Reading through the past links, I couldn't believe reading, Rob was ready to quit it at some point. Thankfully he didn't.

Known bugs:
- the revolutions of a Julian-calendar-radix are calculated correctly but are shown with Gregorian calendar.
- ayanamsa with fixstars or antiscia/contraantiscia (is this really a bug!?)

These bugs wouldn't be a big deal to fix but currently I have no Windows so I wouldn't be able to build the executable.

Did all progress on the idea of adding true Topocentric Primary Directions stop?

I am curious, because it would be a shame if it did. It's an incredible technique and there are few options available. Two of the three are quite expensive.

No, I will continue the development(not only the PDs but the whole program).

Is it too late to make a request on the software?

Is it possible to have a "seconds" field on the latitude and latitude are for geographical location on the chart set up screen? I've noticed Morinus charts can be slightly different than my other software. I think it has to do with that. Usually the ascendant, Sun, and Moon might be different by a bit.

In my opinion astrology is art. No modern astrologer can delineate a radix chart as Morin, Lilly or Placidus could. Neither can I. Adding the seconds wouldn't help. I was already asked to do this but I declined.
Until I can't delineate a radix chart(or any charts) properly, I don't see why I should move on to using PDs or other higher level techniques(and also extreme exactness like the seconds).
Modern western astrologers have no common language: some use only the seven planets, some use ten planets, some use the minor aspetcs too, some not, some use asteroids, some use the hypothetical planets. Not to mention the rest.
Instead of adding more and more things/features the basics should be put in order.
Most of the developers of the commercial astrological softwares try to satisfy everybody's needs in order to earn more money.

first of all I would like to thank you that you implemented the feature I had asked you for. This acknowledgement would have been more polite in time but now I do it in front of publicity.

You may be right but we must accept that everyone conceives basics differently. There is no common agreement what a planet means in astrology, which is the zodiac that should be employed exclusively, whether geocentric or topocentric and apparent or true view ought to be used and I can continue this ad infinitum. Just look at the current debate on the issue what kind of chart is to be drawn in the southern hemisphere. Though the discussion is very modest, actually it is a rather ardent question as it raises basic philosophical issues that have hardly been answered so far. A unification of astrology seems to be as easy as to unify, say, philosophy, which is clearly by no means possible. Therefore you, as a software developer, even if you make it pro bono, have the sole responsibility to say if a feature has fundamental importance or may be negliged. For me (and I can add my students too) it already contains nearly everything, and, in the same time, much more than needed. K?sz?n?m mindannyiunk nev?ben!

Thank you for your kind words.
It is good to see another hungarian on this forum :-) .
I agree with you but the number of the selectable options in this program tells me that something is not right here. Not to mention the Southern Hemisphere charts(should tropical charts be reflected[signs and Asc, MC])
Hopefully I will be able to continue the development soon(maybe this doesn't only mean adding new features but also removing unnecessary ones).

I'd like to make another remark in connection with the topocentric PDs and to adding more and more techniques to this program.
It is very important how we check the PDs, I think there are two ways:
A: We create the list of PDs (sometimes with 20 or more directions for a year) and then select the one we think will work
B: Knowing properly which planet means what in the radix, we know what effect will/should occur from the direction of two planets(or their aspects) and we create the PDs of those two planets and see the hitdate.

In my opinion the second(B) way is the correct one. Of course, this can only be done after delineating the radix properly.

I have been following J-B Morin's method (plus the secondary directions/progressions -as far as I know it's a Placidian technique-).
His method is:
PDs
Solars
Lunars
Transits

and I also check the the SecDirs right after the PDs.
As I understood him, he uses both the PDs and the solars. If there is a Sun(in Xth house) D --> Jupiter PD but in the revolution for that year the Sun is in the 12th house with saturn quadrat without any fortunate aspect of Jupiter then the PD will produce nothing, and only ineffective attempts for honours will occur along with impediments and perhaps also misfortune in connection with honours.
What he means is both the PDs and the Solars should be checked. If they are concordant then the event will occur.
The next thing is the lunar to find the month in that year then comes the transits to find the day.
I managed to predict several(maybe all since I read Morin's method) important events in my life with Morin's method.
My own experience tells me that solars are very important: if a planet is in a house of the radix and it is in the same house of the revolution then the thing what it signified always happend(the dignity of the planet in the two charts also matters: it attenuates or enhances the effect).
I have to admit that I always fail with the transits because there are several concordant ones in a month.

What I am trying to say is PDs are useless without the solars. They can come up with newer and newer PD-systems, without the solars they won't work. Morin never said that the PD will occur on the very day of the event(not even in the same month). E.g I have a planet in my 9th house: if it is in the solar's 9th house then I go abroad, as it always happend. Of course this is true for the ruler of the 9th house too. It is very fascinating that in this case usually there is a concordant PD or secondary direction. But only one of the two types of directions.

This is why I don't understand this PD-craze. However, I am planning to add the topocentric PDs.

Sometimes there were both PD and SD.

In my chart I have Jupiter and Venus close to each other: both the PD and the SD happened to me but the Solar showed both.
Experience tells me that the solar should be casted for the birthplace.

They do come across as opinions though, because that is what they are.

I can't speak for other systems, but in Topocentric Primary Directions, there doesn't appear to be any mitigating factors. In other words, I haven't seen any cases of an accumulation of appropriate symbology that there wasn't obviously related events occurring. My opinion might change if I ever see it that the accumulation is there and no obviously relevant events.

Bill Clinton just recently had heart surgery as we all know.

In Topocentric Primary Directions we have:

Saturn semisextile MC 0? 4'
Uranus semisquare Mars 0? 5'
Moon sesquisquare Saturn 0? 1'
Sun square Saturn 0? 1'
Pluto sesquisquare MC 0? 4'

[The fact that Sun squares Saturn to 1/21,600th of a circle during the same week that he has heart surgery surely doesn't look like coincidence to these eyes...] I guess I am saying, "why use broad-period MAYBE's, when there are tightly-timed reiterations such as these with this system?"

And yes, this is just one example of MANY.

So far, I have surveyed many forms of Primary Directions. The results, to be honest, were extremely lackluster. They just WERE. With Topocentric Primary Directions, everything falls into place. At major stressful events, there are often accumulations of "themed" negative placements.

Not including them and not pursuing what is to be found here, only seems a tragedy to me. (but I agree, to each his own)

Well, I am a Morin fan :-)
The problem is why would any of these PDs mean the event occured?
5 planets mean the same in Clinton's chart? The other problem is that they are minor aspects.
Let's say that there is a chart with Mars in the sixth house(the house of sickness) or the lord of sickness, not in domicile. The PD Mars oppositio ASC can mean an operation.
I am not an astrologer and I haven't checked Clinton's chart I am just interested in astrology, so please forgive me if I think that you must have selected these PDs from the list of PDs according to their being closer to the time of the event.
The analogy is the most important thing, just like in the example of the 6th house Mars above.
I am sure that another moder astrologer would select other PDs in case of Clinton's operation.
As I said, I am interested in the Topocentric PDs but as you might know the PDs are not easy to implement.

What makes a PD correct is not its hitdate but its analogy.
On the other hand, I can accept your opinion.

Ok, I overlooked the quadrat.
But still, the problem is the way of the selection of the PDs (analogy).

I will definitely try the TPDs but not using the solar is a mistake.
Since I saw that Morin's method works I will go on using it.
It is no problem for me if you do the same with TPDs but It makes no sense to continue this debate.
