This is a hard task. The weather in Prague could be anything at the end of July. Those who would be tempted to look at statistics better stick to this unpredictable chart. It actually looks like a typical July weather!

To pose such a question could be a self fulfilling prophecy: any answer could apply. The weather in Prague could vary greatly from one location to another at some extreme summer weather presentations. It is not unusual that while it is hailing at The Castle it is sunny at Vinohrady. And we are still talking about the centre of the city. Lots of hills in Prague.

So, I am just assuming that when the question was asked (looking at the Prague Astronomical Clock), the querent had in its mind its location (GPS):

I wonder if Deb is using us as weather predictors for her secret trip to Prague, while planning to take measurements herself: in front of the Prague Astronomical Clock, on July 30th :-) . If so, I hope she would write me a note, so there are not two people running around with a thermometer and a small meteorological device. And we could go for coffee.

Prague does not have any official foundation chart, not even close, it is too old. However, The Prague Astronomical Clock (The Horologe) is another story: it will celebrate 600 years in October. The best available evidence points out to October 9, 1410. Historical sources (1459) show that it was not uncommon to read out a chart directly from The Horologe.

So, Deb is somewhat, unknowingly, bringing out the old practice. The Horologue is still full of astrological symbolism, however due to several overhauls some of its astrological stuff got removed. But is it still running and it still has the majority of the original clockwork.

weather astrology is still a mystery to me,so I don't know where to start with the chart in question.

But I wonded whether (no pun intended), if astrological symbolism is as multi-layed as I imagine it to be, the horary chart for the time Deb asked us the question would answer it.

So that was 2.03 pm GMT on 30 june.

In this chart the MC is 6 Leo and Venus, (also Asc ruler) is in the 10th. Sun is in Cancer. So I think it will be sunny but there will be a lot of moisture around making it humid and hazy at 4.30, (This may be further suggested by a Moon Neptune conjunction)

[Also with the sun opp Pluto and sextiling Mars (translated by Mercury) there may be storms as the Sun sets. But of course that is not the question]

I just have to throw in, we had a terrific thunder storm here last night. It moved in just before midnight. I thought it was interesting because Mercury was separating from his trine to direct, but slow Jupiter (and retrograde Uranus) in the first house. However, the Moon was moving to the body of Mercury at 6Leo and thus forcing an 'opening of gates' that had already past. Jupiter's motion up ahead: He is applying by square to Pluto but will be in his first station on 23. July before retrograde Pluto perfects the square to Jupiter on 25. July. The aspect between retrograde planets is called an 'ill application' because a great change (turbulence) is in the air, or a sudden alteration. That's fascinating, too!

As the thunderstorm moved in, Uranus and Jupiter were in the first house, opposite Saturn (cold air). Gemini, ruled by Mercury, was on the cusp of the 4th house and the general significator of the weather.

Once again, I see we need to tighten the terms and conditions. So to clarify, I chose the webcam location so that we can all be witness to the result, and not fall into our usual post-result squabbles. So we?re not interested in the weather around the corner, only what we can all see at 4:30 pm CED on 30th July, as seen via the internet webcam of that specific location. So make like an octopus and allow the use of your instincts as well as your brain

Here's my go:

I think, with this chart, that the weather will be quite dramatic ? so the options for me are either a record-breaking heatwave or particularly unpleasant weather, such as high wind or dark skies. But I am going to make my prediction for sudden alterations and heavy downpour, preferably with thunder and lightning for added effect. (Either that or a calm and tranquil sunny day )

I have to be a bit flippant because I haven?t found the time to study this properly, but I do think that the Mars-Saturn conjunction is leading in to a period of heavy floods, especially around this period when they conjoin in the first degree of moveable Libra in opposition to Uranus. (I suppose we would all expect to see more financial shocks and other disasters around this period too).

Prague at this time has the conjunction angular as the Moon pulls into the opposition, so I think there is a strong chance of weather which is quite ?frightening?.

I also noticed this recently ? Henry Coley?s translation of the 34th aphorism of Ptolemy?s centiloquium:

The most recent new Moon was at 19.23 Cancer (11th July) ? so ruled by the Moon in Cancer. Around that date the weather changed in Britain and a long spell of hot, dry weather was replaced by a prolonged spell of rain and cloud. So I think that will be likely to predominate for the rest of the month, and set the backdrop for this European city too. So I will be more outspoken than I have the right to be, and predict a storm.

I am new to the forum and this is my first time to post.

Weather forecasting using astrology was practiced by Kepler. Using what he wrote about the conjunction of Mars and Saturn - I think this configuration in Prague on the end of July will bring about cold weather. As this Mars/Saturn conjunction occurs in summer time heavy or prolonged rain is unlikely but it will likely be cold causing precipitation and possibility of rainfall is thus strong.

As to the contrariety of hot(Mars) and cold (Saturn), I think that - its Saturn who will win here, being a superior planet and is in the sign of its exaltation. Mars is debilitated in Libra- thus its weak. Hence, there will be rain.

Modern planets may be the icing on the cake, refining the atmospheric condition of the day. Uranus can bring in lightning and with Pluto prominent in the figure, there can be loud and even scary thunder.

As Kepler used it, the days around the aspect itself will produce certain effect so looking at the date itself is a valid practice. I think we have to look at the ingress or lunation charts when we want to know the general weather condition for the whole month or the whole quarter for this contest it maybe enough to look at the positions on this actual date.

Based on my observations in my place, if ever there are stronger factors at work such as the Mars/Saturn aspect, Moon in water signs will bring about rain.

There are enough factors to say that there will be rain.

The moment that Saturn hits one of the angles maybe the time where rainfall is hardest (4-5pm).

The answer to his challenge was that the weather in Prague was miserable and grey. No heavy rain or dramatic storms at Prague, but no sunshine either ? just an oppressive sky that is quite typical of what tradition records for when Saturn is elevated and strong. (Lilly, for example, says that Saturn?s influence upon the weather is to cause ?cloudy, dark, obscure air, cold and hurtful, thick, black and cadence clouds? (CA p.60)

So is the Saturn Mars conjunction worth noticing as an indicator of violent weather? I think it is very noticeable that the news is full of storms, heatwaves and floods at the moment. I also took a screenshot this morning of the BBC world news site, of which three of its top stories involved weather tradgedies ? in Pakistan nearly half a million people left homeless by floods (full story here); an emergency declared in America as wildfires blaze in California (story here) - and Deadly forest fires ravage Russia (story here)


Am I just noticing what I chose to see or is that extraordinary?


My feeling is that the general theme of the chart we looked at accords with what most people who contributed to the thread expected, but what we see at Prague is probably pretty typical. Just unpleasant weather, expressing a negative astrological theme that is causing violence in some places of the world. The question is similar to that which has been raised in the discussion of earthquakes ? what techniques do we need to develop in order to tell where the dramatic events are likely to manifest?

I hope to repeat this experiment another time. I was limited in my choice of location because I wanted to choose somewhere with a reliable webcam, at a time and place where the weather wouldn?t be obviously predictable without the astrological story.

I was thinking about that just yesterday. The lower we get on the time and astrological scale, more "noise" we will have. To expect that astrology will show every rain, every heat wave, etc, is most likely to bring disappointing. I will try to work a better system when I have my computer back...

But tests are always fun, if you don?t expect them to be the final word about astrological technique and potentials.
