His work is impressive. I see he was interviewed just a few days ago on his system. However, although many pro Dem media outlets are trying to suggest he has predicted a Biden win it actually appears he will not be issuing an actual prediction on the outcome until August 2024.

I am not sure you need to tally up all these 'keys'', to indicate an incumbent may lose. For example, a President who is seriously ill or a financial crisis such as stock market crash could effectively destroy an otherwise promising incumbent's chances.

In 1968, there was also a campus protest movement at Columbia University opposing the Vietnam War. However, take a look at the ingress charts for 1968.

Aries ingress: The MC ruler Saturn is in the 12th house and in his fall.

Cancer ingress: The MC ruler Saturn is on the cusp of the 12th house and in his fall.

Libra ingress: The MC ruler Saturn is in the 1st house and in his fall.

The 1968 United States presidential election was on November 5th. The MC and MC ruler represent the ruling party at that time - the Democratic Party. Do you think the ruling party's governance situation was dire back then?

This time in Biden's 2024, the situation is different.

Aries ingress: The MC ruler Sun is in the 5th house, his exalting place.

If the 5th house represents young people, I don't see that the ruling party (Democratic Party) has lost much support from young people.

I used to have a great summary of her system from a now defunct blog which I had saved. Unfortunately, I had a rather disastrous data loss over the New Year and lost all my files I had on a laptop.

I am afraid I dont own a copy of her book which is long out of print.

From memory the essence of her system was:

She used the sunrise chart for Washington DC (approximately when polls open at 7am). This year sunrise is at 6.40am.

ASC (+ruler) represent the incumbent
DESC (+ ruler) represent the challenger
MC/1oth house represent the incumbent
IC/4th represent the challenger.
Examined house placement of these and Jupiter and Saturn by house.

I dont think DeLong gave much focus to essential dignity but I could be wrong.
Looked to see which planets were the most elevated and closest to the MC.
I dont know about DeLong but factors I would examine:


House placements
Essential dignity (Domicile, exaltation and Egyptian bounds)
Combust planets
Retrograde or direct
Aspects to MC
Moon's separating and applying aspects.
Domicile ruler of Moon and its applying aspects
Elevated planets
Domicile ruler of Jupiter/Saturn.

I dont know if De Long used the Moon's aspects or not but it something I often find in is critical in political contest charts.
Using this time the Sun will always be in Scorpio near the ASC and the MC in Leo. This may reflect why incumbents tend to win.

This year Mars is the most elevated planet favoring Biden.
However, Saturn is disposited by Jupiter in this election. In 2020 the position was reversed with Jupiter in Saturn's sign.
The Moon also starts the election disposited by Jupiter although it moves into Capricorn after a few hours meaning Saturn takes over as dispositor.
Jupiter is in detriment in Gemini while Saturn is peregrine in Pisces.
Both Jupiter and Saturn are Rx
Saturn is below the horizon but in the 5th house
Jupiter is more elevated but in the 8th house.

I have found an article she wrote in Today's Astrologer (Vol.41, #5, 1979)
Let's try to see what her method says here.

She says that this technique had its roots in methods set forth by Llewellyn George and Cedric Lamont where they had assigned Saturn to the Democratic Party and Jupiter to the Republican Party. Astrologers would disagree and prefer the reverse but she says that this traditional rulership works. Let's adopt her method.
Of the several versions of Llewellyn George's method, she suggests a chart for sunrise at Washington, DC. The strongest planet on Election Day symbolizes the party whose candidate will occupy the White House.
In short
"Cast a solar chart for Election Day, study Jupiter and Saturn in terms of their close proximity to the solar Midheaven and their strength by virtue not only of elevation, but also dignity or debility by sign and retrograde motion. However, elevation is usually a stronger factor than dignity or debility by sign, unless the most elevated ruler is setting in the west or occupies the confining 12th House. Also Mutual Reception and if either Jupiter or Saturn disposes of the other and is not retrograde."

From her main points in chart analysis, it appears that the Republicans will win.
Although both parties have reversal testimonies the only positive points are the Altitude, most elevated position (but setting) and Jupiter ruling Saturn (but in Detriment).

I am adding a few observations of my own.
In the Solar Chart, the Moon is Void last square Neptune.
On closing polls, it will have moved in Capricorn (Fall) applying to Cupido (a gathering of political associations). And Saturn R is culminating.
We also have in the midpoint
SU/KR (president) = SA R (Loss of independence. Separation through the power of the state. Difficulties of the government and the President.
SU/HA = SA R (Grief and losse through rejection or oppression. To be banished)

Not an easy scenario to come up with a clear outcome.

After understanding that the Midheaven (MC) in the solar return chart changes by three zodiac signs each year, I tried using the solar return houses as a reference, placing the solar return chart in the inner circle.

The logic behind this method is to treat each year’s solar return chart as a completely new natal chart, and then observe the influence of the natal planets on the areas of life (houses) for that year.
