I had a overseas relocation horary myself. My question was more on buying a condo in another country so i could be near my "adopted" brother and my "neice", so 2nd and 8th house were heavily involved. Sun ruled 1st, Saturn of 7th was hanging stationary. There was a sextile... Tanit and I both looked and came up with change of plans. My chart had Saturn *lord of 7th in 4th house* moon square venus at first then sextile Venus lord of 4th.

9th house was not so prominent. Jupiter ruled 9th house as well.
My only thought is other houses will be involved but they are only to be used as support not as a main focus.

Dear Dolphin,

I am very well familiar with relocation horaries and the rules that you described, but it is not always advisable to use the 1st/7th axis, especially when overseas travel is involved. Usually, the chart itself will show you the way, and this chart is screaming 9th house. I don't think it can be any more pronounced than this. Furthermore, this is not exactly a question about relocation (Should I stay or should I go), but about a job abroad. So, it requires a slightly different handling than a typical relocation horary.

The question is:

At any rate, that is how I chose to delineate this chart, so we'll just have to disagree. :-)
Tanit wrote:The 9th may be heavy also because this is a teaching question. I saw a recent romance horary where the romantic interest was a professor, who was Jupiter in the 9th.
Maybe, if it's a higher education institution, But I don't see how we could ignore the overseas connotations.

Wow! I'm well behind on responding to all your wise thoughts. First let me apologize on behalf of Neptune which is indeed transiting in square to my Ascendant ... thankfully leaving after a year spent in both holy and unholy confusion.

Here's what I now think after reading all your posts.

1) L1 is my husband because it was he who broached the (implicit) question in the first place. I, therefore, am L7 as both astrologer and wife. I am older than my husband by 8 years ... so Saturn is fitting for me and I'm definitely slowing down just past my second Saturn Return. I?m also writing a book so the 3rd house fits.

2) My husband has been dealing with a ton of added responsibilities lately, so the 6th house fits as his current situation. Sun in Capricorn fits too as he is the head of his school.

3) I would say that the 9th house is indeed an important facet of this situation as we are both very excited at the possibility of living in Europe.

4) The primary impetus of the question was to decide if we were ready to relocate so quickly. Actually we could do that despite all the fixity in the chart, but we are more than happy to wait another year rather than scramble to get the house ready for either buyers or tenants within a few months.

5) If the new home is signified by Saturn, then Saturn has a lot more strength than Mars L4 by my count. An apartment comes with the job so it would be a relatively easy move. Saturn is well disposed toward the Sun in Capricorn.

6) The confusion in this chart stems from the fact that it?s a mixed bag of testimonies. Lilly advises the artist to forego judging such a chart, but I have another suggestion for the mixed testimonies. We do indeed get the opportunity to make the move ? 10th house Moon trine Sun L1, L1 applying to sextile Jupiter L9 (I get 29 Pisces on 9th) ? just not this year. The position will become vacate in the new few years.

There's more I'd like to add but must go make breakfast for said husband who's calling for his Sunday morning nosh. Thanks again everyone, and I'll keep you posted on the situation as it evolves.

Tara wrote this on 1st page "At 6:41 pm on January 14 my husband told me that there was a possibility that he could get a teaching job in Switzerland. The chart is cast for that moment, with the implicit question, "Will we move to Europe this year?"

you are reading from 1st post. I am reading the bottom line question "will we move to europe?"

Saturn retro right off the bat EVEN if it is stronger than 4th - change of plans or delay. Getting involved with individal houses other than 1/4/7 plus moon, could and can shine some light but it is not the barebone of the question. I do understand where you are coming from and i am not arguing nor trying to sway you into a diff direction.

so all good.

take care

Update: Yesterday we learned that the woman currently in the position is retiring this year and the headmaster wants to see my husband's resume.

Will keep you posted as things develop.

Thanks for the update! Since Saturn is so key here in describing the retiree, I wonder if the direct movement in the middle of the year will spell change? Keep us posted!

Saturn is not retrograde in the chart we're examining. In fact, it is going stationary. And there is also another way to interpret the symbolism: the lady in question is about to stop (retire).

We'll wait and see... I'm very curious now as to what will happen... :-)

Yes, and I am aware of that, which is why I was the first person to mention it in the post...

But, as far as I am concerned, a significator's movement is relevant within the sign it is in and Saturn in Libra will go direct in the middle of the year.

I started a job with Saturn ruling the ASC in the event chart and it was just turning retrograde, indicating a change when it goes direct in mid yr - that's actually when budgetary negotiations go through and also when my contract is under negotiation. And, as I mentioned before, my interview for the job was almost the same chart as the one posted here (same day anyway). So I just don't see why you should ignore the little details.

No one is ignoring the little details. On the contrary. I am paying very close attention to them and the symbolism behind them: a person is stopping (retiring). If the significator was a planet like Mercury or Venus, which are moving fast, then I would probably say that they might change their mind, once they go retrograde. But Saturn is the slowest of them all.

Since we already know that the lady in question intends to retire, then it is safe to assume, based on the symbolism of the chart (Saturn going stationary) that she will indeed retire.

The same piece of symbolism could be interpreted in an altogether different way in a different situation (such as the one you are describing for example). BTW, do you know the outcome of your situation or do you just assume that things will change based on the event chart?

I'm going to stop responding to this post because almost everything said in it has been misinterpreted by the other person responding (everyone in the post, including myself).

If you read the post before the update, what did I say about the person retiring? I said that I thought she would be, and this was after I understood the situation better because I misunderstood that the husband was not retiring (I originally thought he was, not a person he's trying to replace). I never said that Saturn changing direction would show her not retiring, I meant to say this would likely show when she will be because this is when Saturn is changing direction to a different situation. As in my example, I began a job venture while Saturn was stationary retro, and will likely end the job when Saturn goes direct. Changing direction can show a reversal. Since Saturn has begun to turn retro and has been, and she has not retired yet, I find it more likely she will when it changes direction.

Anyway... this post is full of Neptune and I am out of here.
