Attempting to correct some miss-understandings about Fagan

25
. I have read where one astrologer who has done an intensive research into Fagan?s published writings stated:
?The greatest astrology book of this century has yet to be published; it is available nowhere but in the pages of ?American Astrology??specifically, in the 200-plus issues spanning 1953-1970, which contains (among other things) the full half-million word text of Cyril Fagan?s ?Solunars.? If it weren?t for the forum provided to Fagan AA, it?s unlikely he would have written a tenth as much as he did; all his work and research would be lost or buried away. I wish that an astrologer-philanthropist would put up the money to have all of Fagan?s AA columns compiled into a book; the small proportion of his work that has been compiled is disjointed and confusing, offering no sense of the astrological genius his American Astrology columns reveal. In publishing Fagan every month for almost two decades, AA made an incalculably great contribution to the history of astrology. Another great unpublished book serialized by AA was Donald Bradley?s ?Pow Wow Corner.? Again, without AA much of Bradley?s work might never have been written.?
Fagan and Bradley were colleagues and Jim Eshelman (Interpreting Solar Returns) worked closely with Bradley. After 15 years of researching astrology, I discovered in the early nineties a very small portion of Fagan?s work and was amazed with the richness of planetary symbolism his work revealed. Fagan?s work was technically daunting and never in this life time could I cope with the complex math involved with Fagan?s astrology without the great tool of the PC. But, in 2000 I was able to make contact with an astrologer who contributed greatly to Jim?s book ?Interpreting Solar Returns.? This astrologer helped me to function my computer program where I could better gleam the brilliancy of Fagan?s work. In 2001, I made an attempt to purchase all of Fagan?s AA articles. Unfortunately for me, AA ownership (originated in the 20?s) had changed hands a few times and there was not a complete set of old issues that covered Fagan?s columns. I did not want these past AA issues for commercial purposes?I wanted them for the astrological knowledge they contained, for I had proved to myself that accurately computed Solar Returns was an astrological Key. Jim?s book, ?Interpreting Solar Returns? was published in 1977 after Fagan & Bradley had passed away to the celestial realms; I discovered Jim?s book in 1993. Many astrologers have miss-understood Fagan?s brilliant work because Fagan endorsed the original Sidereal Zodiac of the ancient Egyptians; but, what astrologers did not realize was the true brilliancy of Fagan?s astrological methodologies can also be applied to the Tropical Zodiac. In most astrological circles where Fagan?s named is mentioned--- it creates heated debates arguing tropical & sidereal issues over sign issues. The brilliancy of Fagan?s astrological methodologies has very little to do with sign & constellation issues. These tropical/sidereal debates smothers the brilliancy of Fagan?s pure astrological methodologies. I have recently retired and promise myself in retirement to attempt to pass-on to other serious astrologers the brilliant teachings from Fagan, inspired by ancient Egypt, which Fagan himself passed-on to other few serious astrologers, mainly in his AA articles. Regardless of your choice of astrological teaching schools, Fagan?s methods opens doors to rich astrological symbolism that, at times, are richly intertwined in our lives.

Obama?s Natal Secondary Progressed Chart.

26
Fagan States:
?The old fashioned system of progressions still holds sway. Rightly used it is the main source of prediction and has at times given astonishing results; for this reason it is still deservedly popular. Attributed to the Arabs, it is styled the ?secondary system of directing? to distinguish it from the ?primary system? devised by Claudius Ptolemy, which long ago went out of fashion. In astrological language, the secondary system seeks to interpret the ancient legend that states:

?A year is as a day in the sight of the Lord.?
After researching secondary progressions from the natal chart, I concluded this system offered little symbolism except for progressed moon and progressed angles conjuncting natal or progressed planets. In most cases this secondary progressed motion is too slow to form partile aspects or angular hits for ?outstanding incidents? except maybe a few in a lifetime. However, Obama?s secondary progressed natal chart for 2010, relocated to Washington DC, offers 5 partile aspects (rough symbolism) including an 11 minute approaching conjunction of secondary progressed Saturn partile conjunct the 7th house cusp of relationships. This is absolutely remarkable?I have never seen so many partile progressed aspects with dead-on symbolism describing the psychology of Obama?s ?outstanding incident? regarding his political experiences as President of the US, pertaining to the results of the recent MA. Election results. I have already offered Obama Solunar examples in this Topic pertaining to the potency of partile aspects (one degree or less) when involved with the angles; this symbolizes an ?outstanding incident? relative to the planetary symbolism in the native?s immediate environment.

