Re: Revised Collection Sample Checklist 37 by RC spirlhelix wrote:My sincere apologies for the unworkable example! Okay, I think I got it this time. This is the revised sample checklist for collection of light: Sun 0 Gemini Venus 1 Aries Jupiter 5 Leo Mars 10 Aries Saturn 12 Cancer Moon 12 Gemini Mercury 29 Gemini It shows no aspect between our significators, Sun and Venus. There are no planets between them, so translation of light is out. Let's try for collection of light. In collection of light, there will be two aspects that "link" our significators to a third, heavier (slower than both significators) planet. No perfect aspects to other planets can occur before aspects from both the significators have perfected. Look down the list. Can you find any planets which both Sun and Venus are applying to? A separating aspect can count too, as long the significator higher on the list is applying to an aspect with the collecting planet, while the other planet is separating from an aspect to the collecting planet. There must be no other planets which perfect an aspect with your significators or your collecting planet before the second aspect perfects. So we want: 1) One significator above the collecting planet on the list. 2) The other significator either below or above the collecting planet on the list. 3) Each aspect to be within orb. 4) No other planets which will soon pefect an aspect to any of the three (2 significators and the collecting planet) listed between the two significators and the collecting planet. Finally, in examining a real chart, we would want to consult an ephemeris or an aspectarian to make sure the aspects perfect with the timing we expect. And is there collection of light in the example above? What do you think? Pam Hi again, Yes. This one is easy. Jupiter is being trined by Venus and sextiled by Sun by applying, dexter aspects. The other planets (Mars, and moon) are separating from aspects. Venus won't reach Mars in conjunction before she trines Jupiter and she has already passed her aspect to the Sun. Moon has passed all her aspects to our planets as well. RC Quote Tue Sep 18, 2007 6:53 pm
38 by Gem say Saturn in 1' Virgo and moon VOC in 28' Scorpio. It is a SQ, but some say moon is VOC because its not making the aspect within its sign. Its still a square though. Lilly uses the out of sign aspects within the orbs. The Moon you gave in your example is not considered to be VOC because it's within the Moon's orbs. Sun 0 Gemini Venus 1 Aries Jupiter 5 Leo Mars 10 Aries Saturn 12 Cancer Moon 12 Gemini Mercury 29 Gemini Hi, RC You are a good sport to take up this thread again, after I messed that last example up! I take your "yes" to mean yes, there is collection of light. Yup, there is. Even though Venus is higher in degrees than the Sun, both the Sun and Venus are still aspecting Jupiter within orb. No other planets will perfect an aspect with our three planets of interest before the trine between Venus and Jupiter perfects (according to good sense--we would still want to check the ephemeris in case Venus suddenly went retrograde. Hope you found it useful! Gem, by the way, gave a sweet answer to your Moon VOC question. I second the motion on Deb's article. Warmest Regards, Pam Yes, that little exercise was good practice. In your example, to make it a little tougher, if Mercury had been in 2' Gemini, so that we had: Sun 0 Gemini Venus 1 Aries Mercury 2 Gemini Jupiter 5 Leo Mars 10 Aries Saturn 12 Cancer Moon 12 Gemini Then Mercury would probably catch Jupiter first since its faster than Venus and that would be interference or what you would properly call "prohibition" and would mean there would be no perfection of collection of the light between our sigs? It reminds me of a game of tag or touch football. If Jupiter is touched first by one other than our sigs, here Mercury then it doesn't matter then that Venus tags Jupiter after Mercury did, its out? Yes, that is precisely right. It reminds me of a game of tag or touch football. If Jupiter is touched first by one other than our sigs, here Mercury then it doesn't matter then that Venus tags Jupiter after Mercury did, its out? That's a very good analogy. Smile. The speed of the planets is critical to mentally calculating the "Pace of the Race" of the wandering stars. We always confirm with an ephemeris or aspectarian, of course. You're getting it very quickly. Good work! Regards, Pam "Id rather learn from one bird how to sing than teach ten thousand stars how not to dance" Quote Wed Sep 19, 2007 3:25 pm

I realize this is a general hypothetical and we don't have a real case here in front of us, but I am wondering of what significance it is when such a thing happens. Is it that this querent tried to do a thing and someone got in their way and they were they were thereby cut off or prohibited in accomplishing the action? The fact that Venus is trying to reach Jupiter must show at least there was an attempt, some action of some sort. RC Quote Wed Sep 19, 2007 3:32 pm

Hi, RC Venus in aspect to Jupiter does not mean anything--not in terms of a positive answer--once we have determined that Mercury is prohibiting the collection of light. These steps for translation and collection of light are all part of a larger process of elimination to see whether this matter will come to pass. We will see a lot of elimination before we know the outcome of the question! Sun 0 Gemini Venus 1 Aries Mercury 2 Gemini Jupiter 5 Leo Mars 10 Aries Saturn 12 Cancer Moon 12 Gemini Yes, I would assume that there was some attempt, but an aborted one. Mercury's light reached Jupiter before Venus' light did. So Mercury was the "dog that got the bone"; Mercury, not a signficator, prevents the collection of light between Venus and the Sun by Jupiter. Someone who is not involved in the initial question has "won the race". For a description of this person, check which houses Mercury rules and other traits of Mercury on the chart. Eg, Mercury is strong in Gemini, Mercury rules (whatever house) and is therefore (whatever relationship to the querent), etc. Hope this is useful!
