Hi there , it occurs to me that the crisis blew up as Mercury and Mars were square to Uranus and Jupiter, with the Moon transit aspecting both configurations and opposing Neptune to complete the picture in this maritime standoff.

Going forward we have the completion of the Mars squares over the next few days BUT Venus changes signs to be brought into sextile by Mercury.

Venus will conjunct Pluto before Mars has a chance to get there whilst Mercury is conjunct Pluto too.

Doesn't this speak clearly of a diplomatic input reduciing the temsions albeit back to the Korea's normal level of armed standoff. A n actual solution would be perhaps a step too far considering both sides play this "hard edged" diplomatic game.

Fair comment. With the exception of Andrew (who has been doing very well as a pronosticator!) I would have to agree. If mundane astrology was getting a report card it would read 'could try harder'.
First to Mark: Thank you for recognizing my attempts and ambitions, but that does not mean the same as getting everything right or that everything happens as suggested. But it does have to do with staying on the right side of possibilities. In this sense it is a bit like weather forcasting or working through a check list crossing off things that should be checked out and keep you on the alert, rather than wandering in the dark. So far we seem to be on the right side of the tension in the Korean peninsula. Authorities; Koreans, China and the US alike, appear to be making their best attempt to manage the situation. Although nothing is on the safe - as yet.

I didn't want to sound disregarding in terms of the contribution of Daz Madrigal, because some of the representations provided strike an interesting key, but I wanted to point out that some of the imagery seemed illusive and maybe a modern or more tangible translation of this material is in call.

That's an interesting point, Mike. If the MA/PL conj points to an intensification of activity then quite possibly both a mercury influence with a benigh aspect from venus could be enough to result in some sort of cautious agreement. Personally I'm not sure that its a strong enough factor to entirely calm the tension of the situation when we've got ME-NN-MA-PL within a few degrees around Dec 11-12th. Still we agree about the timing so lets hope you're right and its more a passing of the peace pipe than a war dance!

Hi Daz I think my post to the other thread about Pluto and the nodes is relevant here too. In short we must not forget that Pluto is transiting the north node. Its hard transits of the nodes in the 20th Century were to the south node and then of course square to the nodes from south of the nodal axis. We lived through a century where those movements towards global war seemed to be out of control, involving obligation or "necessity". Nation states could not control the situation since the situation was hell bent on dissolving and reforming the very idea of nation states thenselves.

Now with the transit across the north node its a new kind of phase. Using Pluto , its as though all that that planet represents has not gone away, but it is able to be controlled and channeled by the prexistant political establishments. That of of course means that a country such as North Korea could choose conflict but it doesn't have the same scope to spiral out of control.

One other thought. This is not the first meeting between Pluto and Mars in Capricorn, the first of course was probably commented on here previously since it occured when the Israelis launched their campaign against Gaza with heavy bombing. In a sense that event did a lot to show the limitations of force and also, as befits Capricorn caused the global political order to some extent to get engaged, abeit with limited effect.

Since the 'George Washington' arrived into the area, the whole conflict and situation seems to have gone into a 'stealth modus'. There has hardly been a mention in the Norwegian press since - apart from China having urged N.Korea to calm down. I did read something saying that the Chinese wished for the Korean states to reunite, but this sounded like an invention of the press, at this stage, more than anything else.

Yes its been much the same in the UK Media. I had always assumed things would quiet down again between the two Korea's. North Korea doesn't have the kind of diplomatic and/or military support from China to sustain a full scale war. Modern China seems to be as much PLC as PRC. And a war involving one of your major export markets doesn't sound a good plan. And yet...the astrology coming up does look a bit striking to me... :-?

One thing that interests me is how reliable foundation Ingress charts for countries compare to national charts as indicators of national developments.

A good test is coming up with the Lunar Eclipse on Dec 21st 2010 8:16 (GMT) at 29? Gemini 21'

The Foundation Ingress charts for both Koreas have late Sagittarius rising meaning the Lunar eclipse is occuring near the foundational Aries Ingress 1st-7th house axis. In the case of South Korea the Lunar Eclipse is right on the 1st/7th house axis to degree with the Sun on the 1st house.

Looking at national charts the most obvious point is the proximity of the Lunar eclipse to the Uranus in both national charts.

National Chart for South Korea (15th August 1948)

National chart for North Korea (9th September 1948)

It seems both kinds of charts are suggesting another potential flare up or radical change. A change of leadership in the North or another outbreak of hostilities? What do others think?

Here is the Lunar Eclipse chart for December 21st 2010 located for Seoul:
Image
Quite a remarkable chart considering its links to the foundational Aries Ingress charts. Cardinal asc/desc indicating fast paced action. Mars in the 7th and Saturn (Lord 7) in the 4th house whole sign.

The Capricorn Ingress chart seems to reinforce the theme of the Lunar eclipse chart.

Its not exactly subtle is it? Mars MC ruler and exaltation ruler of the ascendant (Capricorn) conjunct the ascendant. The Moon (Lord 7) located in the 7th in an applying opposition to Mars.

Maybe I am being over simplistic but this looks like an outbreak of fresh hostlities to me. Its a frightening thought.

Note the applying squares of Mars and the Moon to Saturn, as well.
Indeed. I didn't want to lay it on with a trowel but yes the indicators are not looking good. There have been various accounts of Kim Jong-il's failing health for years including a succession of strokes. There has been speculation on a possible successor emerging lately either from his family or within ranks of the army. Its seems quite plausible that the recent missile attacks were a further sign of destabilization within the regime and an internal faction (possibly within the North Korean Army) obtaining or seeking the upper hand. Even on a good day the paranoid-aggressive stance of North Korea is never pacific.

Hi Steven,

Maybe if the report is long and involves several charts it would be best for me to format it into an article which could be linked to this thread?

I'll PM you about this,