I will later give the steps in SolarFire for computing a secondary progressed Natal Chart. But first let us look at the planetary symbolism in Obama?s 2010 secondary progressed chart. It is indeed striking and aptly describes his present circumstances. We will use Bradley?s delineated words from his book ?Solar & Lunar Returns.

*Note: The experienced (more so than me) astrologers taught me Fagan?s methods rely mainly on the 8th harmonic aspect series 0, 45, 90, 135, & 180-- with the most emphasis on the 0, 90, and 180. They also use the 60 & 120 but only with the intrinsic meanings of the planets involved in the aspect. In other words a 120 with Mars & Saturn is deemed primary malefic in effect. A 180 of Sun-Jupiter is benefic in effect. This is contrary to traditional teachings on planetary aspects but my experience has proved to me an aspect is more defined by its intrinsic planetary combination.

First, Obama?s progressed 7th house cusp, relocated to DC, for Feb. 9th 2010 is 22Cap04. Note his progressed Saturn is at 23Cap15. This is 11 minutes of arc time for forming a partile conjunction with his progressed 7th House Cusp?this aspect will soon be partile in 2010.

Bradley states:
?Saturn, as a malefic, is essentially destructive, and when it is on an angle, the native?s whole well-being is in the balance. Saturn angular may also be expected to curtail the native?s social interest and activities, for it places him at distinct disadvantage, making him subject to criticism by others.?
Obama?s secondary progressed Saturn, partile conjunct the 7th angle, receives a partile 90 from secondary progressed Mars. Bradley states on Mars-Saturn symbolism:
?No more destructive influence can be found than this planetary combination in major aspect, for it cannot possibly result in good, even when in trine or sextile. ?Brute force? is the apt keynote, for it destroys, pillages, and lays waste. Of course, these are the extreme effects of Mars-Saturn. In everyday life, this vicious partnership inclines to delays and obstacles, which cause the native to strike out clumsily and blindly in an effort to ?save himself and his,? or avert possible misfortunes which may threaten. To be sure, there is no such salvation in the offing, so the erstwhile valiant attempt does more harm than good.?
Obama?s secondary progressed Saturn conjunct his secondary 7th angle also receives a partile 135 from Pluto. Bradley states on Saturn-Pluto symbolism:
?These are aspects which result in the shouldering of unwanted burdens. They denote worries which lead up to some climax in the life. Psychologically, the native becomes calloused in his attitude, bluntly saying what his sentiments are, viz., instead of invoking heaven?s blessing on poor, old Aunt Emma?s soul, he declares outright his hope that she sizzles in Hades.?
Also note secondary progressed Mars is partile 45 secondary progressed Pluto, a harsh malefic aspect adding more fuel the fire. Secondary progressed Mercury is partile conjunct secondary progressed Mars. Bradley says pertaining to Mercury-Mars:
?These configurations result inevitably in such unpleasantries as arguments, accusations, slander, libel, and jumping to conclusions with unfortunate results.?
In order for the celestial mechanisms of our Solar System to get all of these partile aspects in a secondary progressed natal chart relocated to DC is simply amazing. The mathematical odds of this happening are astronomical?pun intended! Obama is rapidly losing his popularity with independent voters?the same voters who elected him?and is in serious jeopardy of doing serious damage to his own party. The Mid-Term Elections will tell us the real truth pertaining to all of this malefic symbolism in his return charts and secondary progressed natal chart. TIME always tells!

Here are the SolarFire steps for computing Obama?s secondary progressed Natal Chart, relocated to DC, FOR Feb. 9th 2010.

1: Compute Natal Chart
2: Under the current setting on the ?Calculated Charts Page, click on Angle Progressions. This brings you to the ?Preferences Page. Under Chart Angle Progression, Click the down arrow and Click on Naibod In RA. Then Click button next to Bija (Q1)?then click OK.

3: Highlight Natal Chart

4: Go to upper left hand corner and click on ?Chart? scroll down to ?Progressed? and Click or keystroke F4. Under location click button next to ?Relocated? and in the ?Place? Window put in coordinates of Washington DC. Then Click OK which computes Obama?s 2010 secondary progressed Natal Chart. Make sure you relocate his progressed Natal Chart to DC.

