I would like that, Mark. I would also appreciate your viewpoint if you are able to ignore one dullard's view on the matter. I always find your posts worthwhile, it would be a shame for you to just stop giving them. It is always obvious when those who cheat do so in these tests, I never got that sense from your attempts.

Sorry I updated my post as I realised I dont know how to display SF charts without location and coordinates.

A couple of people sent me a PM pointing out the chart recently I displayed on the overcoming thread was too easy to find for that specific reason as they said it made it dead easy for them to find on Astrodatabank with a simple google search. Still that chart was more to demonstrate overcoming than a true Mystery chart.

So leaving out location, coordinates and outers does seem more challenging. Then again judging by Grahams post its seems its possible to narrow down a date and time of birth from a chart even with a stripped down chart!

Ultimately, though these exercises are just a chance to try out our techniques in a more practical way. Finding some of our pet ideas dont work out is just as instructive as finding out what does. Perhaps there has been to much focus lately on simply getting it right in a competitive sense rather than explaining the methodology of how you got there. For me that is what is instructive and potentially replicatable to other charts.

What I do on my blog is save it as a JPG and then use Paint program to white out the data I want hidden. I am looking at the chart now, and if the guy was born in the 1900's, it should be ok for me to just deduct 23 degrees. I feel proper old-school working from a handwritten chart! The only planet which is uncertain is Venus but she isn't proving too important for what we are looking at.

Well first thing I would look at in this context is the temperament. I follow Zoller somewhat here.
ASC - cold and wet
Moon - cold and dry
Mars - hot and dry
Jupiter - wet

H - 1 (but I do note Mars and the Sun's close influence of the ASC)
C - 2
W - 2
D - 2

His is a tough one as Mars aspects the ASC and is lord of the Moon and Fortune. Strictly following the table would suggest Phelgmatic/Melancholic but I would think there would be a lot of Choler there due to Mars, and to a lesser extent, the Sun. I'm not sure what to label this guy but Mars does dominate his chart.

Looking to the Rank of Fame, Mars bodyguards for both Luminaries, aspecting the degrees following the Moon and preceeding the Sun whie being angular with both luminaries angular and in masculine signs. It is recommended to look to the bodyguard's local determination and rulerships as well as its nature to see how it will manifest its aid. Mars with Jupiter is a good case for the military or something equally as adventurous, while the Sun in the 1st as almuten of the 10th suggests leadership or fame, or at least some recognition by powerful people. The Sect Light elevated and in the 10th suggest prominence too.

For his career, Mars seems an obvious choice since he is responsible for most of the important points in the chart. Mercury in the ASC and trine the MC also suggests he is important though he is under the beams, I don't know if that inhibits him in any way from performing this role. I'd say his career was Mars predominantly with Mercury and Jupiter assisting. According to Masha'allah in The book of Aristotle this would show:

...supplies fiery work: for he constructs arms, is engaged in controversies, burns for sexual intercourse with women, tames monkeys or cures wounds, or persists in lies...But Jupiter regarding them furnishes leaders of wars, engages in controversies, and indulges in lies. PN1, Dykes, p168

So I'm definitely seeing the military here, maybe even a high leadership role due to the lights being so effective. Mars is in a human sign which only emphasises that rather than a construction or engineering job, or even taming monkeys! Though the leadership part is hard to say without knowing where he began in life.

As for one of the main points asked about, I wouldn't say that there would neccessarily be a distinct signature of being successful in two different careers in life, some people just seem to turn to gold whatever they touch and looking to this guy's luminaries and its attendant, I'd say he is one of them. I don't see any signs of a fall as the dispositors of the luminaries are placed really well. As for many careers, I confess I have no idea how to look for that. Maybe all thos planets aspecting the MC? Anyway, I don't see any other planet being as dominant as Mars is here.

So to sum up: I'd think a Martial career involving humans and one which he achieved some level of recognition for. I just noticed his Moon/Mars/Jupiter combo is quite similar to Bill Gates' Moon/Mars/Mercury combo, I'd think Jupiter would stop him from being known for his aggressive and shady actions but maybe not since he is out-of-sect. The part of the Masha'allah quote suggesting lies ismaking me second-guess myself. Gates' combination does lack a benefic regard though, so I could be just drawing conclusions that aren't there.

One other thing, I can't remember where I read this (or even if I did, maybe I dreamed it) but I think Mars in the 4th can show a person who moves from place-to-place or at elast from the country of birth. Just another thing to throw out there.

