Aw! :( Still more to learn!

Le Mans - Lyon 1-0
How on earth did they manage that? Lyon are top of the league. Have Le Mans knocked them out of the cup? The chart is not radical. The Lady of the hour is not in tune with the ascendant. Her application to L7 produces nothing. Nor does the mr between L1 & L2 take precedence.

Ankaragucu - Besiktas 1-1
Another upset. Ankaragucu took an early lead and it was sure looking good. This chart is cast for the hr of the Sun. There is no good mix between the ascendant and the lord of the hour, but the Moon and the Sun are in the same triplicity. The lord of the hour is in the 7th, so the away team get their point. Fortuna in Libra square the Lord of the hour..

tut-tut...

I've had a look at the Le Mans/Lyon chart and agree that the testimonies favour the Desc team. Moon trine Jupiter (L7) and antiscion Jupiter conj Desc. Is there a case for giving the Desc to Le Mans even though they are the home team? Presumably they were the underdogs, so that's one reason. Their home colours are red which fits with Sag/Jupiter, so that's a second reason.

I accept that this is with hindsight, but it fits with what I was saying in the Allocating the Ascendant thread. Thank you, Andrew, for giving me the opportunity to test it out :)

As Andrew pointed out, it also makes sense to take finer points in the chart into consideration and each chart may have to be judged on its own merit.
You're absolutely right of course, Gem, and I suppose that's what I meant when I said it's difficult to generalise. It may turn out to be a useless exercise but I'm hoping it will be helpful when it comes to sorting out mixed testimonies.

Le Mans are position 4 or 5 in the French League. Lyon are at the top. I don't think Le Mans playing home could be rated as underdogs. The game was fairly open.

We should just continue to have an open mind and discriminate! :'

I think the discussion is superb at the moment and we are really picking things apart. :P

I would like to expand on something that I said about the dexter aspect, which gives is easier to maintain control of the game. The sinister aspect could favour the underdog due to the element of suprize.

Congratulations to everyone with the ManC result! That was really a team achievement on our behalf!

Particular congrats to John. Although there was only one goal, it was scored in the last third of the match :' And thank heavens for it! The first half was sooooo boring.

Great news re Havant & Waterlooville, the non-league side, beating Swansea 4-2. They're off to Anfield in the next round :D

I'm starting a new thread for the second half of the month. Post mortems etc can continue here, but please post any new predictions on the new thread. Thanks :)

Since you said previously that this result was an upset, I went and checked out the odds and discovered that Lyon were odds-on faves. These prices from Unibet -

Le Mans 6.00, Lyon 1.60

153
I wouldn't really argue with the bookies' odds when they are so clear cut. They're based on current form - 12 pts difference in the table and the fact that Lyon have beaten Le Mans in their previous eight head to heads, home and away

154
You point being that since Lyon were such tremedous favourites, and should have won by default - to quote a previous phrase, they loose the fortunate descendant and are moved to the unfortunate ascendant.

Since the chart is not radical and the lord of the hour in better agreement with the descendant, could you accept that as an arguement for moving the home team to the descendant. Or that the lack of radicality meant that the event did not work out as expected - and in favour of the underdog?

At the moment I'd rather stick with the "best of three" method that I'm experimenting with. So, as I said, faves + colours gave Lyon the Asc. This approach also worked for the Crewe/Leeds game so I'm quite happy with it so far.

I have a Scorpio Asc - so I think I'll dress up in something blue and make my wife wear black or dark red. That way she can experience what is like to be me for a change!

:lala Only joking, Ficina! I'm sure we'll work it out in the end!

Why can't the favourite win from the descendant? And is it me or my wife who has to play the part of underdog?? :-T