Reflected Thoughts

27
?One of astrology?s basic doctrines, handed down through the centuries, is that the angles of the horoscope?the horizon and meridian ?represent the most powerful, active, dynamic areas of any map. The primary importance for analyzing Solar Returns is the principle of angularity. Angular Planets and their aspects are the theme-setters.? Jim Eshelman, ?Interpreting Solar Returns.?
Throughout this topic with its example charts-- you will notice that the ?outstanding incidents? are occurring in one?s life when angularity and partile aspects appear in a map, particular Solunar maps.

Fagan writes from Solunars Handbook, (an old Solunar column from American Astrology Magazine) ?According to Hermes:?
?The wisest Babylonians, Persians, Indians and Egyptians Kings, undertook nothing in any year without examining their solar revolutions; and if they found the year good they set to work, otherwise they reframed. The astrologers for the kings examined the nativities of their generals and observed their solar revolutions, and if they found that for one of the generals the return indicated power and victory, they sent him against the enemy, otherwise they left him aside. And the ancient astrologers observed the nativities not only of their generals, but of ambassadors to see if their anniversary indicated a successful result. If it signified prosperity they sent them, but if not, they appointed, instead, others whose anniversary did presage success?.?
Have you ever pondered where the old saying of ?Many Happy Returns? originated? Have you ever pondered the fact the Pharaonic civilization of ancient Egypt, after pre-history and its lost civilizations, lasted four millenniums (4,000 years) before its disappearance? In all of our known civilizations of written history, the ancient Egyptian civilization flourished the longest amount of time---ancient Egypt defeated all of its enemies up to the Greek invasion. Egypt initiated very few outsiders into their vast knowledge of Sacred Science including Astrology. How many present or historic astrologers do you know who were Egyptologist? Fagan was an accomplish Egyptologist and made many ?fact finding tours? to Egypt and its ancient culture and proves to the open and discerning minds in his book ?Astrological Origins;? the astrologers of ancient Egypt were making their astrological calculations in the Sidereal Zodiac. Fagan?s brilliant astronomical scholarship allowed him to realize that when the New Greek Tropical Zodiac was introduced, astrologers for 2000 years were calculating their solar revolutions with a gross astronomical/mathematical error. The Sidereal Zodiac accounts mathematically for Precession. The Tropical Zodiac does not account for Precession. So, Fagan was the great astrological historian who re-introduced to the modern world of astrology the correct calculations for computing a Solar Return in either Zodiac. When Fagan tried to tell the modern world of astrologers his astrological, historical discovery?he was basically scorned and laugh at by modern astrologers because he used the word Sidereal for referencing the original Zodiac of the ancients. There were only a few astrologers before the advent of the PC who could calculate the correct math and started mathematically computing accurate Solar Returns. This brings up back to the importance of angularity in Solar & Lunar Return Maps. The few astrologers who started calculating Solar Returns, accounting for Precession, soon realized ?the Solar Return was the basis of the most powerful forecasting system presently known to astrological technology.? The main reason these few astrologers started seeing the ?golden light? of these new calculated return charts was the simple reason that these return maps calculated accurately the mundane position of the angles and solar moon positions; whereas, a Solar or Lunar Return cast in the Tropical Zodiac, without accounting for Precession, gives false mundane positions of the angles and moon. I have been attempting to give in this topic, with chart examples, the profound planetary symbolism associated with the angles and solar moon. The ancient left us a grand symbol-- the Circle with a Cross inscribed inside the Circle. This symbol predates the Greeks and Christianity and is coded into ancient Egyptian buildings. When we compute our scopes with the PC, we are looking at a Circle and a Cross (not always equal 90 degree quadrants) where the horizon and meridian points offer us the four angles of a scope. The angles of our individual scopes are what truly individualize moments in our lives when planetary symbolism manifests ?incidents? in our lives. The profound Knowledge Fagan re-discovered, that had been lost for 2000 years with the introduction of the new Tropical Zodiac, was accurate Solar & Lunar Returns which precisely calculates all of our return angles and the accurate position of the all important solar moon?from our birth TIME. Again, it?s our individual Return Crosses that we all bear throughout life that allows the astrologer to see/understand profound planetary manifestations which at times produces ?outstanding incidents? relative to our individual living environments. Fagan re-discovered the ancient knowledge for us to compute our all important individual return crosses and our important correct positions of all our solar moons. Jim?s book ?Interpreting Solar Returns,? is a small condensed book pertaining to the working knowledge of those few astrologers who had passed away; but, had recognized the brilliancy of Fagan?s historical discoveries pertaining to the ancient astrologers. Jim?s book never penetrated its mark into the field of modern mainstream astrology.

