by Andrew Bevan The awarding of this prize is viewed from different angles in different parts of the world, Kirk. In Norway it is promoted as a BIG THING. That does not necessarily mean that the rest of the world gives the awarding of this prize the same importance. Feedback in this thread might add to the total picture. The awarding of the Peace Prize has often been considered controversial on an international level. I am simply trying to create a discussion and trying to tell the readers something about the controversies discussed on a national level. Anyhow, as I mentioned in my post, I did not wish to divert too heavily into internal national politics - but there could be someone out there that was interested in that part of the story and would like to pick up on the astrology. Your interpretations of the Solar ingresses and Lunar charts, Kirk, I believe are welcome. http://www.astronor.com Quote Mon Dec 14, 2009 8:06 am
by granny_skot you know, I think I said this before, but, you know Nobel invented Explosives? I do not think it unusual that a person involved with war is given a peace prize. I do think they would have done Pres. Obama a FAVOR by waiting a few years to give it to him, because it actually is known to inhibit progress rather than enable it, in peace makers. Other people get annoyed with a person who's been titled that and it just isnt' helpful to someone who already had a lot on his plate. I think the Problem with Pres. Obama, is the same problem people had with JFK and early presidents, he is very much an Ideal to many people, rather than a person with a big job to do. Making an Ideal out of someone is really not productive. well in my opinion. I think he's done very well so far for someone who has a whole lot of non-sense to deal with. He gave himself a B+ for his first year in office, and I tend to agree with him on that (grading system for schools in US, A is excellent, B above average, C average, D bellow average and F failing, for those not familiar with that grading system) I dont think it makes the nobel committee look rediculous, I think its rediculous that people try to tell a group that has no responsibility to anyone, how to award their money. If they want to say we think he's the best and give him money, its their money and their award to do so. Heck I think the Oscars are overwhelmingly Miss awarded, but I'm not on that committee either. Now if its a government agency, that is a different story. Granny Quote Thu Dec 17, 2009 8:04 pm

If they want to say we think he's the best and give him money, its their money and their award to do so. It's not simply about a committee and their money. The Nobel prizes have become a globally accepted standard of excellence and honor. The fact that Internet discussions such as this one exist shows how we all can and do participate in the awards by agreeing or disagreeing with the choices. In doing so we support or reject commonly accepted societal standards. Quote Fri Dec 18, 2009 12:26 am
by granny_skot agreeing or disagreeing with them has NO effect on the awarding of the prize, its merely something we do. They are NOT politicians who need to worry about what you think to get ellected. Politicians care about such things, the Nobel Committee has shown on more than one occasion it really doesn't care what you (meaning the public at large, not you in specific) think. And really it is their money and their award to grant as they see fit. Same with the Oscars. who everyone also comments on and they still award them stupidly. again, my opinion, others may vary, and often do. Granny Quote Mon Dec 21, 2009 1:31 am
by ### Ms. Granny, The committee doesn't consist of somewhat bored folks who discuss and vote simply in order to give something to someone. They have been accepted as a worldwide voice of approval and homage concerning human excellence. That's the reason the prize events are well covered by the media and treated with ceremony. If it were just a bunch of people getting together and giving away prizes for their own amusement, a jolly dinner down at the corner Chinese restaurant would suffice. Now for a touch of astrology (it's what we do here): Receiving 10th house honors doesn't mean much if we don't respect and grant authority of judgment to those who are bestowing them. The Nobel committee has been culturally granted that authority. That doesn't mean they are always high-minded about it, but they still have our attention when they make the announcements. Now, I see little reason to inform everyone that it's just my opinion, so I won't. I've always believed it to be understood. Quote Mon Dec 21, 2009 9:58 pm
by Andrew Bevan ...a jolly dinner down at the corner Chinese restaurant would suffice. I'm in for that, if you are buying. That would be a 'Nibble' award. I am truly honored and do not question your credentials what so ever. http://www.astronor.com Quote Mon Dec 21, 2009 10:16 pm
by granny_skot I used to always believe it was understood too, until I had people whining, so now I dont assume, I state, "my opinion",so as not to be confused with someone elses idea of fact. that being said, I dont believe I said anything about the credentials of the individuals in question, I just said, they get to pick and choose and they really dont care what we ( as in individuals not connected to the Prize committee) think about it. As for respecting the 10th house honors, it seems to me, that when it comes to the peace prize it just makes it harder for someone to do whatever it is they are trying ot do. Other leaders tend to behave jealously and that is just human nature. That's why I think you ought to do the person in question a favor and not grant it too early in their career. astrologically speaking, You might note that his natal sun is 12 Leo 33 mars, his tenth house lord, is currently rolling back and forth over his sun, Hopefully giving him the energy he needs to get the things done before him. His Capricorn Saturn shouldnt have too many problems until transiting Saturn squares it in 2011 but right now he's got a nice hardworking trine between SAturn and Natal Jupiter, and another between his natal Moon and SAturn. So I'd say that he's happy with his own place in the world right now, but not sitting still. Anyway my 2 cents... Granny PS, I also like to think his 6th house Sun is quite obviously in play with the whole health care reform issue. Quote Mon Dec 21, 2009 11:26 pm