Well, let's take a shot. Most angular of the professional planets is Mars & the planet closest to the Sun is Mercury, protected from the Sun's beams by being in his own places. Thinking this person was a successful athlete of some kind. Lot of Spirit in Aries in the 9th, along with both the Sun's and Mars' angularity and goadedness, perhaps the native became a pastor/cleric?

I would be happy to display the chart in any Jyotish ayanamsa but I dont know how to display Solar Fire charts without location and coordinates.

Ok. Quick analysis for this 'Quickie Mystery Chart'

I agree with the first post made by PD.

Whenever, the Saturn was transiting the Sign of Taurus, he had chances of having the best time in career and whenever the Saturn is transiting the Sign of Scorpio the worst time or public image bit tarnished. His 5th, 6th and 7th house are strong.

He has interest in occult and paranormal but can not become an astrologer.

Whenever, he had Saturn transiting the sign of Pisces he experienced 'Paranormal' or took interest in occult.

He likes to shock the people by his statements (Jup con Mars/Strong 5th house/Sun in Leo)).

One of his career must relate to Mars. So, he could be a doctor but not a good surgeon (to become a good surgeon, Mars must be negative) . If he was not a doctor he had threat to life when Saturn was transiting the sign of Taurus.

From the post of Tom, I conclude that the person was born in 20th century. I know this is difficult to prove, I give two likely months when he met his twin soul

I consider Mars weaker in this regard. The houses above the horizon in carrier matters are stronger that the ones below the horizon. The 10th is stronger than the 4th. The sect luminary is by far more important than any other planet.

According to the rules I found in Abu Mashar, al Qabisi Introduction to the Traditional Astrology as translated by B.Dykes, the Moon's bodyguards must be in a later degree than her, but no more than 7 degrees away, and the Sun's bodyguards must rise before him and thus be in an earlier degree (pages 206-216). According to the rules, the first bodyguard is Mercury with about a degree away from the exact trine. Anyway the Moon is pushing the power to Mercury and when she has reached Mars, after meeting with Mercury and Saturn, she will have little left to Mars. Taking into account the receptions involved, she'd rather not meet Mars in her fall.

Yeah, you're right. I missed that about Mercury but he is under the beams, so I'm not too fond of him taking up the role I have given to Mars. Mars is also more angular, so more suited to the job.

I have been skimming through the Book of the Nine Judges and found on page 176 if the lord of the east happened to be within 12 degrees of the Sun going to be scorched (which is not the case here, it is about to leave the rays) nor however received, it is fatal. In B.Dykes footnote we read that it is a nice reminder that the reception by the Sun (i.e., while he is in Leo or Aries) can save a planet from scorching. It is included in the section which deals with the 6th house matters.

I wonder why it cannot be true with any other planet not only the lord of ASC.

In the soccer rules, I wrote:

In judging the effect of combustion, always consider the condition of the Sun (his essential and accidental dignities ? the place in figure, etc.) and the planet suffering combustion. Consider receptions involved. A planet in its own house or exaltation is more able to bear the hardship than a one in its fall or just peregrine. The relevant planet as a host has certain power over the Sun, and the Sun as a guest must, according to the celestial laws, refrain from harming his host. If the Sun is the significator then such position should be considered as a fortification. If a planet is received by the Sun (i.e. in Aries or Leo), he refrains from harming the guest.

But if the Sun suffers essential debility in the sign he is in, he does not spare even the ruler of the relevant sign. Thus, for Venus it is better to be combust in Taurus than Libra which is the fall of the Sun. In the domiciles and terms of malefics combustion is worse than in domiciles and terms of benefics (however consider receptions which might modify your judgement); in the signs which differ in nature with the Sun combustion is worse than in signs which agree with the Sun?s nature (hot and dry). For instance, combustion in Sagittarius (a hot and dry sign) would not be so negative in effect if the combustion were in Scorpio (a wet and cold sign).

To sum up, there is a difference if a planet is scorched in Libra or Aquarius (where the Sun suffers debility) or in Aries or Leo (where the Sun is dignified).

Scorching should not be necessarily considered as an affliction. If the Sun rules the hour, disposes POF or rules the MC, or is the almuten of the place of nonagesimal, the signficiator?s approaching combustion should be regarded as a fortification rather than an affliction unless the Sun is afflicted as discussed above ? then combustion should be treated as one of the worst afflictions in their common sense.

Moreover, the Sun is the lord of the rising sign. Why he should harm Mercury? So, in my opinion, Mercury is fit to do the job like Mars.