Anyone who has Peter Tompkins book, ?The Secrets of the Great Pyramid? should read Chapter X11. ?Astronomical Observatory.? This Chapter offers brilliant analysis, by Richard Anthony Proctor (a Royal British Astronomer) that the Great Pyramid before it was completed-- was an Astrological/Astronomical Observatory which precisely calculated transits to the horizon/meridian Angles. This also allowed the ancient Egyptian astrologer to see and know when a Paran, the most potent configuration in the field of astrology, was forming with Stars or Planets.

More thoughts for this Topic

29
Cyril Fagan died a little less than 50 years ago. Since I understand that most esteemed astrologers in the past or today have little idea of the profound implications of Fagan?s work is the main reason I have introduced this topic. ?Fagan made angularity the cornerstone of an entirely new approach to astrology he alone developed.? Many chart examples in this topic conveys the ?paramount importance of planetary angularity? in the study and teaching of astrology. Fagan stated that ?the astrology that I present to the public is the result of my fact-finding tours into the very embryo (ancient Egypt) of the subject.? When Fagan first wrote about his systems of astrology in the 40?s, up to time of his death in 1973, the home computer was still in the realm of science fiction. Now there?s a computer and astrologers around every corner, as well as dozens of software packages that can handle many of Fagan?s methodologies, But Fagan?s brilliant innovations are still hidden from view unless the astrologer understands how to function Fagan?s methodologies with their software packages. I have passionately studied astrology for over 36 years and I am trying to allow today?s astrologer to understand and see the deserved justice for Fagan?s brilliant astrological innovations, trying to help that future generations of astrologers glimpse a sense of appreciation for the brilliant astrological innovator himself, Cyril Fagan. Fagan stated about himself:
?It has been the purpose of my life to search all the extant monumental and textual records of remote antiquity in an endeavor to recreate, insofar as I was capable, the original teachings of astrology and present them to the modern world for the light they throw on modern astrology.?
Fagan being an accomplished Egyptologist stated pertaining to ancient Egypt:
?It is the intellectual conceit of our modern world to disparage the intelligence of the ancients. But it was these same people who discovered that Mercury, the smallest of the planets and rarely visible because of its proximity to the Sun, was the significator of intellect and speech; that Venus was the significator of love and Mars of war, and so forth; the ancient astrologers must have been a marvelously intelligent people. Exactly how did they do it??
For the most part of Fagan?s life, he was ridiculed by the modern field of mainstream astrology because he told the modern world the truth that ancient astrologers before the advent of Greek astrology and the Tropical Zodiac?recognized only one Zodiac, the starry field contained in the observable heavens--the Sidereal Zodiac. Fagan also was ridiculed for telling modern astrologers Solar Returns computed in the Tropical Zodiac were not accurately computed because the Tropical Zodiac did not account for Precession. If it was not for Fagan?s work there would be no such words as ?Precessed Tropical Solar Returns.? For two thousand years, astrologers had lost the sacredness of the true astronomy and geometry for accurately computing a Solar Return. The chart examples in this Topic endeavors to prove this truth about an accurately computed Solar Return. You can go back and compute all of my Solar Return examples, without accounting for Precession in the Tropical Zodiac, and see where you get false angles and false solar moons that do not with planetary symbolism-- symbolize the ?outstanding incidents? according to Eshelman & Fagan?s quoted teachings.

The serious astrological world owes Cyril Fagan a tremendous debt. I am trying to bring attention to Jim Eshelman?s book ?Interpreting Solar Return?s because it contains a ?mother lode? of Fagan?s brilliant innovations and methodologies, regardless of your preference of Zodiacs?Fagan?s astrological innovations work in both zodiacs. Eshelman writes from ?Interpreting Solar Returns:?
?Chart diagrams in the following chapters have been drawn in both the Tropical and Sidereal Zodiacs to enable astrologers of either conviction to feel comfortable in reading them. However, only rarely will we be discussing the sign placements of planets in this book, so I anticipate no difficulty on the part of either group (sidereal or tropical) of astrologers in following this material. This is a book on astrology, plain and simple, not one ?brand? or another. However, my book is not a beginning astrological textbook; rather, it is written for the professional astrologer and those students who already understand the basic structure of a horoscope. Each Solar Return summarily describes one year of a person?s life. It is one of the most valuable long-term diagnostic devices available to astrologers.?

