There is no taking into account the condition of the planet itself or what it aspects etc. To make a big deal of something in isolation like that seems to defeat the purpose of the chart being an integrated whole.

ME Jones, who apparently introduced/popularized the idea, certainly took into account a singleton's condition in his example interpretations. His use was consistent with his other methods for identifying parts of the chart with emphasis (and without it for that matter). So his was clearly an integrated approach, and singletons were to be considered in context.
