Last Months of 1992 Three critical events occurred in the last few months of Audrey Hepburn's life: cancer diagnosis, medal of freedom and death. The profection was in the 4th (Taurus) for the entire period and most of the aspects were also the same; what changed was the emphasis, indicated by the elements changing degree.

Cancer Diagnosis
In the period between October and November 4th, when she was diagnosed with cancer, the emphasis was shown by the directed 2nd changing degree. The Moon is in the radix 1st and rules the radix 6th (illness), she is in the profected 10th, the most elevated planet in the chart, in an overcoming sextile (by sign) to the profected 12th which holds the Sun (ruler of the profected 4th, end of the matter) and Jupiter (ruler of the profected 8th). The profection is in Taurus which is on the radix 3rd (travel, communications) with its ruler Venus in Aries in the radix 1st with the emphasis on news (3rd) and the physical life (1st).

A critical period (N.Node activation) during which she was physically ill (1st, 6th) and travelled for tests to be administered by an LA hospital (the lot of Travel was critical at 0 SC during this period) and received difficult news (3rd) about her illness and the likelihood of her dying (8th) due to it.

Medal of Freedom

There are numerous elements changing degree during this period (December 4 to January 4): Mars, Jupiter, Pluto, and the lot of Honours, with the lot of Glory being critical. The key indicators appear to be the lots, with Glory being in a mitigated conjunction with radix Saturn (a 10th house planet) and in opposition to radix Mercury, ruler of the profected 2nd (possessions) and 5th (children) while the lot of Honours is moving into a mitigated inconjunct (opposition) with the directed Moon, with the Moon occupying the radix 10th (honours). The directions involving the three planets appear to reinforce the context underlying the reason for the honours.

Death

The period (January 4 to February 4th) covering her death is defined by Saturn, the out of sect malefic, changing degree in the profected 8th, in a mitigated opposition to Venus, ruler of the profected 1st and 6th, and the radix 8th. The lot of Fortune (physical life) is also changing degree and involved with Jupiter, ruler of the profected 8th. Both the changing elements had connections to the two lots of Death.

Overview

With nine planets below the horizon and only one, Saturn in the 10th, above the horizon the majority of the activities she engages in draw little public attention. With 7 planets in the Eastern hemisphere she actively shapes her environment rather than simply reacting to it. The elements are relatively balanced with three planets each in Fire, Earth, and Water. Only one, Mercury, is in Air so perhaps she jumped into things before giving them a great deal of thought. With 5 planets in the cardinal signs she would be quite active and quick to take up new ventures. Six planets in the personal houses would indicate she poured most of her energies into things that were of personal interest to her, with only the one planet in the public houses she was not overly concerned with gaining public recognition. Five planets in the wealth houses point to an interest in business matters, the financial supports necessary to sustain life.

Triplicity Rulers
The chart is nocturnal with the Moon in Pisces so the triplicity rulers are Mars and Venus with the Moon participating. Mars in Fall in the 6th indicates a difficult start to the life while Venus in detriment in the 1st points a easier time in the second half of life. The Moon is trine Mars so her gains in the first half of her life are largely through own own efforts (Moon in 1st).

12th Part
The Moon's 12th part falls in Taurus by division and at 23 Taurus 51 by calculation; it falls in the 2nd house so she is largely concerned with maintaining her livelihood, securing an income.

Contention
Hepburn has one planet in contention, the Moon. Joy Usher's A Case for Munakara gives the following description of the Moon in contention:

Her mother (Moon) likely had a strong influence on her personal life and career as it is in the 1st conjunct the Asc, rules the 6th (work) and squares Saturn in the 10th (career); she may also be the source of Hepburn's concern for financial security as Jupiter, ruler of the 10th of the mother, is in the 2nd (income).