Hi Steve,
thank you for your presentation of Fagan`s and Eshelmann`s work. You made me curious and I ordered book at Barnes&Noble.
I hope I`ll not found myself in trouble taking into account that I do not use outers and only use five classical aspects.

Angular Planetary Aspects

31
Trojan stated:
I hope I`ll not found myself in trouble taking into account that I do not use outers and only use five classical aspects.
Your statement leads to a very important aspect of astrology?that being planetary aspects. I will address this issue with some quotes from Fagan pertaining to angular planetary aspects. I am not sure I understand you when you say ?I do not use outers.? But when you state you ?use five classical aspects? this would be the five major Ptolemaic aspects?the conjunction (0), sextile (60), square, (90), trine (120) and opposition (180).
Fagan states:
?In the study of Sidereal Astrology only secondary importance should be accorded to all the zodiacal aspects, except the conjunctions and oppositions. If trines and sextiles are not close to being exact, relatively little importance can be attached to them. The emphasis in chart delineation should always be first on mundane conjunctions and oppositions and on paran-squares (i.e. a mundane square aspects forms when two planets come simultaneously to two angles).?
What Fagan is basically saying is the potent aspects are the 0, 90, 180 degree aspects. This is clearly symbolizing the most ancient symbol of the Cross inscribed in a Circle. When we allow the mind to mediate on this Grand Symbol of the Ancients we clearly see with geometry, a 90 degree square aspect, a 180 degree opposition aspect, and a zero degree conjunct aspect being any point on the four points of the inscribed Cross in the Circle. The ancients concealed their knowledge with symbols and when an astrologer computes a horoscope (s)he will be looking at a Circle & Cross with the four horoscopic angles. It doesn?t matter which House System an astrologer uses, the zodiac position of the four angles (Cross) will be in the same position. So, it should be clear to the discerning astrologer, the conjunction, opposition and square are the potent aspects found in astrology. When planets arrive at these four angles, particularly the slow moving outer planets, with our various individual charts, we are in a sense ?crucified?, weal or woe, with the symbolism of the planet(s) on our astrological Crosses of life.

In the above Fagan quote with Fagan?s words about ?Paran Squares? or Mundane Squares, he means at times with our individual scopes there will be hidden mundane paran squares. For example, in Obama?s 09 Solar Return there is a 3 degree orb square of Mars-Saturn. This Mars-Square aspect falls in the ?foreground? of Obama?s 09 Solar Return Cross. ?Foreground? is important terminology taught by Fagan and explained in Eshelman?s book, ?Interpreting Solar Returns?. The astrologer who understands Fagan?s profound teachings, already knows that Obama is going to experience a very tough Solar Year beginning with his birthday on Aug. 5th 2009?because of the malefic Mars-Saturn symbolism. Also note transiting Saturn will form a partile Conjunction with his Natal Saturn in Sept-Oct 09. But what is really big-time important according to Fagan?s teachings is the mathematical/geometric fact; Obama?s Solar Mars-Saturn aspect, pertaining to his individual Return Wheel Scope is in ?Potential? Mundane Paran Square formation. In other words, if you were to rotate Obama?s 09 Return Wheel by diurnal motion his 09 Solar Mars-Saturn formation would fall dead on Obama?s Ascendant/MC axis. This is defined as a Potential Paran or Mundane Square formation. According to Fagan?s teachings, this Mundane Paran Square of Obama?s 09 Solar Mars-Saturn formation is strengthen ten-fold over an ordinary zodiac aspect. My personal research has absolutely confirmed to me Fagan?s teachings about Mundane Paran Squares is true! We can clearly see where Obama is now feeling the ?crucified? effects of this extraordinary potent, malefic 09 Solar Mars-Saturn foreground zodiac square?in mundane paran formation---the people of the land are voting against him with his agendas.

Fagan also states according to planetary aspects:
?In the practice of sidereal astrology far and away the most powerful aspects are those compatible with the four angles, the conjunction, opposition and the square. These are the principle aspects to which our attention should be directed. We reject the so-called minor aspects, particularly in return maps. Even the popular trine is of doubtful value. It is of great importance to recognize that the quality of an aspect depends on the innate nature of the planets involved in the configuration and not on the angular distance between them. Thus a square or opposition between benefics is definitely to be regarded as benefic. Sun 90 or 180 Jupiter is potent for good.?
Regardless of your choice for working with the various angular aspects always remember:
?Partile aspects reign supreme.?
I have proven to myself the above quote by Eshelman is very important. When partile aspects are found in maps our attention is warranted.

