Is it over (reception)

25
In looking at Karen Hamaker Zondag's book, "Handbook of Horary Astrology" she states that a mutual reception in which the planets are in opposition may indicate a "harmonious dividing of the assets."

But she states that if the reception planets are sextile or trine, they will make an agreement that is advantageous to them both.

In my years of doing horary astrology, I've always found the mutual reception in their dignities (regardless of aspect) to be beneficial to the querent: meaning the querent gets what he or she wants. Time will tell if that is the case here.

Update....

Last fall, I asked the question "Is it Over?" regarding a man I'd become quite fond of who'd broken up with me at Christmas time.

In April, I found out he's engaged to a woman he dated while dating me... :(

I sent him a hurt email to which he replied. Then we had no contact since April.

Last night, out of the blue, I got an email from him asking if we could be friends. He also announced his wedding date. I asked a horary question regarding the news of his impending wedding, as "Is the Rumor True?" based on hearing this news for the first time.

Venus at 25 Libra ruled the chart. It is peregrine and succeedent. None of the angles were fixed, but Mercury in early Leo is. The Moon at 9 Cancer is dignified but cadent and due to make an eclipse to the Sun and is a New Moon at 29 Cancer -- a baleful aspect.

I take this to mean the nuptials won't happen, though this seems hard to believe.

I wish I could post the chart, but I can't figure out how!

Looking at the chart as "Is the rumor true" (based on the news of the wedding date that I'd not heard before) --

Unbelievable, I've been reading some old topics just yesterday, mainly with relationship charts, and I stumbled upon this one, I believe I missed it when it was still active. It is great to have an update (not very good news though, sorry!).

Could you at least post the data? (or a link where it is stored so that i could post a link )
I was wondering- why did you decide to go for the "Is the rumor true" system? I'm asking because, I would have probably chosen a more straight forward kind of question, like "Is he getting married?". The reasons for such approach would probably be base on the fact that it was him whom is your main concern, it's the 1st/7th axes and you're interested in the shape of his ruler i.e. his current marital/relationship status. In such cases I'd probably go for a simple chart and see what other planets and his ruler have got to say! Because, since he has already told you that he was getting marred, I guess that you could believe him and a negative answer ("NO, he will not be married, say, 2 months from now") could, in that case, be a result of some kind of change (of mind), obstacle or disagreement with his bride.
Unless, of course, you're not certain if he is telling the truth in the first place which would significantly change the situation.

I'm not, of course, trying to argue your approach :D , I'm just blah-blahing and wondering as to why you have decided to examine the situation this way! ;-)

P.S. I've seen 3 charts in which the Querent was represented by Saturn in Virgo in the past few weeks (all three relationship charts) only, in those cases, the Querents were not significantly older but have rather been single for quite some time (Saturn is slow and Virgo is, well, a virgin! ;-) )

Update on "Is it over"

You asked why I posed the chart as "Is the rumor true" and not just as a straight "Is he getting married question." The answer is that I'd already asked that question last Dec., long before I even knew he and this women were a couple. (Chalk it up to 'women's intuition.') That chart had a Void of Course Moon, which I took to mean either "nothing will come of this situation" or "It's somehow irrelevant to me."

However, since learning of the actual date of his impending marriage, seven months after I asked the first question, I decided to go for the "Is the Rumor true" approach. (But even if you look at the chart as a straight "is he getting married" question, using the 11th (friendship) house to signify him (as my friend) then you still have a negative answer. (He would then be Mercury in Leo eventually coming to an opposition to retrograde Jupiter in Aquarius, and you've still got that New Moon/eclipse situation. Or if you use the 7th house to signify him (Mars) and the first (his seventh -- Venus) those two planets are both in Gemini, but separating, and are peregrine, which according to Lee Lehman, is not a positive sign.

