leo, which is trine the exaltation degree of the Sun and in a flamboyant sign. Merkel's Sun is conjunct Uranus, so the transition of SAP through Leo is likely to coincide with some spectacular event and excitement or unforseen change of pace. For political reasons, with the Euro in the midst of a crises, there may also be a tendency to turn to Germany for a Song for Europe...

I've placed two bets on Germany at the odds of 4:1 and noted the time for when they were reigstered. The first occurred at 20.14 CST, 4 May 2010, Asker (Oslo) with Asc 4SC59 MC 24LE09. Interestingly enough, Mars L5 at 25LE40 in the event chart is culminating at this time. Now I am no expect on the chart of Germany, but the chart for 18 January 1871 (ref. Campion) has the Sun 28 Capricorn. In my chart the Moon is 28CP41 and applying to the sextile of Uranus at 29PI08 in the 5th house. Meyer-Landrut has the 29th degree of Capricorn in the South of her Solar sunrise chart. The 2nd bet was place at 23.35 CST on 5. May 2010, Asker (Oslo). Asc 7SG02 MC 19LI19. The Moon in this chart is 12AQ15 in the 2nd house and applying to the trine of Venus, L5+L10, at 12GE59 in the 7th house. My reflections are that these charts suggest that I could be on the right track, but there is always a risk association with speculation and gaming.

An option for anyone placing a bet is to 'hegde' by putting a smaller bet on other candicates with a chance in the race. For example, one bookmaker is willing to pay as much at 10,5:1 for an Israel victory, whilest another bookmaker is offering 18,5:1 for Armenia. So the placement on Israel could be 1/5 of the size of whatever was placed on Germany, and 1/10 of this amount is put on Armenia. This is a sort of 'insurance' and an alternative if you are into enjoying this sort of gaming. But the first two rules are 1) Do not to loose your head, and 2) not to do something that you could regret. I only take responsibility for my own dabblings.

Well, discussing the subject has made me change my mind and go for Germany instead of Armenia. It made me think of something I learnt from Olivia Barclay some 2,5 decades ago about the winning planet having to be essentially dignified. Mars shows some of that virtue.

It is true. Mercury retrograde can do funny things to score boards. Some 5 years ago I passed judgement on who would win the Norwegian Idol with Mercury retrograde on the day of the final. The person I picked out to win of the remaining four came 4th and the person I thought would come 4th won the competition. The prediction was given a 2 page coverage in Norway's leading newspaper. Amidst all the embarrassment and controversy I still maintain that the astrology was correct. The girl who came 4th in the contest moved on to become a true Norwegian Idol and is still going strong, while the winner experienced a flop as soon as the competition was over and nobody has heard of him since. I'm not suggesting anything was fixed but Mercury was retrograde and history shows that the vote in fact went the wrong way!

Here is the Solar sunrise chart of Safura Alizadeh, who will be performing the Azerbaijan entry 'Drip, drop':
There are two interesting things here, the first one being that her natal Sun is 27VI23and conjunct the position of the elevated Saturn in the chart of the event. The second point is that the Moon in her sunrise chart is 1 Cancer, which might be compared with the moon in the sunrise chart of Lena Meyer-Landrut that is 1 Libra - both are in cardinal points. OK - so we can see some things here that appear to be on the right wave-length.

However, I fail to see how the event chart could suggest Azerbaijan, a Taurus nation (?). I fail to how Safura's chart gets the same lift as Meyer-Landrut. 'Drip, drop' sounds like a double and multiple sign affair, like Gemini and Pisces. I don't find this in the event chart. This is one of my objections to the Israeli 'Miril', Words, which is a plural - Saturn in Virgo sound more like a solitary affair like 'Satellite' or 'Apricot Stone'.