Eshelman pays some attention to the 60 and 120 but only when they are partile. I only pay attention to the partile 120 but I pay more attention to the partile 45 semisquare, & 135 sesqui-quadrate, particularly when they are configured with and angular planet that is already in a 0, 90, 180 with another planet. A classic example of this is occurring on the world scene is Obama?s present Secondary Naibod RA Natal Chart. We note that secondary progressed Saturn is very close (May 2010) partile conjuncting the progressed Descendant, located to DC.?and this angular Saturn receives a partile 90 from secondary progressed Mars. Just this one aspect tells the astrologer Obama is under a potent Malefic aspect, reinforced with his 09 Solar Return malefic Mars-Saturn as I explained above. But also note Obama?s secondary progressed Saturn is partile 135 Pluto, secondary progressed Mars is partile 45 secondary progressed Pluto, secondary progressed Mars is partile conjunct secondary progressed Mercury which is also tight 90 secondary progressed angular Saturn. When you see partile minor aspects hooked-up with the major aspects of 0,90,180 you damn well no this is no cosmic co-incidence and these minor partile aspects are very important for reading the native?s symbolism. In this same case, if I saw where Obama?s secondary progressed Saturn featured a partile 120 to secondary progressed Moon, I would count this partile trine as very important.

I hope this helps you in evaluating planetary aspects and good reading with you new book purchase. If you have any questions with certain components of ?Interpreting Solar Returns,? I will be glad to try and answer your questions.

A Recnt Post by Jim Elsheman

33
A recent post Jim Eshelman made on his Forum ?Solunars? on Feb. 15th 2010.

The following summaries are a handout I prepared for lectures in the late 1970s, about the same time Interpreting Solar Returns was written. Its purpose is to give concise keys to the differentiated natures of a transiting vs. natal planet being foreground (angular) in a return.

While I might revise these a tiny bit now, the core ideas are solid. These were written to be equally true whether the planets are foreground in a Solar Return or a Lunar Return. However, there is a distinction: A planet conjunct an angle of a Solar Return also has a quality of being conjunct the Sun - and the interpretations in Interpreting Solar Returns were written with this in mind. Similarly, a planet conjunct an angle of a Lunar Return also has a quality of being conjunct the Moon - which is how I would have written the different "angular planet" interpretations if I'd finished the planned companion volume, Interpreting Lunar Returns.

For that matter, this principle is true for any type of planetary return. Thus, the meanings below are essentially what they would be in any kind of return chart except, for instance, a planet angular in a Mars Return would have the additional characteristics of acting as if conjunct Mars.

These summaries may also provide the basic "inside vs. outside" ideas (discussed in his book) for understanding how transit interpretations are derived.

r. SUN: Identity is brought under consideration. Assertiveness, direction. Pride, authority, desire for recognition. Vitality.

t. SUN: Receiving special attention. Encounters with "authorities." Honor, achievement, recognition.

r. MOON: Strongly responsive to astrological and environmental stimuli. Receptive, impressionable, vulnerable, sensitive. Indiscriminate reactions (care-free, juvenile). "Nesting" behavior.

t. MOON: Hyper-reactive (and vulnerable) to environment. Surrounded by emotional excitement, rapid and excessive motion, unstable conditions and change. Appetites easily aroused. Popular attention.

r. MERCURY: Exchange of data. Curiosity, learning, discussions. Data storage/processing/retrieval. Commercial, analytic, busy.

t. MERCURY: Transportation and communication themes. Self-expression. Busy-ness and business.

r. VENUS: Expressing love. Beauty and harmony important (vanity). Deep feelings roused. Pair-bonds formed or maintained.

t. VENUS: Affection received. Relationships are a central issue. Surroundings pleasant, harmonious, soft.

r. MARS: One is aggressive, competitive, physically expressive, assertive, irritating, willful, sexually adamant.

t. MARS: Aggression received. Atmosphere tense, heated, irritating, confronting. Presence of competition, energy, assertion, drive. Injuries, physical discomfort. Sexual bounty.

r. JUPITER: Self-esteem, confidence, feeling lucky, happiness. Desire for expansion/improvement/self-elevation. Amiable, tolerant, congenial, generous (extravagant).

t. JUPITER: Fortune coming from without. Esteem, respect, recognition, honors, material gain, elevation, gifts, advantage, opportunities, luck.

r. SATURN: Emphasis on own demands and (self-)expectations (self-doubt, sense of own inadequacies, poor health, depression). Survival behavior: feelings in check; selfish, tenacious, security-minded. Space- and time-sensitive (territorial).