(There used to be instructions as to how to post the chart, but I can't seem to find them now.) [/img]

I?m a little lost in this thread but going way back to the early chart. The querent is Saturn, fearful and peregrine in the 8th house of loss. The sweetheart/lover/spouse is the 7th ruler Moon ? applying to conjoin Saturn in the 8th house. The fact that the planets are applying does not guarantee a happy relationship, it just shows that some kind of event is coming into focus, and the faster moving planet signifies the one who makes the event happen. The event was the decision to end the relationship, brought to the Saturn-querent by the Moon-partner. This perfectly fits the natural signification of Moon conjoining Saturn in the 8th.

In any planetary connection we have to weigh up the possible outcome and likely manifestation given the planets essential dignity/debility and accidental fortitude or weakness. This is especially so for conjunctions and squares, because these are the aspects that often ?hang in the balance? and get decided by the overall strength of the planets. To me this is a simple 1st-7th house concern, and the chart indicates a failing relationship whichever way we look at it. The planet of real interest is Jupiter on the ascendant. As the 11th house ruler it's a perfect statement for the fact that he would want to make a friendship out of the relationship.

Sorry that I don't have time to look at the latest chart for now - there's a lot to catch up with in this thread, and I obviously missed it first time round!

Hello voyagergirl.

I remember quite well this chart, as it was one of the first charts I interpreted on the net in my life, when I was just learning horary. Also, in this chart I tried to apply the recent knowledge I had aquired from some articles that stated the importance of a aspectual relationship giving visibility to planets and about a planet receiving another one in it's domicile, since I started with astrology over a year ago, only.

Anyway, I wanna say that on that moment, I gave you a response into which I evaded a full opinion out of fear for saying something that would sound stupid or idiotic later, or worse, that could be damaging. Even today I remember myself erasing parts of my answer several times in order to not make a huger mess of something that was already problematic. And add to that the fact that I was in doubt about the meaning of the conjunction itself being a break-up.

What I'd like to say that I saw that time is that he was with this other person, a younger person that he was interested in. It was represented by Venus, in Aquarius, a sign your significator could not "see", but which was the domicile of Saturn (In that time I just learned what a quincux was and I saw it as something averse to the AC, and mixed it with the traditional knowledge of aspects, so my own notions of things was a bit of a mess). Also, I thought that Jupiter could somehow help in a return for you both, but ultimately considered this Jupiter in Capricorn also added up to his disonesty (he was actually unsure of making a big move, and wanted to keep that situation for as long as possible, probably).

Moreover, the contact between the Moon and a Mercury in the 12th so openly indicates you receiving a break up letter, since Mercury carries a Mars and Sun disposition, that my doubts about the conjunction not meaning a loss seems a little bit naive for me, when I look at it now. And looking at this chart with the pespective of now, your other significator (Mars) was combust (could not see) near the cusp of the 12th house (hidden affairs). At some point I said you should turn for the Moon and see it's other aspects in order to understand the future. If the marriage is the trigon of the Moon from Libra to Venus happening now, we can expect turbulence and break-ups when the Moon reaches the midheaven in Scorpio, a moment into which he will again turn to you. I'm saying that cause I saw that on that first time as well, but never thought the trigon of the Moon to Venus could be a marriage, and again am unsure, but am posting it anyway.

Saying it now is more of hindsight than anything, but this time I could not stop myself from bringing this up, since this was a chart I put so much effort on. Moreover, we now receive a testament of his disonesty, and I hope, for your own good, that you can break away from this.

I'm sorry, but you explain the "trigon" concept? I am unfamiliar with that term. Thanks so much for your interpretation.

However, I don't believe this man was dishonest. I knew he was dating other women while dating me, it's just that I thought he needed "space" due to his recent divorce and wasn't ready for a relationship. I was hurt to learn that I was wrong about that.

Trine is more of a correct term I guess (trigon is for triplicity I think). I tend to mix terms, sorry for that, reading to many sources...

If dishonesty is not the case, and you did know, them the reception of Venus in Saturn's domicile in the first chart becomes a lot more clear. I had no doubts about other dates when I first looked at it, but looking at the chart now it actually sparkled a doubt in me.

And sincerely speaking, this Jupiter co-ruling him still tells me to be aware. Anyway, good luck.
