25 by rob Hi, I checked it in Makransky's book and the Meridiandistance of the Sun is 37.64 (2nd pdf, page 80). I haven't practiced the art of PDs for a while now but I am not sure that my program is incorrect. In my opinion first the arc should be calculated by hand and then it should be checked with the programs [Placidus(Kolev), Astroframes, ...]. There can be bugs in Isaac's program as well. If there is a bug in Morinus then of course it will be fixed. I only have Ubuntu Linux but maybe Isaac's program will run with Wine(Windows Emulator). As far as I know, the PDs to the angles(Asc, Desc, MC, IC) are the same in every PD-system and the Topocentric PDs are always calculated with Naibod's key. However due to the stubborness of some people I will implement the TPDs (and also 360degree PDs in revolutions). Rob Quote Sat Jul 17, 2010 1:09 pm

Steven Hi Steven, It's good to hear a non-hostile word about Morinus on in this topic First Petr and then Martin tested it by hand and with the Placidus(program) and several other people too since then. It would be a shock for me if a simple Sun(and it's aspects) PDs to the MC would be 5-degrees incorrect. Bob told me that he had a problem with those PDs. Unfortunately there is no bugfree program, so I am prepared for everything. Rob Quote Sat Jul 17, 2010 1:51 pm

Steven Hi Steven, It's good to hear a non-hostile word about Morinus on in this topic I have been too busy lately to participate in this thread, but I want to voice my agreement with Steven that there is nothing whatsoever wrong with Morinus. The meridian distance of the Sun is correctly calculated; and that distance is the arc of direction for the Sun conjunct the IC by all traditional definitions. I don't know if the so-called topocentric system (which was invented less than 50 years ago) has some other way of defining that arc; but if it does, it would perhaps have been better to call it something other than primary directions, so as to avoid confusion. In any case, it hardly qualifies as a 'traditional or ancient technique'. Quote Sun Jul 18, 2010 9:03 am
32 by Bulletbobb While I am happy that my little question has generated a number of responses, I am less happy with the fact that no one has provided an answer to the central question: are the angles of TPD's calculated in the same way as those of other systems? It seems that everyone is dancing around that one central issue. Surely some of the technical types who have posted here could dig out their pocket calculators and calculate by hand (surely you remember how to do that?), from the basic equations of TPD's, the location of the MC for the Prince's wedding. It doesn't require a major programming effort in Linux/Unbutu/Dos or whatever, just one single calculation will resolve the issue. Bob Quote Sun Jul 18, 2010 1:29 pm

Kolev also says this in his booklets. Martin asked you about the PD you wanted to check but you hasn't answered him yet. I checked your email and you are interested in: Opposition Sun D --> MC in Prince Charles chart. Since the meridiandistance(MD) of the Sun is 37.64 in the speculum in Makransky's book in my opinion there's no need to calculate it. I can be wrong, of course, since I am not a PD-expert. In his book the PDs to the angles are completely separated from the pd-systems(e.g. Placidian, Topocentric). We can do two things: - ask an owner of the Placidus(Kolev) to check this PD - ask Isaac how he programmed the PDs to the angles or both(bonus). Rob Quote Sun Jul 18, 2010 5:39 pm
34 by Ed F I could try to install Placidus on my system to check this. But it may not work (oldish version). But has the data actually been posted to this thread? Birth chart being used + event date? - Ed Quote Sun Jul 18, 2010 5:51 pm