t. SATURN: Demands coming from without. Daily survival needs emphasized (shortage). Restriction, delay, frustration, separation. Tasks accumulate. Others have no sympathy, seem critical.

r. URANUS: Desire for freedom, novelty, excitement, discovery (feeling stifled). Clarity of outlook. Emancipatory, rebellious, claiming independence. Risking, enthusiastic, less inhibited.

t. URANUS: Freedom, openness. Changes originating from without. Excitement (tension). Sudden new direction, surprise. Travel, adventure, renewal. Progressive, stimulating. Discovery.

r. NEPTUNE: Absorption in or by something. Exaggerated responses (vulnerable, embarrassment, anxiety). Physical/emotional sensitivity, idealism (easily frustrated; self-doubt). Imagination (selective perception, confusion). "Avoidance" behavior.

t. NEPTUNE: Exaggerated state of emotional excitement. Temptation, seduction (pleasure-oriented; impressionable). Dependency, victimization, altered reality. Efforts diluted, frustration, "avoidance" behavior. Drama, music, fantasy, mysticism, etc.

r. PLUTO: Separation, isolation. Retreat or withdrawal from world. Escape from demands and pressures. Confrontive introspection and re-evaluation. Culminations - decisions are forced.

t. PLUTO: Separative, isolating ("singles out from the herd"). Dramatic interruptions, alterations, and transformations. Need for adjustment. Climactic, intensive, sensational events. Crisis, shock. Life revolts against expectancy.

The following are my added words: Remember, the above words with an angular transiting or natal planet in Return Charts are ?summaries.? It all depends on how the angular planet is aspected. For example: Let?s look at Obama?s preceding Lunar Return before the MA. Election. Birth data is posted in another post in this topic.

Note: Obama?s transiting Mars is dead-on Obama?s Dec. 29th 2009 Lunar Return MC. Remember to correct for Precession in the Tropical Zodiac and relocate his Lunar Return to DC. According to Fagan?s teachings along with most traditional teachings, there can be no stronger point on a scope than the MC. Since transiting Mars is dead-on his Dec. 29th 2009 Lunar Return MC, we know this Mars is going to be felt in a very potent way. Jim?s above ?summaries? pertaining to t. MARS says: ?Aggression received. Atmosphere tense, heated, irritating, confronting. Presence of competition?? How is Obama?s Lunar Return dead-on Mars MC aspected? Obama?s Lunar Return Mars receives partile aspects from 135 Venus & Pluto and receives a partile 45 from Saturn. If Obama?s Lunar dead-on Mars MC had not received any partile aspects, more than likely there would not have been an ?outstanding incident? (Jan 19th 2010 MA. Election) accommodating Obama?s Dec. 29th 2009 Lunar Return, which covered a 27 day time frame. Again, this helps clarify Jim?s astrological axiom where he says pertaining to Return Maps:
?Partile aspects reign supreme but it is when angularity and aspect partility coincide that outstanding incidents are most likely to come about.?
You see?it is our individual angles in Return Maps along with partile aspects that discriminates a TIME FRAME when planetary symbolism manifest in out lives, relative to our environments.

Washington DC 2010 Capsolar

There is an ?outstanding incident? occurring on the World?s Stage pertaining to Washington DC 2010 winter weather.

The following link, http://www.solunars.net/viewtopic.php?f ... 2995#p2995 contains a 2010 Capsolar Chart posted by Jim Eshelman, including a couple of recent posts by me. Even though this particular post pertains to Mundane Astrology, I posted in this topic because it pertains to hard core teaching material in this topic about Jim?s book, ?Interpreting Solar Returns.? The Capsolar is when the Sun ingresses into Sidereal Capricorn and was the supreme mundane chart used by the early pioneers of Sidereal Astrology. I have very little experiences working with Capsolar?s; but, I was paying very close attention to DC?S 2010 Capsolar because it featured Saturn partile conjunct DC?S Ascendant receiving a partile 90 from Pluto. According to Jim?s teachings from ?Interpreting Solar Returns,? the 2010 Capsolar for Washington DC was supposed to produce an ?outstanding incident,? with this mundane Solar Return Ingress Chart. Again, I quote from Jim?s 1977 book ?Interpreting Solar Return:?
?Partile aspects reign supreme but it is when angularity and aspect partility coincide that outstanding incidents are most likely to come about.?

