Hi Morgan, this is what I thought about your chart:
Your mother is described by the AC and peregrine Mars. She also has retrograde Saturn in her 1st house. This describes her to feel as ?out of place? or uncomfortable. As you link Saturn (3rd ruler) to your aunt, your mom is bothered with some kind of tense situation or old issues going on between them. She probably would prefer to be elsewhere. In fact, the first house ruler Mars is a malefic, he?s just seperating from Uranus and Pluto connections and in his detritment. Evertything for her seems to go (too) slowly, and she has non the strength to make things going as she is used to.
Your cousins?s wife is described (as you choose this) by 7th ruler Venus, as is the baby (turned 5th ruler). She?s has just entered the 8th house, which describes a metamorphosis as a birth is. Venus is applying Mars, ruler of the radical 5th house. But Mars is debilitated and a malefic, thus describing problems. HE?s also slow, describing the possibility of a difficult delivery.
The Moon has just changed sign and is now in cardianal Libra in the turned 5th house. This confirms that in the woman something has changed, she entered a new status, which shows a imminent start of the birthprocess.
The Moon?s separating from Jupiter. Moon?s next aspect is a square to the Sun, which is a general significator for Life. Since the Moon is the natural significtor for (unborn) childs, this aspect describes probably pains or contractions. This happens at the distance of 10?, so probably around lunchtime the 5th of July. Then the Moon makes a trine to Venus, she goes to the hospital (Venus 12th ruler) . But this will reveal to be a false allarme: the contractions will stop (Moon square Sun). Next, the Moon opposes Uranus (acceleration or unexpected situations) and will finally join Mars on the 6th of July and sextile the AC.
As Mars (strength of the cousin) is a natural malefic and so debilitated I wonder if she will deliver by a cesarian section , which might be decided on July 6th (Moon/Mars conjunction in the 12th ).
The child will be born on June 10th, when Mars trines Venus, Moon trine 5th cusp, Moon trines Uranus, Moon trines Mars, Moon opposition Venus,

(Last but not least, Saturn describes the retentive virtue. He's retrograde, something is wrong with that, on the AC (in opposition to Mrs. P. AC) something blocks the delivery.)

Hey everyone,

Thank you very much for participating to this exercise. I have learnt a lot with your answers.

So, here?s what happened:
On the 10th, Mrs P. had contractions and thought it was time. The nurse came and said it was not time yet.
On the 15th Mrs P. experienced contractions again. The nurse came and said that it was nothing and so she left. Not half an hour later, Mrs P.?s water broke. My cousin called the nurse to tell her to turn around and come back asap. The only thing was that the nurse was now stuck in traffic due to an accident on the road. So basically my cousin had to help his wife deliver the baby. It happened pretty smoothly if I recall well, the only thing was that the umbilical cord was shorter than average and they didn?t have the tools to cut it properly. (I don?t remember how they managed the cutting or if the nurse arrived in time for that) After the nurse finally arrived, she declared the baby in perfect health. Oh, and it?s a boy.

On the astrological level, here?s what I could make sense of:
Let?s start with Saturn and the Asc. Like I said, I took my mom to be the Asc. She has Scorpio rising in her birth chart, is short and slightly plump.
Laura said:
or just not wanting to spend too much time with her sister as Saturn is pacing back and forward on the ascendant which is ruling her sisters 3rd house indicating a degree of anxiety about being there and the travel options available of travelling back out of there. I also considered some of the Scorpion characteristics too they are intense, not always saying what they are really thinking, very private preferring their own space but extremely loyal which may have been what was keeping here there longer than she would have preferred if necessary.
And it is all very true.

They love each other, but it?s also very true.

Regarding Saturn (ruler of 3rd and 11th-12th by exaltation on the Asc.):
My mom loves being in Paris but find it always stressful to please everyone.
Also, Deb you were absolutely right when you said my mom could be worried about the need to perform a cesarean. She was also really worried about the many scenarios that could go wrong by having a baby at home instead of at a hospital. Finally, she was also worried about our car, because we had just spent a good deal of money to repair it before driving up to Paris. But she was still worried that the car would break down on us (I don?t know why, but every time we go to Paris, on the way back, 8 times out of 10 we have car issues?doesn?t matter how new the car is).

For the date:
So the birth ended up being on the 15th of July. Like most of you, I thought she would give birth on the 10th.
Paul said:
10? could be symbolic of the number of days
That would give us the 14th of July. Quite close.

Now I?m not sure, maybe I was wrong taking the 7th as Mrs P. but here?s how I can come up with the 15th of July. (If you think you found another way, don?t hesitate to let me know)
-Moon next aspect is a square to the Sun in 10?/days gives us the 14th of July. The Moon was really slow (12?10?), that might add an extra day?
-Venus will actually trine Mars when they get around the 24th?. Symbolically it gives 11?/days (24?-13?=11?), which would indicate the 15th. Also the actual trine happens on the 14th of July.