USA SIBLY 2010 PRECESSED SOLAR RETURN

The USA Sibley Chart, the most commonly used chart for July 4th 1776, 5:10 LMT, Philadelphia, 39N57, 75W09, features a most interesting 2010 Precessed Solar Return, relocated to Washington DC. MC 17Virgo13, Mars 17Virgo27.

There is a good amount of political ANGER with the people of the land?NOW! And the 2010 Solar Return is 3+ months from beginning.

Sibley's USA 2010 Solar Retun

I do not have a-lot of solar return research experience pertaining to mundane charts (national charts). However, I have noted some possible interesting symbolism pertaining to the USA Sibley Chart and its 2010 July Solar Return. At times, Precessed Solar Returns offers important planetary symbolism with an accurate timed birth chart for a native; but, I have certain reservations about using Solar Return techniques for national charts-- because we find astrologers claiming validly for several different timed charts. I am going to offer some possible delineations for the USA and its upcoming Precessed Solar Return using the main guidelines for Jim?s book ?Interpreting Solar Returns.? The Stage is usually already set before a Solar Return begins its new symbolism with potentially--important manifestations. And it certainly appears the USA next Solar Return, using the Sibley Chart, seems to be offering valid planetary symbolism, pertaining to a Stage of an angered Nation (people) over Obama?s Health Care Reforms which have been passed into law. Members who live in the USA are more familiar (news media) with the angered tones that are vibrating through the majority (recent polls) of people in the USA. I will be quoting some of Deb?s delineated words for mundane national charts as a possible prognostication.

Sibley USA CHART DATA: July 4th, 1776, 5:10 PM EST, Philadelphia, PA. 39N57, 075W09.
Ascendant: 12Sag.14.

Precessed 2010 Solar Return, Relocated to Washington DC, MC?17Vig13.

The most important principle taught in the book ?Interpreting Solar Returns? is the principle:
?Foreground (15 degrees of an angle) planets set the tone of the entire period covered by a Solunar (solar or lunar return) return. It is quite possible to read Solunars using only a list of foreground planets.?
I am basically going to use the above quote to delineate the USA?S 2010 Precessed Solar Return including the following statement:

The closer a planet to an angle the more potent and vivid its symbolism. I believe most astrologers, regardless of their astrological systems, would agree with this statement.

Deb says pertaining to mundane astrology:
The Tenth House
?The monarch or president, the government, people in authority. Royalty, eminent and famous persons. National trade. The national reputation, credit, and power. Public employment rate.?
Looking at Sibley?s USA July 2010 Solar Return we note Mars is partile conjunct the superior angle of the MC.

Deb says pertaining to Mars with mundane astrology:
Mars
?governs the military, soldiers and noted military and naval men. War, terrorist attacks, industrial disputes, strikes and conflicts. Opposition forces. Fire, fire services, arson and incendiarism.?
We see Mars is powerfully placed in this Solar Return and can expect (with a valid timed national chart?) a strong Mars influence directed against the ?president? and ?the government.? This Mars (anger) influence currently/already exists between the majorities of the US people verses the ?president? and ?the government? of the USA. If the Sibley Chart is valid we can expect this Mars angered situation to grow in intensity with USA?S up-coming 2010 Solar Return.

What symbolizes the ?people? in a mundane chart?

Deb says pertaining to the Moon with mundane astrology:
The Moon
?- denotes the common people, women generally, crowds, and all matters of a common or public nature. The position of the Moon in a mundane chart will show where the public's attention falls.?
USA?S Solar Return Moon ?position? falls in the 7th House and is the second closest planet to the Solar Return angles. So, ?the public?s attention falls? in the 7th House pertaining to the ?public?s? relationship with their nation?s government?USA?S 2010 Solar Return.

Deb says pertaining to the 7th House with mundane astrology:
The Seventh House
?- Foreign affairs; relations with other countries, whether friendly or hostile, political or commercial. National marriage/divorce rate.?
With USA?S Solar Return Moon (?the common people?) angular and in the 7th House we see an emphasized ?relations? or relationship (7th House) existing with the ?common people? (Moon) and the ?president? and ?government? symbolized by USA?S 2010 Solar Return MC-- with an emphasized Mars (anger) partile conjunct USA?S 2010 Solar Return MC. If the Sibley Chart is a valid timed scope for the USA, all the astrologer can truthfully predict with the above Solar Return Angle?s principle from ?Interpreting Solar Returns? -- there is going to be a powerful angered situation with the ?people? and their ?president and government?. TIME WILL TELL!