For the gender:
-I took Mars (masculine) in Libra (masculine) in the turned 5th as signifying the gender.
-Also, some authors say (Bonatti, Denis Labour? and others) that you might want to judge the gender according to the signs of the Asc. and its ruler or Almuten, the 5th and its ruler or Almuten, and the place of the Moon. Asc. in Taurus, Venus in Gemini (with its lord in the same sign), 5th is in Libra, with Venus in Gemini and Moon in Libra. If we take the turned 5th?s Almuten we have Saturn in Scorpio.
The majority of significators are in masculine signs.
-The nature of the planet the Moon aspects next may also indicate the gender, here it is going to square the Sun.

I think that is all. I?ll let you work out the time of birth if you want.

In any case, thank you again for participating, and if you have other insights on the chart or better ways to interpret it (using the radical Asc. for example, or any other way), let us know! :D

PS: Deb, I still haven't got Mrs P.'s data but if/when I get it, I'll post it.

Apparently , it is too difficult to me to figure out the birth time.
I can only guess the baby was born during daytime.

Fascinating - thank you for all the feedback and the very interesting scenario. Will you give us the actual time tomorrow? I cannot see anything too obvious at a quick glance, but with all that panic it sounds like that horary Mars would get prominence, and it is angular around descendant between 13:30 - 1:30 pm

Thanks Morgan

I wonder if you could provide some insight as to what your own judgement of the chart was, and what decisions you made about whether to stay or not at that time? Did you stay in Paris in the end? In my judgement I felt that you would probably stay in Paris either intentionally or not. It's been an interesting horary though, and thank you for sharing it, it's been insightful to see how the situation panned out.

I?m glad you enjoyed that little exercise :D

Regarding the time of birth:
Ming, you were right when you said during day time.
Deb, very close and very impressive!
That little boy was born at 12:56pm or said differently, at noon and 56 minutes.
If you don?t mind and have the time, I?d love to hear how you got there?
You took the planet that seems to be significator of the baby and moved the Asc. (or the house cusp representing the mother) to that planet? In any case, well done!

Paul, here was my reasoning:
To assign houses I checked the physical description of my mom and Mrs P. and also made sure that their significator made sense by their placement in the chart.
For the timing, I first had a look at the Moon and Mars thinking that a conjunction might be stronger than any other aspect to indicate the time of birth. But 17?/days would give us the 21st of July. I thought it might be too long, so then, I had a look at when Venus would get to the degree of Mars and settled on the 10th. On the 10th, the delivery did not happen. The next day my visa thing went well and I knew I would have to come back to Paris to take my flight (which would give me an opportunity to see the baby) so I decided to leave the next day (the 12th) to get my stuff in order.
And for once, nothing happened on the way back?yay!

Hello, Morgan,

I ever think the time is around 13:00 but i thought my method was wrong so I crossed off it.

Do you mind tell us the physical description of Mrs P or your mom ? It will be helpful for my study. Thank you .

Best wishes

Ming

Hi Morgan, embarrassingly, I now see that the way I got the time right was to make a mistake  Firstly, my post should have said 12:30-1:30 pm, (not 13.30-1:30pm), which sounds good, but looking back at the transit chart I used, it was set for am not pm, so the whole thing was a screw-up on my part. I would not have got the timing right, except it seemed quite clear to me that the chart denied the prospect of an imminent birth, and was rejecting the suggestion of staying in Paris until it happened. I think we get a fuller picture if the mother's birth chart is known too - for example both my daughters, though born years apart, materialised as Venus transited my natal Moon. The two interesting things I notice by comparing the baby's birth chart with the horary, is that the derived 5th house cusp (7 Libra) rises on the ascendant at the time of birth, and the Part of Fortune in the birth chart, at 19.11 Taurus, falls upon the degree of 7th cusp in the horary - used to signify the mother, Mrs P.

Hi everyone,

Ming,
My mom is short, a bit plump, with a strong constitution. She has dark hair, dark eyes and a tanned complexion.
As for Mrs P., she is taller, has fair long straight hair, a roundish/oval face and has a pink complexion. A broad forehead with prominent eyes and lips.
Also, well done for the timing! If you want and have the time to explain, I would be curious to know how you got to 1pm?

Deb, I sympathize with you, I know how frustrating it can be to work on something and then realize that the data used were incorrect.
I also noticed the turned 5th corresponded to the baby's Asc. I wonder if there's always a connection between the horary chart and the new born's chart...? That would make sense if there was though.
